The real problem is that aggression, and disrespectful behaviour is institutionalised within the game. At all levels, so you have a situation here of Gabby trying to normalise the terrible behaviour here as somehow okay, because it's always been that way. It's simply unacceptable behaviour. No ifs no buts. Football is at a crisis point. And everyone seems to have their fingers in their ears, eyes shut, la la la I can't hear you I'm not listening. Between the terrible behaviour on the pitch, a number of players behaviour off it, the lack of financial support for the lower leagues leading to financial collapse, and the complete lack of home grown players in top flight football, then add in the shocking price of going to actually see a game, the game now looks like an entity that won't take much to bring it to a fail. The terrible behaviour is just part of the mess that football has gotten itself into. But unless they take very strong action to sort this out, no one will believe that the game is capable of sorting out the other issues it faces. Tick tock tick tock.

The 10 yard rule in rugby wouldn't really work in football because if you are in your own half an extra 10 or 20 yards up the pitch is not as beneficial for a footballer as it is for a rugby player. The 10 minute sin bin that they use in rugby would certainly work in football for things like dissent, talking back to the officials, diving etc
@@paulheseltine1792 it was 20 years ago. FIFA and IFAB scrapped it claiming non rugby playing countries didn’t understand or agree with it. It’s basically same as every other rule that means FIFA and the Home Nations and those in power have less control and influence in games means it won’t happen….can’t have natural games being won fairly on the pitch now can we in a sport worth billions and billions. You can quite easily give the attacking team the choice of where to take freekick…same as in rugby where there’s 2 penalties due to play on and they can choose which one to restart play from.
We give this more coverage than every single horrendous decision we get every week from these incompetent refereess that have replay called var to help them
Why should they show respect to people who are 100% responsible for the downfall in the enjoyment in football? Stopping the game every minute for minimal contact, getting almost every big decision wrong and stopping the game to do so. Footballers are passionate and have character so why are we comparing it to egg throwing meat heads who have spent all week getting concussed?
Bottom line, rugby is a private school game and respect is a core foundation. While rugby refs don’t tolerate any nonsense, at least you can have a conversation with a ref in football, regardless if we still think you can’t. Think football refs get on ego trips? Watch a rugby match.
Captain should be the only person to be able to have a "discussion" with the referee in-play. And what's it going to do arguing with the ref mid game, they are not going to change their decision once it's been made, unless overturned by the video ref (which I don't agree with becuase the ref whistle should be the final say), and if they do overturn it, they're a flaky ref.
Mitrovic has a record of getting upset with referees, but this time went way too far. I think a half-season ban is needed, if only to calm him down, never mind set an example. The players are getting more diva-ish all the time. The referee’s decision (subject to VAR) is final. I don’t think I’ve ever known a referee change their mind about an offence, except in conjunction with an Assistant referee or VAR, which means that they don’t respond to players’ appeals or verbal tirades. Ever. So why do they bother? I’d like to see the extra 10 yard rule brought back. Maybe a Sin Bin. Maybe only captain can speak to referee. There are issues with VAR, but that’s another matter for another time. Those who feel badly dealt with don’t always have a fair reason for feeling so. Has a manager knowingly ever missed an opportunity to make a claim for a penalty or free kick that never was? Very rarely.
Why don’t refs ever get ounsihed for so many mistakes that costs relegation cup finals months upon months of players careers due to injury league titles many more
Utter claptrap! Instead of calling for message sending why not call for consistency? Bruno has gotten away with it so we have to make an example of a player from a small team!
Still going in about Bruno. Mitrovic was pushing the referee in an aggressive manner and pushing him back in an intimidating manner pushing his finger in his face swearing foul language. Same thing with Bruno right? Bruno was petulant as the linesman pushed at him first but zero aggression like Mitrovic. Get over Bruno now and accept Mitrovic was far worse.
Nigel Owens, not Nigel Jones.
Footballers could learn a lot from rugby players when it comes to respect
Spot on Nigel. Sin bin could be a good idea for dissent...?
It's Nigel Owens not Jones
Best/most famous rugby referee on the planet and Talksport get his name wrong.
Ridiculous.

Perhaps spelling isn't one of your strong points. RECEIVE. (I before E except after C).
either, neither, caffeine, codeine, counterfeit, foreign, forfeit, height, leisure, protein, their, weird, seize, seizure.

Banning a player is not a punishment and doesn’t work as a preventative… it’s just a holiday. They’ll still get paid.
I've never understood why the FA find it so hard to tackle this issue. It seems like such an obvious and easy to implement fix to solve the problem.
Not to be that guy but you guys spelled receive wrong
Receive* guys
Football players are an embarrassment sometimes with their harassing of refs. Should follow the example of rugby a lot more

The 10 yard thing was a rule in football for a few years
@@bfb187 I don't remember that rule in football but it obviously didn't work or it would still be a rule today which in fairness proves my point

What about the ref that shoved Fernandez
Get a grip

Footballers have zero discipline! Rugby players do.
Only because they are forced to.
What???
Nobody is forced, they learn to be disciplined and so should footballers.
At least until the end of the season!
Disgraceful example to amateurs and young people!
The clear message is: If you play for Man United and do it, its ok
