Today we have a 2014 Ford Fusion 2.0l that the customer bought in with the complaint of no power steering. They said they had it at the Ford dealer and were quoted $3,000 for a new steering rack. The customer said they may have jump started the car backwards. The dash says "Hill Start Assist Not Available", "Service AdvanceTrac", "Steering Assist Fault Service Req'd". Follow along as we go though trying to figure out what is wrong with this car.

Thank you, I am glad you liked it.
Thanks!
You're welcome
I have a 2014 ford fusion titanium, bought it in 2020. My dad and I replaced the steering rack 4 or 5 times now. Can't afford a mechanic to look at anything anytime soon. Just replaced it maybe 2 months ago, and just today, I felt the steering wheel stiffen up rotating back from a right-hand turn. Dont think we ever checked wiring very closely or fuses. Sure am getting sick of this car though but I'm stuck with it at the time being.
Remember to check control module and see if you can get it replaced. Either way fuses and make sure you use OBD scanner for better convenience
What type of scared tool are you using?
Hi Robert, what kind of Scanner are you using Please?
It is autel but launch is better. I have both so I can tell which is better
Bro. What kinda of animal that client have in their yard? Looks like a large one got up in there. No amperage from the motor was the key to this diagnose. Solid find and work
Probably a ground Hog.

Under the other fuses box
Where are you located?
please help i had same exact problem animal chewed through wires, so i fixed them but when i turned on still did not work. checked fuses, all good
I would scan for codes and test the wires. You can get all this info in service information from Ford.
Hello, I have the same problem, have you found out what the problem is. This is the second time I have had a rodent/squirrel chew through my power steering wire. First time I spliced it and started it up and it worked fine, this second time I spliced it and not working, I too checked fuses etc, no luck. Please let me know if you sound anything out
I have the same issue for the exact car but fuses and wires are good
Did you load test them?
Can you communicate with the steering rack?
@@RobertDottererHi great video I have one code U0131 lost communication with module A I suspect the wire
How did you get the connectors off?
What connector off?
2-3 inches from the repair splice. I took the red clip out of the connector but It just would not unplug, so I had to splice it together on the car.
Thank you very much helpful information video, my Mentor Robert Dotterer
