When my Dad passed on after battling ALS I wanted to bring something for him to his services. I didn't want to give him something status quo or usual. I wanted to give him something special and different because he was special and different. I decided to cut a few springs of rosemary to give him. I did it because I wanted to symbolize that I would never forget him and I hope he remembers me. One of the hardest parts about the whole process of 'losing' him has been the idea of loss. I believe that he still knows me and I definitely still know him. While I 'lost' his physical form, I haven't 'lost' him. I am a Christian and I believe that his spirit is yet alive. It's very hard not having him here physically, but knowing that his spirit lives on and that he still exists (and not in an ALS-ridden body, praise God!) is a comfort to me.
I also think that plants like rosemary have helped me through the brokenheartedness of so many things, beginning with his diagnosis...and continuing through many other struggles I experienced over several years. The anxiety I experienced was debilitating and I feel that the Lord used plants to help me. He drew me to what I needed. Rosemary, Lobelia, many of the nervines like Valerian, Lavender, Chamomile, Lemongrass and balm, and Skullcap have helped. Most recently I have began using Motherwort for support. I definitely believe that the heart can be damaged, broken even, from grief.
    God bless!

Rosemary, my favorite herb, and that is hard to say, since I love many herbs. Recently learned that this herb can help clear the vitamin D receptors in the body. This herb hits in all categories.

I love to hear how people get into the herbalist field. This was a great interaction, I too once lived in Eugene a beautiful State with many happy memories evoked listening to Erika. Rosemary one of my favourite herbs which we also wear to remember those who lost lives in WWI and II.

Another EXCELLENT video, Rosalee. So much wonderful and easy to understand information. I really became interested in herbs, besides for using them in cooking, last year when I discovered a channel called Danu's Irish Herb Garden. Terri Conroy lives in Ireland and says a lot of the same things Erika has said here, especially that they choose you, you don't choose them. The more I learn about herbs, the more there is to learn. They're a never-ending story.
