I got a 2016 and i also wish i got a golf gti instead lol. I love my velo but the turbo model does lack power. Hyundai shouldve put in the same 2.0t that they put in the genisis.
I’ve seen 500 hp in a 1.6T Veloster Turbo so 400 is do-able. Yes there was a lot if money put into it but it was worth it. The VT is an incredible car that does everything right.
Hey man. Just found your channel. Exactly what I was looking for after my Elantra Sport 6MT purchase. Thanks for making this content! Looking forward to pushing up the power.
@@AustinSWarren any tips regarding when to upgrade clutch when going for more power? When does the stock one become obsolete and things like that. Appreciate what you're doing. Easy to find these types of videos about other platforms... Not so much with the KDM options!
@@brandoES17 I don't have a manual so I don't know off of the top of my head, but the stock clutch is probably fine for FBO power. My 2 friends that had manuals were pushing that kind of power and I believe they were on stock clutches. Kdmtuners has alot of clutch options with torque ratings to help pick what you're looking for though!
Also TY for the replies in the Forums lol. I'm trying to just hit like 210 220 FBO in my 16 DCT Ulti - with Tork Tune Stock Turbo and IC. Later this year I may do a FMIC. Do you mind if I PM you just a few simple questions?
I used to laugh every time I see one of these cars on the street because they look like a little toy car from outer space or something until my friend bought one 2016 Veloster Turbo 6 speed manual I was surprised it has a little pep in its step it can get up and go don't let the looks fool you
Do it! I’m trying to build my 16 Veloster turbo dct right now lol tork downpipe, tork intercooler, and waiting on my ark exhaust. I’m just worried about finding someone who can tune it. Hell if I can get ATLEAST 300whp I’ll be stoked with full bolt ons and a tune lmao
I got a 2016 VT 6 speed manual and making about 216 whp after a tune. Only thing engine wise I've done is intake and changed the muffler. I'm thinking of getting a downpipe, going lower with lowering springs or coils next. Maybe get a carbon fiber hood, not really sure yet.
Sounds like it's making some fun power! You could probably make a little more with the right tuner. You don't HAVE to do a downpipe but replacing the midpipe would help out with power a bit. Lol I honestly can't wait to be done with performance mods and start working on more cosmetics!
Are you thinking about doing an updated mod list, I’ve been following along every now and then for a few months, I just recently blew my motor but I was hoping to see what I should do when I put a new one in
Haha yeah it's on my to do list. To be fair, not much has changed on my car in a while other than tuning. I'm pretty close to the limit on how much I'm willing to spend, on this project at least. I have a doc of what's on and off of the car if you'd like to look at that while you wait for another vid haha.
Which PTFE fuel line did you get? I'm seeing a ton come up but I'd like to know which ones you got since they are working for you. Also, sorry in advance for the questions. I might ask a few more because I'm looking to do the same as you with my VT
Hey bro, interested in seeing if you can get close to that 400hp mark. I'm dealing with a 2013 veloster turbo auto and im working to getting 300hp myself. Not sure what power im making but I currently have: -Magnaflow exhaust/ pierce motorsports catless dp / vibrant bottle style resonator -60mm throttle body -Injen sri -NST underdrive pulley -Sxth element cold pipe -Megan Racing strut tower brace -Pierce motorsports Front tie bar -Pierce motorsports rear torsion beam Power stop drilled and slotted rotors/ performance ceramic brake pads -ADD V2 single oil catch can I'm still working on getting a tune from Blood type racing after I get a fmic from whoever.
300 is definitely attainable! But I will say on the 2013-2015 engines... The rods are paper thin so most tuners that know anything don't take those past 240. You can have the engine replaced with a later model or go in and beef up the internals. But just watch out for that! 😁
@@AustinSWarren Thanks for letting me know. I was eventually I was gonna rebuild the engine for a turbo upgrade, but since you mentioned the rods being weak maybe I should do the rebuild before I even do the tune?
@@Jetlife33 talk to your BTR about it, they should be able to advise you on those earlier engines. I know QTP, Tork, Sxth and N75 don't let you push those early engines because they like to go boom 😂. I would look at a rebuild if you plan for your next performance bump to be your last. Nothing wrong with tuning 230 or so, then rebuilding and tuning again for final form, just depends on what's gonna keep you most happy with the car!
Haha oh. I don't recall but here's the part number! 35100-2E000 You will need to either have a throttle body spacer with ports, or make a tap yourself for the EVAP hose. I recommend the spacer.
you def need better tires..those factory wheels are heavy af..my 20 inch wheels are 15 pounds lighter per corner than those same wheels plus traction is better with better rubber and wider tires
I actually just changed the setup. Unfortunately I gained a pound per corner. Enekei TS5's aren't much lighter than stock. But I'm on 245/255s now so the grip is there at least.
@@AustinSWarren I'm 225/30/zr20s 8.5 inch wide. 500 dollar a piece tires as well..I had a veloster I have a 2022 kona n line now.. I swapped tired bone stock and it imported traction and cornering..

The rods on the '13-'15 are about paper thin. The rods after that were beefed up by alot. It's already been done on this engine though. Not saying 400whp would last me long on stock internals though lol
@Whitout1 its possible because it's already been done/documented. Now, I'm not arguing that 400whp is reliable at all on stock internals. 370 might end up being my limit. But a few rods and piston later the sky's the limit. At least until the cylinder starts to walk... But I have no dreams to go past 400 so it's not a big deal to me.
I'm waiting on my tuner but full engine build and big turbo and I'm gonna be 400whp.... so yes it is possible for the baby 1.6 to make that power.... there is a couple that's around 500whp and a buddy of mine is in the works of building a 500whp veloster

Hey! Yeah 300whp is definitely achievable in a DCT so long as your tuner can manage the torque well to keep the trans happy.
