      Deadlock has long been the facecamper's (and now chokepoint/proxy camper) wet dream perk. It does way too much for way too little. It will still help do what it is supposed to do (intel+force off gen+Pig trap delays) and anyone using it without abusing it is safe. The only real change is whether or not people will have a different response to a Deadlocked gen, between rotate and wait. If people are waiting, then you can get into chase with them easily within the timeframe. If it forced them to rotate, the timer didn't matter anyways.

As a guy who primarily plays SoloQ, none of this matters. Soloq is just gonna do whatever the hell they want and no amount of nerfing gen regress is gonna fix that. Or I guess tunneling it is too bad it felt like dbd was a little more fun to play, so now I guess we go back to not fun playstyle. Chaos shuffle was an eye opener for me. I thought perks were the problems. No, it's gens are too quick. Granted, I didn't get regression perks, and survivors got like 5 plus a team plus 2 brand new parts still better than normal dbd. @Timothee_Chalamet_CMBYN 68 percent? Well, if it's that high, I'm surprised, but it's also a fake number. How many games are determined because you have an afk blueberry early. How many games are lost because survivors throw themselves at hooks in endgame? How many games are lost because you're more interest in bully killer than winning? I understand as I play both roles and win more than I lose as a killer it's usually I win because survivors were not efficient for many number of reasons. I lose because survivors decide to play to win and gen rush while having hood map rng, and I didn't run regression or tunnel, and now I'm down to 1 Gen with 4 hooks. As survivors, I usually solo, and I lose because tunneling or I win because no tunneling. For me, I don't run three of those perks hardly ever and barely use pop. However, I recognize how important they are. As a survivor, I run sweaty builds as I am solo and don't know my team quality. My fear as a survivor is now tunneling, and camping will be even worse as it will feel like what else can killer do? Slug end game build is not really going to happen. I don't know, man, games were feeling better on both sides. I now think it's going to get bad again real quick, hopefully not.

    I think the core issue is not entirely gin regression in fact, I say it’s the opposite. The reason why killers feel the need to use general regression is because gens are going insanely quick. With the right build I can Do a generator in 27 seconds. Solo.
    That’s right with a specific build you can do a general not only under 45 seconds but almost in 20. How is a killer supposed to counter that? In my opinion, if we are going to focus on fixing gen regression, we also need to focus on probably adding a cap onprogression. So that we don’t have these situations where Jens are done so insanely quickly that killers feel there is zero chance to win the game unless they use scummy tactics or all regression especially on killers who are not in a tier or higher especially now that we have the limit on how much a killer can actually kick generators. Survivors have basically made it to where they will always win given enough time that there is no real counter to their rush, tactics and if you play in any way to try to slow them down, you will be screamed at for being a horrible killer.
    What I think needs to happen is we need to address certain issues with generator perks quite a lot of them don’t stack a additionally they stack multiplicatively with each other other. I think we need to bury the 3G kick limit until we are actually at two or one Gen in order to make some perks like eruption not useless again. I think that there needs to be something like when one generator is completed all progress and all other generators are reverted back to zero or buy a progression percentage like 80% or something like that in order to prevent three pops incredibly quickly and encourage survivors to actually, coordinate or something. the current way the generators are done is not sustainable and is causing every single toxic thing in this game. We need to address it.

    Nerfing perks is easier than reworking almost all maps. The maps are the issue, they always have been, and sadly most maps these days have at least one 3 gen that doesn't take much to defend (just look at the new map; I don't even bother going down in the tower to kick the gens, I let them do them and then I have my 4 gens above ground that I can easily patrol and defend), and if you have a lot of gen regression, it just becomes a never-ending game of kicking and touching the gens. I agree that it was unnecessary to nerf the perks as they've already been nerfed not too long ago, and on their own, they weren't an issue, the problem is you could stack them with each other and that could become the issue, but it takes a lot less effort and resources to just change the numbers in a perk than rework dozens of maps and their gen spawns.
    Also, let's not forget that a lot of new killers are easy to 3 gen with, and that's why they're so popular (has anyone else noticed a rise in Skull Merchant players the last couple weeks? I go against at least three per night). I feel like if the 3 gen killers weren't in the game, the gen perks wouldn't have gotten nerfed so hard.
    I hope that one day they'll fix the maps and then buff perks again, for both killers and survivors, but I feel like that's never going to happen because it would be too much effort. Until then, we'll just have to live with them nerfing everything into oblivion so the game becomes more and more unfun for everyone.

    The disappointing part about this whole dance is that it's such an easy problem to solve. Instead of balancing generator repair speeds around regression perks, they could just make regression perks weak, slow down gen speeds to account for that, and then everyone wins. Killers get to run chase or endgame perks, or try to come up with cool builds that actually synergize with their powers instead of being forced to run 4 slowdown perks just to keep from getting 5 gen'd in the first three minutes, and survivors could bring more interesting perks instead of running meta gen rushing perks and loadouts, as well as have a more interesting gameplay experience (since chasing and being altruistic is just innately more stimulating than sitting in a corner holding M1)
    It's so obvious, and yet BHVR just don't get it. I don't know if it's a function of them not playing their own game, like how they needed to play a match on stage years ago to finally nerf v1 flashlights, or if it's just stubbornness or trying to prove they "know best", but they refuse to just take this very easy step to make the game fun. It's bizarre.

    One of the best chapter released with one of the worst balance update released. This game needs basekit changes for killers.
    One of the biggest problem is that 1st survivor can die between 3rd hook and 9th hook. How can you balance around that?
    This is why I would suggest introducing "mori token system". After getting at least 5 hooks on 3 different survivors and nobody is dead. Game will give killer mori on 6th down no matter the hookstates of survior. This will average 1st survivor death more and then they can make hardcore tunneling even more punishing. Like anti face camp expanding range if outisde chase etc. I don't believe killer should see hook progress nor reassurance to make proxy camp strategy even weaker.

    I think the issue here is that these aren’t ran by themselves. But that’s not what is deserved for these perks.
    They need to create a way to worsen gen slow down/regression but only when you run more of them. A basic example would be like “If you have 3 regressions the value of your regression goes down by 20%
    So pain rez becomes 10 pop becomes 24% etc etc”
    But when you run 2 or so it’s got no penalty.
    Because the only issue with these perks is vsing a strong killer or player with a full gen regression/slowdown build.
    But this is just me trying to find a way to keep the value of these while dealing with the strength of them in more sweaty unfun builds.

    So overdramatic. These perks are still STRONGER than they were before they were buffed the first time. Let’s also look at a few more points that everyone fails to mention: gen speeds were already nerfed over a year ago. Toolboxes were already nerfed too. Even one of these perks can completely undo all of the progress of the best toolbox. The speed at which killers kick gens was buffed over a year ago. The base regression amount was increased. Gen tapping was removed. All of that and you still HAVE to rely on gen regression perks that can be synchronized for even more value?
    That’s not enough, however. Gen pressure isn’t just about regressing gens. I guess if you all knew that though you wouldn’t be acting like it’s the end of the world. Slowdown perks still exist such as Corrupt Intervention which can completely counter Deja Vu thus making it easier for the killer to establish a 3-gen. Speaking of 3-gens if you have ever actually run Deja Vu you’d see that it’s actually possible for every single gen on some maps to be in a 3-gen. Oh, but 3-genning was removed? No, holding a 3-gen indefinitely was removed. 8 regression events per generator is more than generous, and if you need to keep regressing the same three gens you aren’t winning the game - you are stalling it. No different than survivors who just hide in lockers the entire time, but we also have a mechanic for that - idle crows. But slowdown isn’t limited to perks - most killers either have built-in slowdown or the ability to patrol gens easily or a combination of the two.
    Let’s go over some of those. Pig - some of the best slowdown in the game, and you don’t just get that but also the chance to kill a survivor while being able to ignore them or to just make them an easier target overall. Doctor - other than the ability to shock survivors off of gens from a distance you can slow them down by progressing them to tier 3 madness. Skill checks also become more difficult. Run Merciless Storm and you’re guaranteed value. Wraith and Hillbilly can traverse one side of the map to the next with ease and get stealth and instadowns to cut down on chase times. Unknown can use his projectile from a distance to patrol gens and potentially injure or down survivors repairing them not to mention his ability to instantly teleport from one place to the next. Knight and Skull Merchant are able to zone gens and get information on who is working them. Freddy, while lackluster, can teleport directly to generators. Demogorgon can place portals near gens and gain stealth when using them. Dredge can teleport to lockers to patrol gens easier while taking advantage of nightfall to provide slowdown or catch repairers off-guard. Nurse & Blight clearly have no problem patrolling gens or limiting chase times for obvious reasons. Legion gets incredible speed and information through their power, and can utilize it to cut down chase times while providing slowdown through mending. They can also pretty much keep survivors injured or get even more slowdown if they choose to keep healing. Plague gets the same benefit of keeping survivors injured. Xenomorph can travel to gens incredibly fast through her tunnels. Singularity can patrol gens from a distance and teleport to survivors working on them. Trapper can slow survivors down with his traps and can potentially use those traps to protect gens. Hag can also trap gens and utilize said traps for easier traversal and chases. Spirit, Oni, Twins, Wesker, and Onryo all have great mobility through their powers with the added benefits of stealth (Spirit), and instadowns (Oni.) Wesker and Onryo have built in slowdown through their powers and can punish survivors who don’t try to counter them far easier. Nemesis also gets a slowdown similar to Wesker’s. Really good Huntress players can snipe survivors from a distance. Clown can utilize his bottles to chase survivors off of gens. Pinhead has the best slowdown in the entire game by either keeping survivors off of gens with the lament configuration or making them nearly impossible to do should it go unsolved. Artist can get information and chase survivors off of gens from across the map. Even killers like Myers and Ghost Face, though without higher mobility and zoning powers, can utilize stealth and exposed to end chases faster.
    That’s not even to mention hex perks which provide general slowdown, add-ons that affect generators, and other general slowdown perks like Thanataphobia & Dying Light as well as unique perks like Tinkerer or Surveillance. The perks that were nerfed weren’t even nerfed that hard (as I said they are still stronger than they were pre-buff for the most part.) And people complaining that survivor perks were left untouched? Let’s go over those too…
    Prove Thyself was already nerfed a year ago. It can be powerful but also requires gathering on the same gen which is not something good survivors tend to do outside of clutch situations. Deja Vu is best for making space between gens, the 6% is also good in clutch situations but doesn’t provide a game-breaking advantage. Technician will prevent loud noise notifications but regress your gen even further. Stake Out is a great perk that is easily lessened via undetectable killers and perks, and despite being great it still doesn’t provide enough of a boost on its own to make a huge difference, once again, outside of clutch situations. Better Together simply shows other survivors what gen you’re working on. Great if you’re relying on Prove Thyself but better to spread out the pressure. Repressed Alliance can prevent the killer from kicking your gen…. right away…. But also won’t protect it from perks that regress gens. Built to Last can be amazing if you bring the best toolbox and add-ons but requires you waste time in a locker, and your progress from said toolbox can still be undone. Visionary is a useless perk. Fast Track can provide great value but mostly in clutch situations and only when your team is at a greater risk. Blast Mine can slow a killer down but won’t stop them from regressing your gen. Rookie Spirit can be helpful, but is typically a waste of a perk slot. Overzealous can be strong if things go right for you, but you lose your bonus every time you lose a health state. Hyperfocus can also be incredibly strong, but requires a lot of skill to utilize well, is reset anytime you stop repairing, and can be a risk due to the speed at which your skill checks can go. Quick Gambit was buffed but is still rather useless overall. Friendly Competition is another great perk but also once again comes down to grouping together on gens. Scavenger was nerfed into uselessness before the chapter even went live. And then we have Invocation and Bardic Inspiration. Even post-buff you won’t find Weaving Spiders on my load out. When you’re down to 1-2 gens it can be incredibly helpful for killers who are pressuring gens well, but I’d much rather have a non-broken teammate doing regular gens than 3 teammates doing 80 second gens because the user was tunneled out. And Bardic Inspiration is also great but requires time to use that could, in most cases, be better spent just sitting on a gen. So of all those gen perks that survivors have the only ones that can often make a huge difference are Built to Last, Overzealous, Hyperfocus, Fast Track, and Weaving Spiders but all are either situational, come at a great cost, require time that could be spent simply repairing gens, or can be easily undone or countered by most regression perks.
    Killers also get slowdown by simply hooking survivors. Anytime you are able to keep survivors off of gens whether they are healing, cleansing, or dealing with a killer power you are taking advantage of slowdown, and killers who can end chases faster with powers that favor chases or utilizing exposed and stealth mechanics will also be given a greater advantage when it comes to slowing down gen progress. There’s a reason less than 40% of survivors escape their trials on average.

    Ruin 2.0 and Pop weren't the issue in that Meta, them combined with unlimited Tinkerer made the the combo OP. Gen regression perks on their own aren't the issue, however together combined create the issue and gives an insane leverage the moment 4v1 turns into 3v1. Killers get rewarded for tunneling and slugging with absolutely no counterplay while using gen regression perks at the start of the match turning it into a 5 gen match with 3 survivors. These perks need to get stronger later, not earlier and it is why I feel it's time that generator have a different objective to powering up gates, meaning they need to have an additional requirement or change the way generator power up works. That is the only thing that Dead by Daylight can do at this point to save the game.

  • @strongwolf8534
    @strongwolf8534 2 месяца назад +2

    I'll be honest and say that I disagree with your conclusions. Your analysis is spot on, the most fun part about DbD is the chase ***AND*** the hide-and-seek elements, with there being two notably divided camps on the issue and, quite literally, the argument of what to do about gens getting in the way. Generators are intended to serve as a point of forced interaction, which is why coms were initially banned. Excessive coordination breaks the original, intended balance of the game, which has been well proven, and the devs have spent years trying to figure out this ONE problem after being bullied into putting coms in.
    With all of that in mind, the truly optimal choice would be to remove the generators as a condition for winning. don't remove them all together, but don't make them the core objective either. Instead, have each match on a 15 minuet timer and make it so each generator knocks one minuet off the timer, with 8 generators in the match, this ensures that killers would have at least 7 minuets to hunt down and kill survivors.
    So what to do about generators? simple, remove all the gen kick/regression buffs and remove the limit to kicking generators (*also give more points per kick). Gen kicking is an essential part of blood point farming for killers, which is an important part of matches that give players a needed break form the sweat and even anger towards dumb things in the game or players (on either side) playing like jerks. Now what about gen regression perks? remove them from the game entirely or make them block generators for a short duration to reward the killer for additional chases, What about gen speed perks? nerf them but keep them in the game. remember, the killer has a guaranteed 7 min in game and in normal DbD that's average time for a 2k.
    Yes, this ensures that killers will basically get kills. But what else this allows for is:
    1) darker, spookier maps that are better for hiding;
    2) maps that are better designed for a solid mix between hiding and chase;
    3) builds that line up with the DbD lore in which teammates might even sacrifice their friends as a means of beating the clock
    4) matches in which it is impossible for killers/survivors to hold the other side hostage.
    5) truly scary killers, this simple design change opens the doors for older killers to have more unique powers and traps designed to hunt down survivors without the fear of a SWF demolishing generators and leaving before they even have a chance to begin building pressure.
    6) and so very much more, already late from intermission so I need to get moving, lol.
    My change, coupled with your perk currency and some perk reworks could turn this game into something that is incredibly satisfying to the casual and competitive player, especially if the devs reinstate the win condition for any survivor to get out alive, meaning they have to beat the clock. For those who take issue with this, please understand that this would be the most lore accurate way to play the game on many levels, starting with the simple fact that the survivors aren't actually against the killer, they are surviving a gauntlet which the killer is both the tool and trap that needs to be survived against. By having a set timer, survivors will need to do more than work as a team to "beat the killer", they will also have to consider sandbagging each other in order to avoid being caught and killed with no way out other than potentially sacrificing a friend. Killers won't be under pressure to force kills quickly, the devs will have so much more breathing room to deal with camping/tunneling/slugging, survivors will need more varied builds not only to survive the killer, but also each other, and it allows for more trolly perks or perks/survivors who are more hostile to the others.

    Two months after the video dropped and already feeling the effects. Sweaty Killers have since started slugging for kills again because there is no consistent gen defense, weaker killers are vanishing by the day, and 2V8 is taking over the scene to fill the void. I play killer almost exclusively and actually kinda dropped off because of how sweaty the gen rush builds are. I had three gens pop in the first 30 seconds of a match today. I was playing singularity with a stealth build. They called me trash when I allowed them to unhook when there was only one gen left, despite only having four hook states.

    I once heard someone say that the reason why many survivors want things nerfed for killer is because they want to go back to a time when killers were easy to bully, because they had little to no tools to counter toxic playstyles such as instant-blinds, infinants and locker blinds.
    It looks like the game is slowly moving back towards a meta, where killers will be bullied but by gens moving so fast that they can only really play the game in EGC then have no choice but to watch survivors TBag their way out of the gate.
