Brilliant idea and awesome final video. Were you able to do it in one go or you have to adjust the angle of the camera while on the monopod?
Thanks! I didn't have to adjust the angle at all, just leaned the monopod a bit further back as I got closer.

Result! I once shot a hyperlapse of Tower Bridge from London Bridge, with my camera and 70-200mm lens held over my head (I'm somewhat tall, but not tall enough). Exhausting! Wish I'd thought of this monopod trick, genius (of course, I don't have a monitor either, something else to buy :-)
I've subscribe to your hyperlapse course, but I still struggle stabilizing drone hyperlapses - any suggestions or a video on drone hyperlpases would be amazing!!
Try the manual point tracker in AE, I believe there's a video about that in the post-production chapter for hyperlapse editing!

Yes I did, some zoom blur in AE

any tips on the tilt at the end? how do you make it as smooth as possible, by how many increments/degrees do you tilt up/adjust the tripod-head?
All you do is track the anchor point on the building using the crosshair (or a focus point in your camera viewfinder if you're shooting without a monitor), so there's an ever so gradual change as you take a step each time. Same as any hyperlapse really!

Thanks and well spotted! That was a quick n dirty mask added in after effects with a zoom blur applied, I then keyframed the position of the 4 keyframes to move with the position of the cathedral.

I wonder if you could power the rig from a battery on the foot of the monopod? Make it better balanced & less top heavy.
Yeah I had a mini v-lock with me that I can mount at the bottom but didn't end up needing it!

I love the fact that i can walk continuously without stopping, using my Samsung Galaxy S20 on a selfie stick (for the height) and it automatically creates amazing hyperlaps videos. This set up may give resolution but oh My gawd it would take a full day. Plus post photo editing. Mine took only the time that an average person walks across the bridge.

@Matthew Vandeputte yours will probably look more professional and youll have more control over your editing and any effects or styles. Which i wont have. Its good to see the work you put into it. I use selfie stick for height too! Lol
nice workflow. technically you should always get away with a monopod like that, yet wouldnt be surprised if people dont try and moan..
Yeah I prefer shooting handheld but for longer shots like this a monopod is better than a tripod, especially in busy spots like that
