Don’t underestimate the DP going up to that roof for two or three days before they shot this to get the exact 15 minute window when the dusk just breaks to sunset. This is a pretty remarkable video.
+Jamie Mitchell I have no doubt whatsoever that I have a larger musical collection, spanning far more genres and time periods, than you, and that I see far more shows all of kinds than you. Trying to start shit on RUclips via condescension doesn't make you a big man, it makes you a loser. Grow up.
I think I pretty much fell head over heels in love with Ira during this. Lol. Georgia and James might as well be a programmed loop - tightest repetitive playing I've ever heard.
Feedback is a helluva drug. I could watch Georgia drum all night long. At least 8 of the views here are mine. I just discovered YLT three weeks ago. Loving every minute of them. 💛
HOW THE HELL HAVE I MISSED THIS CLIP ALL THESE YEARS?! I've seen more than a few YLT guitar freakouts, including live, but this was absolutely the biggest, best guitar freakout/blow-out ever.
I remember my first impression of Ira Kaplan's guitar playing: Green Street Station Jamaica Plain MA. a dive bar and small. It was DEAFENING!!I turned to my friend who had brought me there and I said something like ''This can't be just mere entertainment, this is an endurance test'' I also seem to remember saying back then that this would never catch on! Well it's 25+ years later. Is the egg showing?
oh MAN were you wrong about that. close to 30 years at it, nearly nonstop, and they still bring more energy than just about any of the 21-year-old Brooklyn transplants out there.
I love this band. Ira and Georgia are musical heroes of mine and I love Georgia! She's a beauty and she rocks! No offence to Georgia but female drummers in general really heat my pants. I admit that humbly and gratefully!
10 years and i’m still coming back to watch this groovy meditative feedback fest. Great stuff
The same...
Yeah, I just came back for it, too. And I remember well when this just was released. 😌
yup it's epic
Meet you back here in another 10
have to watch it every 6-12 months. I love it

Soft sticks don't get used enough. It's such a lush, deep sound. Love it.
They look like everyday people - and as soon as they are making music they are the most beautiful people in the world. Amazing.
yes, sometimes real masters look very normal. But look deep in their eyes and you will find their inner madness. ;)
They look canadians ahah
She's one of the greatest drummers of all time, hands down
+Autobahnize yes, seriously. "Lol" indeed
she became,20 years ago,omg........

The bastard daughter of Mo Tucker
I love Yo La Tengo, but that is a completely asinine statement
I think I pretty much fell head over heels in love with Ira during this. Lol. Georgia and James might as well be a programmed loop - tightest repetitive playing I've ever heard.

Mr. Kaplan makes Hendrix happy in the electric heaven
this is why ylt is the best band ever
That's one badass drummer right there
Georgia's a cutie too.
HOW THE HELL HAVE I MISSED THIS CLIP ALL THESE YEARS?! I've seen more than a few YLT guitar freakouts, including live, but this was absolutely the biggest, best guitar freakout/blow-out ever.
Only 4 minutes in Ira kills it! Just the best.
Heavy transcendent Groove Monster! Wanna hear it in en endless loop
You said it.
oh ya it ROCKS!
Drop the nukes whilst listening to this. Exit this world very happy indeed!
love the fact that at the begining there is still sun-beams before the sunset... by the time the song is over, its nearly night
I keep coming back to this... one of the best things I have ever heard/seen. This should have it's own TV channel. Just loop it over and over...
Anyone else listen to this every day with their morning coffee?
me
Doing it right now bud! Tuuuuune :D
axwell21 Yeah!
axwell21 Me!
Yeah.....duh
It's glorious, isn't it? I wish more concert footage was recorded during "magic hour".
This has to be one of greatest performances of all time
I can't stop watching this.
I'm with you! Play repeat the whole night
have you stopped yet
This one is, by and large, the best "Don't look down" I've ever seen.
Man, Georgia is so damn good. I could listen to this amazing groove forever.
such an underrated drummer. her and James just keep it moving along so solid for all that time with Ira goes nuts.

This sum Arkestra sorcery.
this is my favorite video on the internet
Gawd. They make it look so easy, so effortless. Never stop the noise.
He did all the wear on that Jazzmaster just today.
The drummer is great to keep that beat going that long.
This clip alone justifies the invention of the internet.
An absolutely perfect masterpiece !!!
Ira Kaplan the most special guitarman of all the times!
Wow. Stunning. Actual musicians at their peak. An instant all time fave. YLT knows how to rock.
Literally rocking into the night.
You can actually watch the sky get darker throughout this whole jam. What a treat this video is!
Ira is brilliant, of course, but he couldn't do it without the solid and steady Georgia and James putting the groove under it all.
The best american band
The ultimate jam and if you play you know. Wow! Solid powerfull
Almost, but nowhere near seeing them live. Ira take another bow! WOW!
I think this is simply the best film/music combination I know of.
This is Yo la tengo. Great as ever, music from the bottom of the heart & bones.
I saw YLT in Spain in 2005 and I've been in love with them since. This is quite simply sublime!!
The greatest rooftop performance in the history of music.
this is the greatest video of all youtube, what can i say ...... for real, no lie
I've never heard this band before yesterday and man they are fantastic play like I do
I want YLT every day on my rooftop!
at 01:00 the guitar tuning was EADGBE. At 14:00, the tuning became DGCFAD
I'm pretty sure it has an open tuning the entire time.
Utterly, thrillingly awesome!
How fortunate to have a beautiful backdrop like the sky was that evening..
This is like a rothko painting forming the canvas for pollock to open his mind and let it flow its fuckin art like nothing we´ve ever expercienced
ooooh how glad I am that I am not normal and this heavenly music is my endless pleasure…
Fantastic production, cameras, audio, lighting, setting, action, editing, Yo La Tango, song. Thanks.
Ira sets the sky on fire...
Best band I've ever seen.
This might be the best song ever.
And that's including the time I seen them play I heard you looking on the I can hear the heart tour.
Great song. Definitely 15 minutes well spent...
i love watching the sun go down during this.
This song makes me want to live and die at the same time
If that song makes you feel that way, then perhaps this song will be equally rewarding/demanding, as well?

This is the soundtrack for Covid19 lockdown
Increible canción, una obra maestra de Yo la tengo. Aguante muchaches!
Awesome song by an awesome band in an awesome setting.

Giantcappuccino Got to be the red and white striped one.
But still rocking his red & white converse!

i still love it
Georgia said "i'm about to go nuts. yall do the same" and then the best performance ever just happened
I wonder how far this sound went out. Like was the whole city jamming out to Yo La Tengo that evening or...?
amazing
Words would not do this jam justice.
I love this band. Ira and Georgia are musical heroes of mine and I love Georgia! She's a beauty and she rocks! No offence to Georgia but female drummers in general really heat my pants. I admit that humbly and gratefully!
