- A Bangkok hospital official says 20 passengers from Singapore Airlines fatal SQ321 Flight remain in intensive care after the plane hit an air pocket and experienced severe turbulence.
Among the dozens injured and one dead, 41 passengers were still receiving treatment at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital on Thursday, according to Adinun Kittiratanapaibool, the institution’s director. He also revealed 22 patients had sustained spinal injuries and 20 remain in intensive care.
The oldest patient at the hospital is 83-years-old and the youngest, a two-year-old child who suffered a concussion, Kittiratanapaibool later told reporters.
Aside from the injuries sustained by dozens of others, a 73-year-old British man with an alleged heart condition died aboard the flight.
Despite issuing an apology on Wednesday, some passengers have expressed anger at Singapore Airlines’ lack of action, while others consider themselves lucky to still be walking.

I always fasten my seatbelt AT ALL TIMES.
Me too, I have it on whether awake or sleeping.
While I agree seatbelts are important, people sometimes need to get up and use the washroom, too.
Im assuming those injured were not wearing their seat belts. No one said whether this is the case
I regularly take long haul flight (15 hours) and I find most passengers following the advice to have your seat belt on all the time. But there are always some passengers (anywhere from 10 to 20) ignore the advice and even leave their seat and stand around after 7+ hours into the flight. That’s why I am not surprised with the number of injured and how severe the injuries are.
@@ohcanadaeh This really is the issue. The airlines can only do so much to enforce it. Let this be a lesson to those who choose not to.
It's why they say that while seated, even if the sign is off, to please wear it.
Yes that is the case because it's been reported across different international media, including talking to those who were belted in and were not flung from their seats or where they may have been. All cabin crew also sustained injuries including burns as they were in the midst of meal service when it occurred. Apparently, one person interviewed who had just returned to his seat after going to the toilet said, he saw the seat belt sign come on just as he got back to his seat and was about to sit down. Just as he got his belt on, a split second later people, belongings and everything else started getting flung thru the air.
Regardless wearing the seat belts which I think it's very important .. the Captain Pilot should have told all passengers to fasten their seat belts. I know for sure the pilot forced the airplane into the Jet Steam that caused the violent turbulences. Singapore Airline must be responsible for all the passengers life. That's all I'm saying.
@@lindafukuyu5767you seem to know a lot, why are you not on a news channel sharing what you know for sure?
This tragic event proves the importance of always wearing your seat belt on a flight.
be careful showing other patient faces inside the hospital, pls respect other ppl too
Scary 😱 it could happen to any airliners..
Tragedy😔!
They are not telling this. Let me guess, is it the Boeing airplane again? Pure coincidence, right?
When last time not Boeing plane send to ISU 22 passengers after air turbulence?
Nope. It's called clear air turbulence. It comes out of the blue with no warning. Nothing to do with Boeing. I worked on the 777 hundreds of times during my career; very safe, huge aircraft. All these injuries could have been eliminated entirely if people would only keep their seatbelts fastened throughout the entire flight. Don't blame the aircraft or airline, neither of which are responsible
The last time? Well, there was an Air Canada flight, within the last several years, operating on an Airbus, either 319, 320 or 321, where people hit the ceiling during clear air turbulence and went to the hospital. So you see, it's not Boeing nor is it Singapore airlines who are responsible
@@balticbabe1 ,
1. Perhaps you don''t know the difference between "went to hospital" and "delivered to ICU".
2. Perhaps you don't know the difference between "20 remain in ICU, 22 with spinal injuries" and "some unknown and most likely insignificant number of people went to hospital for most likely minor injuries".
I am curious!! The situation like this, can we claim the money from Singapore airline?
Money in which way? Im pretty certain some kind of insurance of the airline, will cover all the costs for the treatment. I doubt that you would be able to claim anything else.
I agree, SIA has for sure insurance for those affected passengers.
no... natural out o control and unforseen
Hotel stays, per diem of your family, medical costs and flight back home will be covered. Say 20k and up per passenger. Ouch.
There will be some kind of payout but more than that, bring lawyers.
The reason airlines putting up safety videos is to cover their rear end
Montreal Convetion included an Air Turbulence compensation , hence, affected passengers claim compensation.
You're right! The Montréal Convention on Air Travel may be used for the affected passengers to lodge a claim for additional compensation from the airline besides the payout from their own travel insurance policies, personal accident policies and life insurance policies.
The presence of SIA Top Management hardly can be seen in the news. Good times all their faces at the front of the TV. Bad times can’t be seen.
I saw them multiple times on different media outlets
It will be such a shame, if the airline will not cover all the medical expense for the passengers. Period !
Why? They don't control the weather.
It is also a tragedy for Singapore airline.
Keith Davis, Australian, has just given an interview and said that the airline will cover all the expenses. With a big sigh of relief from the reporter.
I am not sure but is there not an extra amount you can put down for circumstances such as this (similar how they ask if you want additional coverage in case of lost or stolen luggage). If not there should be it would be benificial to the airlines as well as the customers. Accidents due to turbulance is not something the airlines can foresee and added expenses like medical, long term care could be needed for some or rehabilitation for those with spinal or cranial injuries, missed flights, possibly having to fly some family members to join you if hospitalization is legnthly, flying for work and missed work, hotel stays if a loved one leaves the hospital before you etc... If an airline is willing to cover additional flights, hotels, hospitalization, medical expenses, hotel stays after leaving hospital until your next available flight, damage to the aircraft etc.... that can be quite expensive for the airline too. We all know that even stepping our feet outside sometimes can be risky but we always look to see who is at fault in car accidents and who should pay.
The airline isn't responsible for the negligence of people who chose to unfasten their seatbelts

When "Singapore" is mentioned, people think of 3 things:
- No chewing gum,
- capital punishment for petty crimes, and
- a Chinese TikTok CEO repeating "I am Singaporean" like a school kid.

@@ToiChutGongWu you dont have any argument other than "muh sinophobic"
The aftershock is how the passengers are treated with so much disrespect like forbidding free press to talk to them. But these foreigners may at least get some compensation. The Singaporean injured and casualties will definitely get nothing as PAP and their institutions will bully them into silence.
????
I would like, for once, to see the crew being interviewed. You only ever hear the passengers' side of the story, which isn't necessarily always accurate or true
i am sure the plane was on autopilot and the pilot wasn't paying attentipn since he didn't even warn his passangers for turbulence
How do you warn the passengers of unexpected turbulence?
@@bp900 before flying usually pilot received whether briefing and also while flying warnings over the radio from others pilots who's flying into the area ahead of them.....they would hear about it 10-20min in advanced
@@yvonnebb961💯 it’s RARELY THE CASE of SUDDEN TURBULENCE.
The pilots have the technology to be warned in advance, of any unstable weather etc.
It's called clear air turbulence and neither the pilots nor ATC can predict it. It's sudden and unexpected and comes out of the blue. In wouldn't appear in their flight plan, in this case, some 10 hours prior. If you want to blame anyone for the injuries sustained, blame the passengers themselves for sitting with seatbelts undone
They probably weren’t paying attention, maybe busy on the net, or sleeping.
They need to be investigated!
Singapore 🇸🇬 used to be an okay country. But it's now as horrible as China 🇨🇳.
Why?
@@TS-rd7oy he hates anything China, probably even hates Chinese food, which is so good!
Why?? And how come?? As far as I know they have organised all the help they can provide to those affected passengers.
Because an airplane hit turbulance and people weren't wearing seatbelts?
The media is fear mongering hard and it's clearly working. Common sense is gone. Disheartening.
