so the gun was actually based on a real weapon that the Nazis developed called the Schwerer Gustav that could fire 7-tonne shells at a range of 29 miles
Yeah but overtime it became very impractical because the amount of time and effort it took to constantly keep moving around its massive body. Basically Nazi Germany was the king of making expensive toys that didn't amount to much in actual combat lol

I’m pretty sure it’s an analogy for a nuke tho. Like it was based off of a real weapon but for story and analysis purposes, it should be treated like a nuclear weapon
Man when Toph said that this is why Katara didn’t do anything in the civil war I laughed so hard. Unalaaq is an outstanding water bender and one of the best we’ve seen. And she just said Katara ABSOLUTELY had the power to just nail his ass and likely had enough power to go against a spirit. But instead she left it to Korra who actually made the best case scenario by freeing the spirits even if it was at the cost of her past lives. Both of them still have the power to wipe entire armies out. But the toll on their bodies would likely put them out of commission. (As any active 90 year old woman would know)
The tragedy of age. If they had to, Katara and Toph could step in and save the world (again), but they probably wouldn't survive it. Sometimes you just have to trust the new generation
I mean Avatar does the "Strong Old Man (person)" trope that we see so much in anime. In the original show, we had Iroh, Pakku, Jeong Jeong, and Bumi all be massive problems. Now in this show, Katara (who's also the best healer in the world), Toph, and Zuko (fought off the red lotus at night in the middle of a fucking blizzard) are all still incredible benders too
Love her, hate her, Kuvira aint no joke. She's one of the faster earthbenders honestly. Suyin is pretty skilled, but gotta give the antagonist her due respect, she nasty.
LoK’s bending styles are kinda polarizing to people but i really like the fast-paced modernized mma style they used. I think the suyin vs kuvira fight is the best display of that. Not better nor worse than the traditional, stylistic styles of AtLA. Just different
There's still plenty of traditional styles used. Off the top if my head: Ghazan, Tenzin, Lin outside of her metal wips, Korra when she's using waterbending(she was taught by Katara after all) and at times with earthbending, chi blockers(without gloves), and Jinora, Ikki and Meelo.
There's still plenty of traditional styles you gotta pay attention to the movements and what martial arts they were inspired. The less traditional argument i think was made popular by early criticisms of the show being more westernized or modernized. But a lot of those people arent really familiar with martial arts.
@@PaintedHoundie exactly, well almost. As I disagree, since modernization doesn't(shouldn't) be equivalent to westernized. Just look at South Korea/Japan/Hong Kong.

I definitely agree with the end discussion. In a way, the side characters outshined Korra this season, from Bolin’s lava bending, to the air nation’s rebirth in action. What do you guys think? Edit: This in no way means I don’t like Korra. She’s such a role model and amazing character!
I see where they're coming from Korra has plenty of hype moments as well that demonstrates how incredible her skills are. She's demolishes Tarrlok before he bloodbends her, she was beating Vaatu before harmonic convergence gave him a boost, she and her dad did a really good job of fighting of Zaheer (and she was still chained up in that fight), and we haven't even gotten to her best moment with her fight against Kuvira and then bending the spirit energy. I think the problem is that Korra's so powerful that they literally have to nerf her midseason so she doesn't just take out the main enemy before the finale.
I don't really think it happens in Korra any more than it happens in Atla y'know just like Katara had her moments with blood ending, Toph with creating metalbending and literally every fight she was in, Azula everytime she was on screen, Iroh when he scapes prison and in the finale.. I think it's because in general the Avatar is the most powerful bender of their time because they can bend the four elements + avatar state but they are definitely not the most skilled, just like how Katara was a better waterbender than Aang, Toph a better earthbender, Azula a better firebender etc, the same goes for Korra. Kuvira, Tenzin, Zaheer Anon and others were more skilled than others, but in the end she's still the avatar and no one can really defeat the avatar at their fullest power (god Zaheer barely did it and she was *poisoned* during their whole fight) And I absolutely love that both Aang and Korra aren't the most skilled characters, cause powerful characters outside of the protagonist makes an interesting supporting cast and intimidating villains so I'm all for it
@@strangething7379 This! Most of Korra's fights aren't fair at all and she's usually outnumbered, poisoned, chained, caught of surprise with fucking bloodbending, or a SPIRIT COMING OUT OF SOMEONE'S MOUTH (how creepy was that lmao) or with her mind fucked up after 3 years of not being able to enter the avatar state
But she brought back those Air nomads and gave us the villain in Zahir so the criticism is a bit of a reach, people will find something to complain about for views or clicks. That's what's popular
8:48 the thing is she DOES mean it listen to what she says "if that makes you happy" she hates not being around her kid but she recognizes that she has a hard time connecting to her and simply does what she thinks will make her happy and tragically that's the thing that makes her kid angry in the first place
My favorite thing about the avatar series is how they portray antagonists slowly getting off their game. Any time it happens their hair gets strands loose. Azula and Kuvira use fear to control people and have to be in complete control of a situation, but when they both begin their decent or being to lose the first thing that goes is their hairs. Hairs always out of place
Opal's bison is named Juicy. Lin's father is named Kanto. Baatar is acrophobic. Toph and Lin have not seen each other for twenty years. Baatar refers to Toph as "mother", though the latter does not approve of him doing so.
What about that moment when Korra got Zaheer with the chain and plummeted him to the earth? or that moment when she resisted Amon blood bending and threw him out the window?...you guys see what you want to see.
I think it’s important to remember how vocal some Avatar fans were about hating Korra for being too strong when this first aired. “Mary Sue” was thrown around left and right. I think it’s interesting watching everything back now and see their reactions to how her powers were tamped down to appease fans.
I would actually disagree and say Korra does have her own hype moments along with everyone else, maybe more so. They're just spread out throughout the show.
I notice the Korra series is not as protagonist heavy as the last air bender. In TLA Aang was the focus of every arc and subplot and all the characters were either supporting him or against him, whereas Korra is not relevant to every story in LoK
Korra as a character also has great moments (literally every season finale and others), but, the people weigh their mistakes and disadvantages over their achievements and successes. I don't know why, but nobody can deny it.
I feel like the narrative did help many lean into the negative aspects, so that made it easier for some to latch onto compared to the original series. Like the president saying she should leave the town; Toph saying she was the worst avatar, etc... but of course they have the positive aspects addressed too (like Tenzin saying she help bring the airbenders) which many don't take into account enough. The negative seem to severe to them to account for the positives (especially after book 2 with her losing connection to the Avatar state).
@@raec5426 I agree with most of what you said, except for the 'bringing back the airbenders'. I understand that in the end, the credit goes to Korra for keeping the portals open and reviving airbenders, but it was completely accidental. If she had done it on purpose, most people would've praised her a lot more. But it was a complete coincidence, so people don't really credit Korra for it (i personally don't at least)
This episode highlights the differences between the Beifong sisters fighting styles. Lin is more straightforward in wanting to beat up her opponents while Suyin thinks on her feet AND out of the box. Something they each picked up from Toph (the best of Mom, if you will).
I've seen ppl say that just some back troubles aren't a big deal, Toph would be able to manage Trust me, when your back suddenly locks, it LOCKS, exceptionally painfully if you're doing something stressful at the time
Interesting discussion at the end. I agree but I think it’s because it’s the story they were telling. ATLA was all about Aang owning up to being the Avatar so it was cool to see a child monk grow some balls and actually fight. Korra is about her personal growth (where she already accepted she was the Avatar since episode one of Book one) and accepting herself as someone separate and apart from being the Avatar. The writers in Korra gave her several obstacles many of which caused her powers to either be blocked or unable to be used because that was her journey. Maturing and finding others ways to fight.

@@tahjsimon9058 the only baddass fight korra had was when she fought unalaq and vaatu before she lost the connection to the other avatars. and when she did the whole show was disappointed me.
I feel like at 8:37 Toph really just wanted her kids to live the life they wanted. She didn't want to keep them tied up like she was as a kid. But seems really hard for her to be able to switch off that gate and try and be a little over-bearing at times
I also feel like her personality also ties to what you’re saying. Like she wants her kids to live the life they wanted and she’s also not a lover most of the time, she probably didn’t show much affection to them. The girls saw both of those and probably took it in a negative way. I’m hope I explained that good.
Re-watching this episode made me realize why kuvira didn't do or say anything when toph came..u know maybe she still has respect for toph as an earthbender and founder of metalbending. 🤩🤩🤩🥰🥰
that scene of suyin using the metal panel as a spinning shield and then wearing it as armor is one of my favorite pieces of animation ever, im so glad yall acknowledged it so
The domes protecting Zaofu have been dismantled as per Kuvira's orders in "The Battle of Zaofu". Lin recalls her reconciliation with Suyin in "Old Wounds". Toph mentions opening the Beifong Metalbending Academy in The Promise. Bolin recalls learning to lavabend in "Enter the Void". Toph has a sore back from fighting Korra in "The Coronation".
The whole episode was amazing, was cool to see toph do the seismic stomp (looked like sonar when Lin done it in season 1) and witnessing Toph doing all her bending with her hands behind her back saving her family with Bolin.
When the mecha suit shoots a stream of fire at Lin and Suyin, the wooden cage is fastened down on all eight corners. When Lin breaks two of them, however, the bottom four have disappeared, allowing the cage to swing. When Kuvira orders some of her men to hurry down toward the prison hold, the slips of her jacket are missing between her legs. When Suyin rips off a metal door and spins it during her fight with Kuvira, its handle and hinges have disappeared by the time she stops.

“BOLIN!!! We fly high”
“No lie, and you know it”
“BOLIN!!!”
My dad always plays that song 😂😂😂
Opal's bison is named Juicy.
Lin's father is named Kanto.
Baatar is acrophobic.
Toph and Lin have not seen each other for twenty years.
Baatar refers to Toph as "mother", though the latter does not approve of him doing so.
Why you pasting all this obvious non-trivia in the comments LMAO this shit is outright stated in the episode
@@GnesThenic I like the wiki facts idk

*YOU GIVE METALBENDERS A BAND NAME!*
15:38 the Beifong glare from every angle. 🤣🤣🤣
Suyin had the baddest move of the season during that fight.
17:23 is a perfect encapsulation of this show
What about that moment when Korra got Zaheer with the chain and plummeted him to the earth? or that moment when she resisted Amon blood bending and threw him out the window?...you guys see what you want to see.
"You gave metal benders a bad name!"
Kuvira: You are old and weak but I am too scared to move or talk.
If Lin's dad is named Kanto
We can assume that Su Yin's dad is named Johto.
And typically her hype moments are far more substantial and meaningful. I don't think Su has ever redirected spirit energy
Sue : say my name !
Roshi and Lupa : 14:02
Sue : You're goddamn right !
That Beifong fight was one of the hypest in all of avatar ngl
Zuko vs Azula. Aang vs Ozai 🥱
@@Ha5hi_ ONE of the hypest, can't you read?
I can for sure say it had the best choreography out of all of them
@@Ha5hi_aang vs Ozain was meh but the other one with zuko and aula and good.
Korra's hypest moment was easily her hulking out and trying to kill Zaheer
She's got some big moments in the 2-part series finale too.
I notice the Korra series is not as protagonist heavy as the last air bender. In TLA Aang was the focus of every arc and subplot and all the characters were either supporting him or against him, whereas Korra is not relevant to every story in LoK
Their reaction when su used the metal door as armor best part of the video❤️😅
@@MysticCat21 Tenzin literally accredited Korra throughout season 3.
@@jonathanjohnson6727 Haruto Kurogane was referring to the Fandom, or, at least, people who watched The Legend of Korra.
@@takeover2145 well its not the ATLOK crowd. At least those who are fans of the series. It mainly comes from those who are fans of ATLA only.
This episode highlights the differences between the Beifong sisters fighting styles. Lin is more straightforward in wanting to beat up her opponents while Suyin thinks on her feet AND out of the box. Something they each picked up from Toph (the best of Mom, if you will).
I need my own spirit cannon
perhaps then the West would leave us alone
Always great to see Toph back in action
7:39 I'm still a firm believer that Toph killed her baby daddies by snu snu. She crushed their pelvis after she got what she needed.
So like a black widow?
13:54 one of the best moments of season four!
Sue is a beassstttt!!! But Lin is just so - such a goddess
The Jim Jones reference at the beginning got me rolling, I ain't heard that song in years. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've seen ppl say that just some back troubles aren't a big deal, Toph would be able to manage
Trust me, when your back suddenly locks, it LOCKS, exceptionally painfully if you're doing something stressful at the time
I like how toph just keeps her hands behind his back LIKE A BOSS
Toph: you got to leave it to the kids
Zuko: I have to help protect the avatar
MY HONOR!!
HONOOORR HONOOOOR 🤣
I like how when Toph was about to speak they got quite real quick.
this episode has my favorite fight from both series 😫
14:54 I KNEW they would put that song at that moment 😂😂
I'm so anxious and curious if yall are uploading code geass after Korra
Su putting on that armor is probably one of my favorite metal bending moments.
one of the best episodes of the season!!
The fight between Su Yin and Kuvira is by far my favorite in the series. That opening kick from Su Yin is just *Chef's kiss*
Of course she stopped when she saw Toph. Imagine the INVENTOR OF METALBENDING calling you out like that 😵
It was also out of respect. If she tried to fight toph she would probably lose the respect of so many of her followers
You guys always upload when I’m sad and your video’s always make me feel better
The add in after “you give metal benders a bad name!” Killed me 😂😂😂
Lowkey that music, when Toph showed up was badass, that editor is a goat
You give love a bad name - bon jovi

Korras had so many hype moments I literally don’t know wat u even sayin

I know its to late but Lins Father Appeared in the comics from avatar the last airbender ❤
Bruhh that kuvira vs su fight is one of the illest
That fight between Suyin and Kuvira was so short, but one of the best fight scenes in the whole series.
@@CrownedNatty Weird that a person like Toph, would become a chief a police, feels like a complete 180 of her wanting to live a life of freedom.
@@Max25670 true but I think being in team avatar kinda got her thinking she can stop bad guys all the time and develop her new skill.
The music when Toph dies the classic, point and yell in a directions she’s not looking. 😂

that scene of suyin using the metal panel as a spinning shield and then wearing it as armor is one of my favorite pieces of animation ever, im so glad yall acknowledged it so
The domes protecting Zaofu have been dismantled as per Kuvira's orders in "The Battle of Zaofu".
Roshi: YOOO
Lupa and Roshi in perfect sync: SUUUU
the perfect unison was amazing 😩😂😂
My day just got 10 times better
Meaning what
