A lot of people who's seen the japanese version of this clip hate the English Dub speech Gohan gives, personally I like it. Now with the music added, it sounds waaay more epic. Great job Xana. XD
Its cause they added unnecessary scenes to make it seem like he didnt turn SSJ2 until the cell jrs kept on beating the Z fighters after 16 was killed. He transformed immediately after his death. Plus the original with Gohan's silence followed by his one long scream just added to the emotion of it.

@@feristired8092 at that moment yes. But we know Gohan is not a coward at all from every fight he's been in before. He always steps in to help when his friends are in danger: example like against Frieza and Raditz. He knows he's not more powerful than his opponents and he fights anyways. At that moment, Gohan just doesn't want to break those morals. Gohan's freaked out and raged on his opponents before, so it's not like him to sit there and watch the cell jrs beat up his friends. Which makes me believe he had an ulterior reason for not being able to fight. That's his morals. He's never killed anyone before. He always wants to get the best outcome possible, but because of his ironclad morals, 16 is dead in front of him. 16 and Gohan didnt really know eachother, so he's not crying over the loss of a friend. He's crying over the loss of his morals and innocence. Because he knows he'll have to kill cell. He didnt expect to become sadistic and overconfident.
Why this scene works so well with this song more than with faulconer (in my opinion ) is because faulconers sounds are great for action scenes(which’s pretty common knowledge at this point) but this scene is meant for gohan’s journey to this particular point (not after this aka saiyaman era). Since gohan was a child he obviously always saw his dad fighting evil. When he’s taken by raditz you can see he’s very scared and cry’s a lot. And then he gets that power boost when he gets very “angry” at raditz. Same with frieza. But ever since the raditz incident I think gohan had to man up (also because of his training with piccolo of course) and I think that’s the moment where he learned to hide his feelings. They come out in snippets but this is the moment where his emotions comes out (and also why him being a human led him to become this strong) when 16 says let go. 16 doesn’t just mean gohan’s power but I think he meant that gohan shouldn’t hide his emotion and let go. And then when 16 died. He got a fuck this shit moment where he just didn’t care about anything anymore including hiding his feeling and he just let it all go. And this song strengthens that feeling. And then when he transforms and after his scream the tears reflect him just letting go everything. That’s why he cries but his face isn’t sad. And I think that’s what makes this so powerful. Ps. Might be common knowledge this whole comment but idc I just had to share my thoughts lmao 😂 Pps. English is not my native language so if there are mistakes I’m sorry

All jokes aside with Goku being a bad father we know he loves his son but we all know piccolo cares more for gohan. That's a fact. But that 1 word from piccolo contrast so well with the scene.
Yup. Through fights with Raditz, Garlic Jr, The Ginyu Force, and Frieza indeed. And let’s not forget Dr. Wheelo, Nappa, and even Vegeta (when he started off as a villain).
As a kid I didnt see the part in a previous episode when he had a nightmare where cell crushes Chi Chi’s head with his foot...gives a darker context to this scene and maybe we know what really went through his mind and made him snap

This is what I remember. My first experience with DBZ was with a box set that included the Funimation dub, but with the Japanese music, which, as a pre-teen, I preferred heavily over the Funimation score.
Idk why but to me piccolo saying "gohan" brings it together for me.
You can hear in his voice the concern for him. All jokes aside with Goku being a bad father we know he loves his son but we all know piccolo cares more for gohan. That's a fact.
But that 1 word from piccolo contrast so well with the scene.
Those tears in his eyes are the tears of a true saiyan warrior
This song changed my life growing up. 33 still listen to it.... dont know a damn word its saying lol but I sing with it
This song gives me chill
SOOOOOOOOO much better with the epic music
Awesome if I live too 80 I'ma still watch DBZ ❤
Why couldn't it be more famous!?
Yup. Through fights with Raditz, Garlic Jr, The Ginyu Force, and Frieza indeed. And let’s not forget Dr. Wheelo, Nappa, and even Vegeta (when he started off as a villain).
Exactly...what we need here
As a kid I didnt see the part in a previous episode when he had a nightmare where cell crushes Chi Chi’s head with his foot...gives a darker context to this scene and maybe we know what really went through his mind and made him snap
Chills. Even to this day.
RIP to the badass gohan, its sad to see what have they done to you :(
