The other side of the Filch/Mrs. Norris theory is that Mrs. Norris is a Maledictus, such as nagini is. Perhaps filch knew her before she succumbs to the blood curse and is stuck as a cat. I find being an animagus harder for her to conceal because if she learned how to do it legitimately, would've had to have been registered as such.

My favorite theory is either that Filch is a poltergeist, like Peeves but opposite. Embodiment of rules and order vs mayhem and rule breaking. That explains why he's up cleaning all day and roaming the halls at night and seemingly never sleeps and had an affinity with Mrs. Norris.

I love the quote “of course it’s happening inside your head Harry, why on Earth should that mean it isn’t real?” Because I think it speaks directly to the readers more so than Harry. Harry Potter isn’t real, he’s a figment of imagination. But that should not negate the messages and lessons who come to learn about it. Considering that the reason Luna likely ended up marrying Newt's grandchild was her quite real interest in magical fauna and specifically her hunt for Nargle among others, the Nargle is note worthy in that she eventually did discover one!
So I would say that theory is wrong on that aspect, she was genuinely interested... as for the rest... she was definitely hiding her sorrow, but also her joy... or she was numb to both outwardly due to having gone through too much at a young age, as mentioned her mother and deranged father as well as due to having no friends other then Ginny and being bullied.
That is why when she became friends with everyone in Dumbledore's army and specifically the main group, her mural was so touching! She finally had friends and she cherished them.

As an addendum to the "Ron is a Seer" topic,
In _Prisoner of Azkaban_ (at least in the film), during Divination Class when Ron is reading Harry's tea leaves, he interprets the leaves in the cup as: _"Harry's got sort of a wonky cross, and that's 'trials and suffering'; and that there could be the Sun, and that's 'happiness'. ...So you're going to suffer, but you're going to be happy about it."_

    1. Death Eaters are never seen calling him anything but the Dark Lord
    2. There was never a taboo on his name before. In the first book it’s explained that people are still scared of hearing the name even though it’s been 11 years. About Snape bullying Neville, I believe he actually sees Peter in him. He is the far less talented "tag along" friend that does not really seem to fit into the house he is in. • @dirtroadspoonies
    @dirtroadspoonies 9 месяцев назад +24

I have always connected Harry's status as a horcrux to the development, or rather the devolvement, of the dursley's. One theory that I have is surrounding Dumbledore requiring Snape be the one to kill him. Throughout the series we see that the only true love Snape ever seemed to receive was through Dumbledore. It's also clearly shown that it was a manipulative love, but Dumbledore truly cared for Snape and vice versa. Snape tolerated Lupin, and lupin didn't much seem to mind him in return but it wasn't the level of friendship noted between Dumbledore and Snape.
When Harry is holding the wand on Bellatrix, she tells him that he knows what curse to use but he has to mean it. I didn't phrase that right, but that's the gist. She's speaking of course to the avada kedavra curse. My theory is that Dumbledore knew that Snape could never truly mean to kill him due to the level of friendship that they had together. When snape issues the curse on Dumbledore, that part of him that couldn't ever mean it then sends Dumbledore not to death, but to limbo. In doing this, Dumbledore is then allowed to confront Harry at the end and let him know that he has the choice to return.

The problem with the Harry making the Dursleys worse theory is the books. Before even getting custody of Harry we're shown that Vernon is terrible, doesn't like weird things and isn't fond of his wife's family. We don't see them get progressively worse the more they were around Harry like the locket. Harry's summers aren't ok at the start and get worse as September rolls around. Plus, Dudley and Petunia come around and start connecting with Harry BEFORE Voldemort destroys the horcrux in Harry. It would have been excellent foreshadowing if Rowling hadn't specifically mentioned how the Dursley's were the worst sort of muggles before getting Harry.

27:00 And when it comes to the adoption of muggle technology by wizards, they also have a ton of magical upgrades that break all the various laws of physics in such a way that gives the wizards the ability to just do whatever.
Take for example the Hogwarts express. Its originally a steam locomotive, a set of passenger coaches and a stretch of rails. Now, how does it actually get to Hogwarts? It appears that it either runs on a completely separate railway, or that it masks so perfectly that it cant even trigger the automatic signalization system with its wheels. So, the wizarding world has either the ability to just create a permanent subdimension of spacetime in which it can place its railway, or that it can mask its train both visibly and electromagnetically. To achieve that, I assume that it requires the wizard to know what he´s doing when he casts such a spell.
Now another issue: its a well known trivia that the locomotive is magically enhanced to not require fuel or water. But what about the wear on the physical components? Does it suffer from corrosion? Does it run completely without friction, resulting in no gradual damage to bearings? And if so, how did the wizard casting such a spell knew to "disable" friction on all the rods, pistons, valve gear, etc, but not on the wheels? And if the wheels still have friction, how do they not have wear? In the end, none of this combines well with the notion of wizards being unable to comprehend physics and technology. For a wizard to know exactly what to enchant and how, it requires a real knowledge of engineering and material physics.

The most relevant thing I can think of regarding plucking a stone from a river could be a reference to the River Styx. The river in Greek mythology where the dead would be ferried along into the underworld. So maybe the stone from the river that became the ressurection stone is a reference to that.

Regarding your last theory about the Veil: the supercarlinbrothers have a theory stating that the Veil, the Mirror of Erised and the Pensine were created by the Perevel brothers too.
The Veil is a gate to death, could have been created by the brother who created the Stone hoping to bring his lover back, the Pensine could have been created by the one who made the Cloak as it allows you to see the past invisibly and the Mirror allows you to see what you want then the Wand can help you getting it if that makes sense. Interestingly enough, they also link the Brothers to the creation of Hogwarts, I will put a link below for anyone interested 😇

The Wizarding world is famously isolationist and resistant to change.
Muggleborns were definitely always a thing, problem being that pure bloodism had them as a second class just above squibs and Obscurial.
I imagine after their numbers fell due to wizards being messed up by repressing their gifts, becoming Obscurials, from the witch burning era and all the deaths due to their wars that half-bloods started ticking up on a major scale, this is in Harry's generation so the 80s, chances are that a two decades later and most of them have cellphones and laptops in Hogwarts.

After Magical Beasts a popular variant about Ms. Norris is a maledictus.
If crookshans had been Potters' cat, he would react quite enthusiastically to Harry, which we don't see as I remember, so I think it's not well founded.
Snape's description. Well, it's quite... unfortunate? But the vibe he gave me is not exactly vampire. Big crooked nose, yellowish skin, black robes, dark magic, his father is named Tobias. Feels like anti-Semitic stereotype to me, not quite like a vampire.
Animal languages: I think animagi are able to comunicate with animals of same species in their animal form. Which gives me an idea of origins of Parseltongue. Maybe Slytherin was a snake animagus and somehow found a way to pass on some of his affinity to his descendants? In this case, there very likely are some other lines of animal speakers, though it's probably rare.

    • @VaultLore

Well, with Crookshank I should say definitly. And even an ordinary cat can live longer than 12 years, my cousins cat is for the moment 14 years old. If he once was the Potters cat it completely explains his actions and that he instantly recognised Pettigrew (and probably Harry to because of his similartes to James).
And about the Dursleys. Well… Vernon and Petunia didnt really had any contact with Harry after he became 17. But Dudley and Harry continued their contact after the series (this is confirmed afterwards) and thier kids also know each other. Dudley started to genuinly like Harry after he was saved from the Dementors in book five. And Petunia didnt really hated Harry either… but she was cracy jealous on his and his mothers magic powers and complained about it to Vernon and that combined with that James was a bit… well James… the only time he met Vernon is the reason to Vernons hate against magic.

On top of Dudley being nice at the end of the books, which was because Harry saved his life risking his own. Petunia kept the blanket Harry was wrapped in as a keep sake of his mother, which Dudley later sent to Harry. They definitely cared and once they got over their issues he was still family. Honestly I think the bad apple was Vernon and even he calmed down during the later books, which wouldn't make sense if the Horcrux was affecting him.
Petunia hated magic because it took her sister away, Vernon just seems like a pretty unlikeable guy, would probably be a Brexit supporter to get rid of the immigrants, Dudley was born into a household of grief and anger.

My favourite theory was that Mr & Mrs Weasley where Death-Eaters under the imperius curse in the first wizarding war, it comes from a couple of scenes... in both the books and the films any time something is pretty much copied over, there is an importance to it.... When Mad-Eye is demonstrating he starts with Imperius, and the lesson is focused on Ron. Then Cruciatus with Neville finally Avada Kedavra with Harry... While at the time you don't know it you learn why fairly quickly Neville was picked... with Ron he says... "Your father would know all about that. Gave the ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago." .... and finishes something like "how do you know someone was under the imperius curse and those that just faked it"
Then when Sirius Black shows Harry a picture of the first Order of the Phoenix they are not in it.. although her brothers are, yet in the second they have senior leadership positions again it plays out pretty much the same way in both book and movie.

In terms of the Parseltongue debate... perhaps muggles can speak parseltongue? We know from the books that both Tom and Harry could speak with snakes before finding out about being wizards.

Crookshanks wouldn't necessarily have been too old for a cat. Housecats can live up to 20 years, sometimes even more! So if Lily and James got him as a kitten or even a young adult cat, he could have very well been the same cat. He would have been pretty old, but if he was a young, 1 year old cat when Lily and James died, he would have been 14 when Hermione adopted him. It's already on the older side but not by any means an impossible age for a cat to live to. That being said, this is a magical world and a wizarding family's cat might as well be a little bit magical.

Regarding Crookshanks, I've an orange tabby that is around 17 and a half years old. If Crookshanks was a kitten when Harry was a baby old enough to ride on a broom, then he'd be well within the potential age range for a cat even without being half Kneazle. Mrs Norris could also be a Kneazle mix, as as such she'd be around plenty long enough for rumours to start. As for would Harry remember the family cat? Given he barely remembers anything, even if he did remember having a cat he's not likely to recognize that cat eleven/twelve years later.

1)If Voldemort had succeeded in killing Harry would he have killed Neville too?
    2) Did James and Lilly really love each other? Or did they presented to love each other?
Was Petunia right about James being no good for Lilly?
I have a feeling Petunia told Lilly James would get Lilly killed. Petunia turned out to be right.
I think I heard in a RUclips video maybe more how Petunia and Vernon hated James. How James acted around Vernon and Petunia hurt Lilly and made Lilly cry.
James said he would change and stop bullying Snape if Lilly went out with him. Lilly agreed. Even though see despised James and Snape. Lily missed being friends with Snape. Because Snape was the first person who understood Lilly as a witch. Being Snape was a wizard. They both had Muggle parents. Well Snape had one Muggle parent and on Magical parent. Like Voldemort did.
Lilly, Snape and Voldemort had something in common. Also before going to Hogwarts Lilly, Snape, and Voldemort only had one Magical person in their lives to talk about being Magical. Lilly and Snape had each other. Voldemort had Dombledore. They all betrayed each other. Which lead to their deaths.
James and Harry were/are in the middle of a betrayal between Lilly and Snape, Dumbledore and Voldemort. That lead to the death of James. Almost lead to the Death of Harry and Voldermort.
Even if Lilly did not Marry James and have Harry would Lilly and James have survived the war? Did Lilly and James really love each other or did they stay together because of Snape, Harry, Voldemort?
Did Snape know he was the reason Lilly was with James?
Snape Betrayed Lilly by joining the Wizard Sith Lords(Dark Side of the Force). Turned his back on the friendship he had with Lily.
Lilly betrayed Snape by being with Snapes tormentors. And marrying and having a baby with James.
Dumbledore betrayed Voldemort (Tom Riddle Jr) by not being a good mentor to Tom. Keeping secrets from Tom. About Tom. Tom betrayed Dumbledore by becoming Voldemort.
3)Understanding who the real people used to inspire the HP characters might help the readers to understand the HP characters.
4)Why didn’t Harry leave Headwig at Hogwarts or the Weasley’s?
5)Tom me this would be funny. To get around the Voldemort name Taboo. Those who know Voldemort is Tom Riddle Jr. say out loud Tom instead of saying Voldemort out loud.
6)In the UK presumably all pure blood families are related. By blood. How closely blood related are Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley?
    According to Google:
    Search Labs | AI Overview
Yes, the Weasleys and Potters are related in the Harry Potter series:
Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley are cousins.
Harry marries into the Weasley family when he marries Ginny, Ron's younger sister.
The Potters are related to many families:
The Potters are related to the Peverell, Fleamont, Black, Evans, and Weasley families. They are also distantly related to the Gaunt, Riddle, Flint, Bulstrode, Crabbe, Dursley, Prewett, Delacour, Johnson, Granger, and Granger-Weasley families.

I mean c'mon, the only animal with standard invisibility from birth? The stone is not a rock from a riverbed like the legend. It's a gem. It was set into slytherins ring. I would say it might be an internal organ that thestrals produce when they die. I do like the idea that the cloak is related to the veil and that thestrals came through to our world from the other side though

Idk about the dursleys being affected by Harry as a horcrux as when they are wearing the locket, the person most affected is the person who’s closest. On top of that horcruxes are normally made into objects so you can think of their affect on others as the soul reaching to be with the living. I think this is also why when his killing curse rebounded and splits his soul into two that the part of Voldemort’s soul attaches it self “to the only other living thing in the room” is that the soul gets to choose.
    Just my two cents!

The only issue with the Snape killing Hedwig to protect Harry so He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named doesn't find him theory is that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named shows up immediately after. Since the movie chose to not have Harry cast expelliarmus to give himself away, to me, it seems more likely Hedwig's heroic attempt to save Harry is still what gave Harry away to the death eaters.
    Still like the theory though.

Hedwig was female, despite being played by males in the movies

If Harry Potter was set in a more DnD style world, then the Deathly Hallows could be used to literally pierce the Veil safely. The Resurrection Stone would be part of the Veil from within the Ministry, the Elder Wand would be the only wand able to function on the other side, and the Invisibility Cloak would keep the owner safe from Death while on the other side. Perhaps a way to resurrect/revive someone

They didn't even need the "of course its in your head Harry" line. The its all in their head/everyone is dead theory is used for nearly every show. At least with Buffy they did an episode to make everyone question if Buffy was crazy or not, and Total Recall intentionally makes you question what's real alongside Quaid. But shows like Rugrats where all the babies are in Angelica's head are ridiculous and everywhere. Big Bang Theory is in Sheldon's head, 30 Rock is in Liz' head, Saved by the Bell in Zack's head, Friends is in Phoebe's head, Jurassic Park is in Grant's head, etc etc etc.

I feel like Cruikshanks would have recognised Harry if he'd been the Potters' cat.
    Hedwig is female, not male.
I think Lupin just assigned the class to write the vampire essay to annoy Snape.
Not necessarily a contradiction, but Mrs. Norris' full name would've shown up on the Marauders' Map.

For the first theory, I don't think it makes sense, because Dumbledore's portrait is only painted after his death. He never had a portrait before. Therefore, I don't think it would work, especially since dumbledore's image doesn't talk or interact in anyway. + Gilderoy Lockhard has plenty photos of himself that he distributes to everybody but doesn't know a thing about Harry's plan while he is obsessed with him and celebrity in general ? But the theory is nice in it's idea.

36:27 I think that, maybe, animagi can speak to other similar animals, like, Sirius becomes a dog and talks to a cat/kneazle, and wormtail becomes a rat and speaks to other rats, cats and dogs are relatively similar animals and the rats are outright the same animal, but for why we don’t see things like McGonagall talking to cats, is that she’s not typically in her cat form, so it could be that they can talk to animals but only in their animagus form.

Let me be the annoying one and correct some more stuff haha
    1) It definitely isn't Ani-May-Jus, it is Ani-May-Gus. Even if Rowling said it, it's wrong, she is not the authority in this case as she didn't invent the word magus. And as a very old word, it is definitely pronounced May-Gus
    2) Hedwig is not a HE ;)
I just had to, sorry haha Love the vid, lot's of cool new stuff! Subscribed!
