FYI: there was another segment I had hoped to include either in this video or the previous, but it didn’t ever really fit in anywhere so I’ll just note it here - I was going to compare EMH Kang’s gravitas to Loki’s HWR and make the point that just because the variant of Kang we see in Loki is a little less sinister and a little more goofy, that’s probably because he’s gone mad from millennia overseeing the TVA. I think when we see Kang proper in the MCU the tone will be closer to EMH’s!
Not to say king should be a stoic, but I will admit we have been getting too many goofy villains which is the same problem as having only stoic MCU villains.
I think the reason that he’s “goofy” is partly because he’s gone mad, but also because HWR just isn’t Kang. Kang is a variant of HWR and thus has a different personality, he’ll definitely have his regular personality or at least a more tyrannical and regal one when he shows up in AatW:Q and Loki s2
Someone who finally gets it! We never saw Kang "The Conqueror" in Loki, we saw someone who looks like him but he was someone who bested the Kang we will know and became "He who remains". That title is a reminder that he did it all to stop the war and prevent a new one from coming, so millenia of doing that can easily lead to one getting bored and eventually mad.
You know Kang’s a threat when Nick Fury stops his Skrull investigation to stop him. Also, I like how Kang’s prophesied doomed future becomes the main motivation for the Avengers after the Breakout and the Skrull Invasion.

It is beyond cathartic to see EMH finally getting a fraction of the credit it deserves. It feels even better seeing someone able to articulate why it deserves to be watched. It nails the essence of Captain America's famous morally heroic speeches without taking minutes of a scene for an extended diatribe or dancing around the point to fill time or page-space. Hulk: "Is that why you teamed up with me? To protect people from the Monster?" Cap: "Stow that talk, Soldier. I want you to protect civilians from Hydra. They're the monster here, not you. In my day, we had a name for someone like you." Hulk: "Yeah? What's that?" Cap: "Hero." As excellent as Kang is in this series, I am still a little confused about what exactly caused the future to change. It doesn't seem like Captain America was responsible for the threat presented by the Skrull or Galactus in any way - and his arrival in the present day seems like it would have always happened. I can believe that Kang got fixated on Cap incorrectly, but there's never an explanation presented for what actually happened to Kang's future.
Yeah, it’s a little confusing. There’s some explanations that might work, though - maybe if it weren’t for cap’s presence, the Skrull would have picked another Avenger to imitate, and things would have played out differently? Or maybe it’s a time loop - maybe real Cap wouldn’t have been driven to escape from Skrull prison so fast if what Kang said hadn’t stuck with him? But it definitely feels unclear in the show.
@@langadube9611 Maybe! There might actually one possible explanation I can think of - The Cosmic Cube, since Cap made a wish on that to bring back Bucky. But that's just wild speculation at this point.
He's not a Kree. In the comics, that's just his mask. If you look up Immortus (his future incarnation), that's his true face under the mask in the comics. Also, one member of the council of Kangs in this show has a human face, so perhaps Kang looks like him, only younger?

A ‘futurist’, these days, most often refers to someone interested in predicting and working towards the future - be that technologically or otherwise - like Tony. However, ‘futurism’ was also a (largely Italian) artistic movement during the early 20th century. Linked to modernism, futurism was all about rejecting the past and embracing the new - as such, the aesthetics of futurism idealised speed (owing to the recent invention of the motor car).
Futurism’s aesthetics were also very violent - calling for the destruction of museums, for instance. Some futurists even championed war - and some futurists (of modernists influenced by futurists) would go on to support the Italian and German war efforts in WW1 and 2. So when Cap hears the word ‘futurist’, he’s more likely to think of this sort of futurism (‘Italian art’) than the newer definition Tony is using!

Or in any other piece of media (movie, tv)
As excellent as Kang is in this series, I am still a little confused about what exactly caused the future to change.
Maybe a third season would have explained that
@@langadube9611 Maybe! There might actually one possible explanation I can think of - The Cosmic Cube, since Cap made a wish on that to bring back Bucky. But that's just wild speculation at this point.
I don’t get the Italian art joke…
Kang doesn’t look human he’s blue so and advanced future cree? it’s why he’d call them natives.
He's not a Kree. In the comics, that's just his mask. If you look up Immortus (his future incarnation), that's his true face under the mask in the comics. Also, one member of the council of Kangs in this show has a human face, so perhaps Kang looks like him, only younger?

I'd Say that you should move on to other topics. I love this show but maybe a breather will better.
