20th minute of this video makes me hung on a moment where I was happy, free and innocent... Humble, elegant, pure musical sincerity in the finest level... God bless you.
It cannot be overstated just how good this band is and how much I love them. They have their own distinct YLT sound regardless of song or album or era.
29 Years ago and about 30 seconds into “Barnaby, Hardly Working” and I wanted only more. Yo La Tengo is the example of how an amazing band produces pure Music, and yet stays local.
i love them so much 😭 fell in love when I was 16, in 2014. went to their concert the same year and never looked back. they really marked all of my adolescence and they are such great, amazing musicians.
This was my first exposure to Yo La Tengo, and this album still remains to be my favourite. While other people will prefer their more acclaimed albums (I Can Hear the Heart, Electr-O-Pura, And Then Nothing etc) this album struck a chord with me in a way not many other albums have. We love you Yo La Tengo
They come as such a surprise that I think everyone loves their album of first exposure best. For me, it was Electro-Pura when it was hot off the presses. Recommended by a small CD shop in Madison, Wisconsin called the B-side. "You should really listen to this," said the knowledgeable dropout clerk. So I did.
00:00 You Are Here 10:05 Forever 16:25 For You too 23:12 Shades of Blue 27:45 Let's Do It Wrong 32:05 She May, She Might 37:20 jam sesh into Out of Pool 39:30 Out of Pool 44:40 Ashes 51:00 Here You Are (not sure if the outro song will have a smooth small start around 49:10) i took random stabs at guessing these song proper starts-they're phasing each song into the next as they switch instruments onstage. i highly recommend experiencing it like this. it's the entire new album, so excited for it
not sure if i have the power, seems that Pitchfork used my markers in the description so I guess I'm right? i edited it again with other markers I saw in the comments
Can't wait for Spring Tour! Really psyched to hear the new tunes.. This performance is a real treat, so thanks to all who helped put this together.. Yo La Tengo are truly the most under-rated band; such a distinctive & original back catalog.. And yes, _Painful_ has never recieved any of the due credit it deserves. I highly recommend everyone interested to catch 'em live in person. The way the trio switch between instruments during their set is really something to experience. Such a brilliant band.
I liked yo la tengo casually in high school (late 90s early 2000s). I picked up painful and didn't get it. it sat in my big ol CD case for a few years, when i needed ylt in my life i wanted to listen to "i can feel our hearts..."but a few years into adulthood after some tough times and heartbreak, I popped in Painful and experienced such extacy (no drugs involved). That first track alone...beautiful. It's now my fav ylt album
I prefer this than the album, they are just great performers!!! The energy that they had in in this and the transitions between songs really make it something exceptional and amazing, it is also excellent to sleep to
of the few currents bands of today that continue to amaze you and put you goose bumps, just great, you never get tired of listening to them and they always have something to offer.
Yo La Tengo have achieved mastery of their craft. Sounding the best they ever have, and showing that there is still room for experimentation and new sound in the finely worn niche that is their domain
I've just sat mesmerized for an hour...amazing talent! They don't seem to visit the deep south---so this is probably as close to live as I will ever see them--Thanks guys!
Love this band. Loved their album "Fade" -- something about the sounds of their music makes me want to cry: in a good way -- like a mix of melancholia and joy.
Incredible band, diverse, sharp and always got a few surprises up their colective sleeves. Gutted to have missed them recently due to Covid. Plenty of time to listen though.
The best band in the world
Yo La Tengo is where the heart is
How can you not be mesmerized by this band!?
Heard the opening drone, hit "like."
Love these guys. They haven't lost a single step.

I am only about 16 minutes into this, thought I'd enjoy some jams while folding laundry... I am devastated... such beautiful music
“For you, too” is majestic.
It's such a beautiful song ...
just thought so. wow.
♥️
To me they are the perfect band. I love this so much.
Agreed! They're incredible.
"If you like bands that suck you are going to hate this band"
Hey! It's John McEnroe! :-)
amazing guitar solo!
Listening to them and seeing them play you could easily forget how damn fucking hard it is to sound so good live.
46:58 Ira walks over to the drum set for one (1) cymbal hit
jajajaj ja crazy genius

Something so incredible about "For You Too", like being transported back to 1994.
One of my favorite songs, needs more love
Indeed😊

Can't belive they have been going so long, their sound has aged like a fine wine. Those song transitions though 😍
The first nine minutes are total bliss.
new zealander in australia here. farking love YLT what a band got introduced to them in 2008 in nyc. seen them live down under.
I absolutely adore this band. They are amazing.
The greatest of all the bands. Pure magic.
I prefer this than the album, they are just great performers!!! The energy that they had in in this and the transitions between songs really make it something exceptional and amazing, it is also excellent to sleep to
This is one of my favorite YLT recordings. Up there with I Am Not Afraid...
this session should be on vinyl
they've been my favorite band since I discovered them in 1995. So consistent with seemingly endless creativity and ideas!
Electro-pura was my favorite disc that year. Found it in a hole-in-the-wall music shop in Madison, WI called the B-side.
I love this band so much!
of the few currents bands of today that continue to amaze you and put you goose bumps, just great, you never get tired of listening to them and they always have something to offer.
So here we go. One of my favorite bands from 80's and 90's.
One of the best bands around. Got tickets to two shows in May.
seeing 'em in September!

¡Qué belleza! Los esperamos en Argentina... con dolor, nostalgias y disturbios en marcha.

I love the delicate vocal over the merge of sounds coming from these guys, superb work and great use of knowing when to play and when not too.
Wow! That was a sonic experience.
Yo La Tengo = still Genius + Love
greatest band in the world
obvs
Brilliance. Like meeting up with an old friend...
these guys blow sonic old out of the water any day
Forever blows me away, so pure, intense & deep. Best song i know about getting older in a relationship
best gift of the day
Yes, yes, yes. May there be many more uploads like this
Didn't even let the video play. Already hammered that thumbs up.
This video is my happy place.
These guys just don't age. Love them.
I've seen them live in '92, '93, '03, and haven't fully appreciated them until now. Go figure.
Welcome to the pain
I've just sat mesmerized for an hour...amazing talent! They don't seem to visit the deep south---so this is probably as close to live as I will ever see them--Thanks guys!
This performance is so wonderful. Otherwordly! I love Yo La Tengo❤❤❤
Yo La Tengo s'avère être le meilleur groupe des années 1990, 2000 et 2010.... pour ne pas dire 2020. Ce live est vraiment excellent.
Hey! That's French! :-)
Love this band. Loved their album "Fade" -- something about the sounds of their music makes me want to cry: in a good way -- like a mix of melancholia and joy.
I love that they use an old school ipod for the beat in the second song!
So much better on stage with all their loops in the background... They should perfom this way way more often, I wish they would...
They play so beautifully
Many thanks. Got my tickies to the SOLD OUT show in ATL. Color me excited.
La magia de la música pululando

In my family, we call them “Ira shirts.”
Are you kidding? He's been wearing the same striped shirt, blue jeans and all-stars for the past 35 years
Haven't we all...??
Mr. Kaplan's new combo was the surprise hit of the parent-teacher conference!

So increíbles los amo mucho 💖 💕
Wonderful.
Absolutely Majestic!!!!
Ira has aged so well. He even wears the same clothes he prob wore in 1987
Can't believe he's 61.
That shirt IS from 1987!!
I saw them in '88 and can confirm
Don't most of us wear the same clothes as 1987??
majestuoso
Best YLT album since 1997 I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One

Wonderful. This makes up a little for their not coming to Texas on tour this year.
Incredible band, diverse, sharp and always got a few surprises up their colective sleeves. Gutted to have missed them recently due to Covid. Plenty of time to listen though.
Yo La Tengo is God's house band.
