This was worth the wait Kev! I'm loving it...living vicariously through you my friend!
awww Im glad you enjoyed. I tried to do more of a vlog style with a little less editing.
Thanks for taking us. Interesting ride! The mic inside the helmet, gopro setup is great👍
Glad you enjoyed it
I think I held my breath through this entire ride. OMG!!!! Safe travels 😊
You and me both!
Loved watching your ride. I was out there in 2015 and got a 125cc rental. Motorbike riding through Sukhumvit rd can be the ultimate thrill ride. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah it is crazy!!!
I just rewatch and got a Unbound Merino ad before your video started
haha..nice
Glad seeing your trip. Surprisingly the mic sounded better outside with the slight wind noise in added to the sensation of riding with you. In the helmet it sounded like you were in a box. Camera setup seems pretty solid. I like it better than videos from helmet mounted shots. Bumble bee 🐝 found bigger brother Bumble Bee 🐝. Not sure if I would be more comfortable riding amongst trucks or the motorbikes. Chaos driving rules; I’m in front, so I have right of way. Gotta be assertive or you get nowhere. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.
Thanks for the feedback on the mic!
Thanks for shooting this! So fun to ride along…. like virtual reality. Held my breath the whole time. Whew… Glad you made it there safe. Sending good vibes for future travels.✨
Thanks Stephanie.
REALLY enjoyed this! I spent over a decade in the Orient with the Air Force and this takes me back. I remember traffic so dense I actually lit a guy’s cigarette without either of us leaving our vehicles.
Places like Manila are just like Bangkok. Only the bold make it through the intersection. In Okinawa they often put mirrors on the corners so you can see the cross streets because the buildings are so close to the road.
I need to check out Okinawa. I've never been.
@@30AndAWakeUp It’s Japan’s version of Hawaii. Honeymooners flock there. Crowded, lots of military bases, expensive but truly beautiful cliffs and jungles with great diving.
If you like history, it was the last battle of WW2 and full of places to see. Two of my uncles fought there in the navy and both my sons were born at the navy hospital. Kind of a family connection I guess.
So cool that you got a pic with that giant Bumblebee and your BB! And omg, YES! I thought I was in a real-life game of Frogger and was leaning side to side, trying to get around all the trucks and cars 🐸🛵 😄. Almost as stressful as watching those insane Red Bull bike-y videos 😱😳😨😄😄😄. Can't wait to see your adventures keep unfolding!
Thanks Mari!
Welcome back! There was less wind noise with the microphone in your helmet, but you sounded like an airplane pilot. That stretch was probably the most treacherous, glad you made it safe;y. Look forward to seeing some Thai countryside! It will take an awful lot to beat the view from your last place. 🌈🌊☀️
Yeah, I already miss that view!
Slice of life is far more interesting than "sites". Enjoyed the post, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for taking us along on the ride! Heard one of my favorite phrases from bear country to motorbike country, “Keep my head on a swivel” 😊
haha..yeah! :)
I'm stressed out now. lol. fun to watch this adventure and hear you talk too.
Thanks man!
Bro! Your apartment is so nice! Love the big windows! I hope I can find in the same building, I'm going there in 3 weeks.
All the best!
The building is called The Cetus
Great video. I hope Queen Bee is open across the street. Good spot to catch some music. I agree on On Nut. I'm heading there when I retire in August. The Hyatt Place is also a great hotel nearby. It's only a few years old. I think I saw $35 a night. Or category 1 Hyatt points of 5k. That used to include a killer breakfast buffet. That's probably on hold. Have a good ride. Joe
Oh nice! I walked past the Hyatt a 100 times...was curious. And yeah, On Nut is great.
I made this trip in a micro bus as a passenger few years ago and while waiting for other passengers I have made a friend of the driver and bought him a couple of drinks and asked him to please do not go crazy speed, and I also bought him more drinks at the gas stop half way the trip, but he often drove over 120 KM and sometimes 140 KM changing lanes from the most left lane to the most right lane in few seconds. When you see drivers like this and he is typical of a Thai middle age driver, riding a motorbike on the same road with him is fun until you have an accident. Stay safe!
Exactly!!!
Hey man that's cool you used to live in the On Nut area, i used to live in Bang Chak which is close. I was able to see the side street in your video right after the BTS that I walked to and from every day. Very cool!
Oh nice. I want to try Bang Chak in the future.
Haha what a ride, looked challenging but like heaps of fun. Enjoy your stay in BKK, can’t wait to see the next leg 🏍
Thanks! Will do!
I have been to Pattaya on a weekend trip. I also lived in Bangkok for a few months, so I bet you trip on a motorbike was very interesting. Thailand is one of my favorite counties because the people are so nice.
Yeah, it was interesting. found some nice smaller cities i might stay in, in the future.
i hope to catch your live chat soon- looking forward to it!!🤗🌺🌅
Can't wait!
GoPro facing forward is excellent. The relatively wide angle gives us lots to look at. Mic in the helmet is better but just turn down the output volume a notch or two!
Thanks for the tips!
As a motorcyclist who is never a passenger, that was incredibly stressful to not be able to look all around. :-) Thanks for sharing!
No worries! Appreciate the comment.
Great to see you finally on the road with the motorbike! I just got done riding the Mae Hong Son loop. It was an amazing experience. You’re in for a treat.
so cool...going to do that soon! 😊
Will be doing the same route soon to Ratchadapisek... So you took the service road all the way to Bangkok? Looked like a smooth journey except for the Bkk traffic...nice video... Informative ... 👍
yeah, i took the service road
So cool to meet up with shipmates you used to serve with around the world. Love it!
Unfortunately, we weren't able to meet up. Next time! 😊
That was some crazy driving. You had me on the edge of my seat for sure😅. Watching all your videos now
Glad you enjoyed
Well done Kevin_
I think and I can feel from your VDO _you are a good motorbike driver!!!!!
haha...im ok! haha
Great video Kevin… Please give us more like this… Fantastic footage… I prefer the mic outside of your helmet for the record…
yeah...i like it outside the helmet as well
Hi from Chiang Mai! Weather up here is magnificent. Good move to come here in December.
Looking forward to those cool Chiang Mai nights!
Thanks so much for doing this! I would totally be like you stopping and taking pictures of everything by. Thanks so much for the details of everything: your camera setup, back back, motorbike, etc. I hope to get some gear too. I hope to travel there with my wife and son next year if possible. You are living an awesome life to be able to do all this exploring and sharing. Keep it up!
Thanks Af
I cannot believe that I just missed your video by approximately 30 minutes! Don't worry-I'll watch, for sure!🤗
You're the best!
Thanks so much for the vids... So informative... Thinking about going to your place in Pattaya....
Had a question... What's the longest visitor's visa you can get?
Thanks... And keep up the cool vids.
20 years but it cost a lot of money. Most westerners get 30 days that can be extended 60 days.
👍😂 @13:28 I was in the black Range Rover.
I’ve stayed at both the Hilton & Double Tree hotels before too. Nice. 👍💝
Yeah, I like them! Im a diamond club member now...so I get the nice room upgrade! Kinda excited! ha!
@@30AndAWakeUp - 👍You’ll like the upgrades for sure. 🎁💝
That is going to be an epic journey all the way to beautiful Chiang Mai. Have a safe journey buddy and can't wait for the videos.
Thanks a ton!
Just completed a 700 km trip over 2 days to isan in 14 hrs on same model scooter. Traffic not as bad as Bangkok but the patches in the roads are brutal. If one rides defensively and not like a maniac it's a joyful experience.
Yeah, It was better than I thought.
“It’s kinda like playing Frogger but in real life.” Perfect description 🐸
haha! yeah! Appreciate the comment! 👍
chang mai is the best most chilled place iv been to in thailand amazing
Yeah, I love the vibe there.
Hi Kevin, enjoying your films. I ride that route often between Pattaya and Victory Monument in Bangkok. First time it scared the ***t out of me but after a while you get used to the traffic. Personally I ride in the main road rather than the frontage as less likely to have someone pull out on you but do be very aware of the U turns. The big semi trucks can be a bit freaky but you know that they typically wont be going more than 90KMH (55MPH). The real bandits are the overloaded pick-up trucks who want to get past everything as fast as possible at any cost. Good mirrors and swivel head for rear observatioons needed. Riding under the elevated section can keep the sun or the rain off you too. At 08:30 time that's Bang Saen market. No lizards on that road so safe in that regard at least! Just got to watch out for the food and parcel delivery bikers in the city. You seem to have it pretty well figured out. I ride a Honda ADV150 similar size as your bike.
Appreciate the feedback. Love that Honda ADV
Ok video. Nice seeing some different parts of the country. (But why Pattaya??? So many interesting places here.) An idea: Maybe just skip the selfies, nothing personal, just making your videos even better. Good luck!
I like the beach condos at Jomtien. Thanks for the feedback...those selfies are an inside joke with folks that have been watching for awhile but understand they break up the vibe!
Love the format of this video, your venture north is gonna be great to see. Can’t wait! Do you anticipate having any trouble finding places to stay overnight while on the journey?
nah...they are everywhere. Im sitting in a very nice $18 a nice place here in a small city. So far it's been easy. 😊
A brave man riding a motorbike in Bangkok. You will really notice a big difference in the traffic up here in Chiang Mai.
Hope so!
Thanks for taking us along for the ride… I have to go dry my hands off now and take a few deep breaths…. Wow was that intense. I think in the states here there would be many more accidents with bikes in and out of traffic like that. Drivers just not use to that. Make me wonder if car drivers also are constantly swiveling their heads. If an accident occurs if almost think they would blame the bike rider?
It wasn't even rush hour either! It gets much, much crazier! haha!
Great video Kevin. Traffic is crazy. Stay safe.
Thank you, I will
Aloha Kevin! You survived Frogger! Glad the rain stayed away. Looking forward to your next road trip up north. In the meantime, please walk around the neighborhood and share your sense of how things are normalizing (or not) since the country reopened Nov 1st. Bill
Will do!
great video kevin, bangkok traffic is crazy'' well done
It really is!
Thanks for sharing!
Too cool with the Double Bumble Bee en route to the Double Tree!
🐝 🐝 🌳 🌳
Glad you enjoyed it!
😳😲🙈 Good GAWD KEV, you are so brave driving your motorbike to Bangkok. I almost died walking across the street in Australia…that one time. I think I held my breath through your entire video. HA, just like Oregon not being allowed to pump your own gas. I don’t own a vehicle thankfully or I would put up a fight each time I needed to pump gas as I grew up pumping my own gas. Wishing you awesome adventures ahead. PLEASE be SAFE!!
haha...you can't pump your gas anywhere in Thailand.
A tip for reading romanized Thai; "th" and "ph" doesn't make the usual "th" and "f" sounds, the "h" just emphasizes more air from the throat but they're just normal "t" and "p" sounds
thanks for the tip!
Safe travels Kevin glad to hear you've made it there safely.
Don't look back at Pattaya you we turn into a pillar of salt. 555
haha! I wont!
Glad to see you back.
Thanks Dan.
8:04 I thought you were going to say "luckily I haven't been hit by a car" after you mentioned the driving video xD
haha...yeah! I was kind of lucky!
Hey Kevin, great ride glad you arrived in BKK safe and sound. The hotel room looks amazing. 🙏👍
Thanks 👍
You're looking good you look like you're feeling a lot better be safe on your trip with pretty where you're going through I like the hotel you're at it's beautiful and stay safe and be careful out there and have a safe trip and enjoy yourself have fun because life is too short enjoy life and happy happy travels
Thank you, I will!
My anxiety will be through the roof riding my motorcycle in Thailand. You should wear more protective gear brother. I actually enjoy watching you ride the motorcycle. Be safe
Yeah, I definitely should wear more protective gear. Wait till you see my next vid!
Thanks Kevin for a interesting white knuckling motorbike ride. Ive seen from different movies where the motorbikes group up like that yet not experienced it myself. Been on the backside of a motorcycle and ended up getting thrown off it. Thankfully we were going REALLY slow and it was in the country. All i know is it takes a lot of intestinal fortitude to get in there and drive with the rest like everyone else. Really, I can’t wait to see MORE of what Thailand and surrounding countries have to offer us vicariously through you. Safe travels and ENJOY your time there. Deb
Glad you enjoyed it Deb!
What a wild ride!! I felt stressed for you! So glad you made it safely!
It was crazy! :)
8:28 thats not a little town , Its Chonburi town thats quite a big one but i guess you are going on by pass road if you didn’t see Central Shopping Center. And somehow all the way back to Bangkok is quite having traffic jam cuz it is urban area all the way. Thank you from Thailand
thanks for the info
We've been driving for about a month in Thailand, over 2000 kilometers already done and the roads aren't that great but it's an amazing experience. I will never drive at night it's the worst.
Yeah, I'd never drive at night.
Looking forward to the show. Down here in Krabi. Wishing you a safe trip Kevin. All the best. Mitch 🙏
Awesome! Thank you!
😱It was killing me to watch the video of you driving with your foot on the curb to squeeze by the cars & then squeezing between the cars.🥺😬😩😢 You have to be fearless to drive a motorbike there. Also you can get a comfy seat cushion for your motorbike. Wishing you more safe travels.🙏💝
Oh man...wait till you see the next video!
@@30AndAWakeUp - 😳😱
Hey Kevin, congratulations on your safe travels to bangkok, big trucks are always stressful on the motorbike. Looking forward to the rest of your adventure.
Thanks 👍
Nice trip… can’t wait to do the same once I get more hours on the motorbike ….
It's been good fun so far.
Very impressive driving! I’m afraid I’d be so busy watching traffic I might screw up and go on the incorrect side of the road.
yeah...im always reminding myself which side Im supposed to be on
Try a bigger CC bike... something like 600cc 2 cylinders..this will be good for town n county use..🙏💖
Yeah, maybe in the future.
You are brave Kevin, did you have to take a short ferry as when Lucas went to Hua Hin?
No haven't done that yet
Didnt he avoid driving through most of this by taking that little ferry. Pretty sure he turned off around on nut, maybe before. I can't remember, it's been awhile.
I'm sure the drive on the motorbike was stressful for you but fun for us to watch. I always find driving on the left side of the road stressful, especially on turns. I'm afraid I'll turn into traffic due to force of habit. Thanks for bringing us along.
yeah...driving on the left side adds to the difficulty for sure
Really enjoyed that Kevin 👍😁
Thanks Mark! Wait until you see the next one! Crazy, crazy day!
Glad to see more content. Your keister will adjust to longer rides. Before you know it, 12 hour rides will be a breeze.
haha...I hope so!
That was a hairy ride. Be careful on that bike. Another great apartment Kevin. Really enjoying watching your trip. Be safe. Jonathan 🇬🇧
Thanks! Will do! 😊
I've had 26 years of 2 wheel experience including a few years being a courier in London. The traffic doesn't seem crazier than central London.
yeah, it's not that bad
If your butt gets sore, get one of those mesh seat covers, comfortable for me, also the R model has gas shocks, well worth it.
I need to do that for sure!!!
Hey man, may I ask what is the model of the motorcycle in the vid? Looks very cool
Yamaha Aerox
@@30AndAWakeUp Big thanks man
If you live in bkk - this is light traffic and cool winter weather - easy drive 😂
Good to know!
Wild ride thru Bangkok. I was white knuckled just holding my phone. 😂😂😂
Wait till you see the next one!!! 😊
Kind of like playing Frogger in real life. Funny
haha...it is! haha! Glad someone got that reference! 😊
Wow, the views!
Yeah, pretty amazing! Going to miss that beach view.
Thank you Irving for sharing it
You bet!
I didn't hear a lot of drivers honking their horns? Everyone must be accustomed to the craziness of cars and cycles together!
Yeah, Thai driver's rarely honk.
Damn, that looks pretty sketchy. What do you do for insurance there? I’m like you and about to retire from the military. Do you get separate insurance there or can you use VA?
Like health insurance? There are all kinds of plans...I just pay as I go...it's sooo cheap. If something major comes up, I'll just go back to the US>
Thank you for taking us along. You just reminded me why I don't do road trips on a motorcycle. Yep I'll take the Jeep Patriot and it's climate control, stereo and roof over my head. Comfy seat is definitely a bonus. Well I think you need to go soak your.. bu in a hot tub. Thank you again for the video.
haha...i do need that! 😊
Welcome back!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Mark!
Glad you made it there safe, have fun!
Thanks Paula! 😊Safe trip to you!!!
Really interesting to watch that perspective. I don’t think I could handle the city driving. How did the city driving compare to the beach driving you just let? Wondering if there is a big difference in that respect.
The city driving was a million times more successful!
Entertaining isn’t a word I would use to describe that ride in Bangkok traffic! 😬 I feel for your poor mom if she watches your videos! 🥺
omg...wait till you see the next one! I hope she doesnt watch!
Were you stationed at Sigonella? I got to go there on Det.
No, I was stationed in Gaeta Italy.
Very cool ride ,
We will be leaving MI for CM in 3 weeks
Nice!
Hi liven welcome back it’s beautiful in Thai
Thank you!
Kevin I noticed some run down areas in the first leg of your trip. How does Thailand compare to Malaysia. What’s your thoughts on George Town, Malaysia.✌️
So Thailand and Malaysia are similar in a lot of ways but the one big difference is most of Thailand is Buddhist and most of Malaysia is muslim. So Malaysia isn't a place to go if you like to drink and party. But in my experience Malaysia is amazing and the food is next level good especially in Georgetown!
Where all those shops on the side of the road is Bangsean great beach
Thanks for the info.
Kevin, what’s name of condo building you just left in this video. Thank you.
The Cetus
Coincidence - I did my first scooter trip from pattaya to bangkok (and back) this week, and also stayed at the double tree on suk 26. I am going to avoid the highway next time. Just stick to Sukhumvit all the way
Yeah, that's probably smart.
You are not supposed to be on the highway with a motorbike. Sukhumvit only. Lucky you did not get caught, big fine.
@@neilallison8521 I wasn't on the motorbike restricted ones. I've got all those mapped out.
My message was for minarsana not 30 and a wake up
@@neilallison8521 i meant the highway under the motorway. I did see a few other motorbikes on there but I see your point. Not safe for 2 wheelers. Will avoid that route next time
We are waiting Kevin & Thank you
Thank you!
Have fun thank you
Thank you, I will 😊
6:53 foreshadowing the bumblebee gloves you will have to buy.
Yeah
I felt that the Mic sounded "fuller" when it was outside. @6:45 "Train farmer" 555
Yeah me too! ...ha!
You have earned a beer!
haha! 😊
Coming to Thailand in January man!
Nice!
Exciting ride. Thanks.
👍 Appreciate the comment.
you need to let everyone know the route you take to BBK as I think one can't go on the highway on a m/bike , I could be wrong though
will do
I got vertigo watching this. OMG. Driving there is insane. It's like no one even considers the risk of their actions.
Yeah, it's kind of crazy.
