Budgets for clubs vary depending on the individual. I have Cobra F7 driver (2017 ) , 30 yr old 3 wood , Cobra one length hybrid , Rife irons , Macgregor wedges and putter , all together cost me less than £500 and these have got me from 26 hcp to 8.5 hcp . There is no way I could justify the money it costs for new kit but it's not harmed my enjoyment of the game or impeded my progress in the least.

I went through a fitting and bought a combo set of the T and S blueprints. I have not received the 5 and 6 iron S's yet but the PW thru 7 iron T's are amazing. Played two rounds so far. I have played Srixon irons since 2016. Love Srixon, but when i saw the Blueprints I had to have a set. They remind me of my 1st set I played S59's. I am hitting my irons so good right now and i am sure it is due to a proper fitting. Perhaps the wrong shaft in the Pings is the reason for your struggle during this video?? your a much better ball striker than what i saw here.

The blueprint T irons look really good. Currently, I'm playing the Ping i525s. They are pricey. But I love them. Bought them last year, wish I would have blended them with the i230s.

I've been thinking a lot about getting the 101T Takomo next time I get new irons. I love my p790, but I need a stiff shaft and instead of buying p770, I figured I'd save a little money. The only drawback is not being able to try em out.

Takomo sell individual woods, utility irons and wedges it’s a pity they don’t do individual irons to try before buying a full set or offer a smaller set of irons 6-PW or 7-PW as not everyone wants 4,5 or 6 irons in a set. It would definitely help sales.

Looking at either T200 or M Pro 245 , but I live in a golf dessert, so having a hard time without driving 75 miles to try them out or to get a fitting, was leaning 245 because I have always liked Mizuno but the T200 is a really nice club and I’m currently playing Ap2 18 so I am not sure which way to go, any suggestions would be appreciated

I've tried a few things over this past year. Takomo 201, PXG Gen3 P, Mizuno Pro 223. If I wanted a forged product with no tech help then the Takomo would be just fine. I've found that I need a little help from the 5, 6, and 7. Takomo doesn't do that so it's not the best for me. Also the Takom PW and 9 iron are pretty chunky looking.

I love the Ping I230, I525, and Blueprints. But, I find paying for all these tour players increases the price. My level play, and frequency of play allow for a Takomo budget. Quality irons are more important to me.

The customer service from Ping is second to none and the European HQ is only half an hour drive for me. These irons however are for better players than me. The Blueprint for single figures handicap. I play G400’s and still love them. I’ve hit my mates i525’s and like them, but like the forgiveness of G irons. If I was buying a new set today I’d likely go for the G430’s.

Interesting discussion point Chris. When I started buying my own clubs in the 1980s, I invested in my chosen sport and forged irons back then cost about 2 months wages for an average salary. Today the cost is still relatively similar but there is one big difference. All forged irons were made from 1020 steel (S20C in Japan), and today Ping et al use the cheaper 8620 steel. This cheaper steel is harder due to manufacturers making their irons more durable. If you have gotten used to this 8620 steel then irons are cheaper these days at about 1 months wages. If you want 1020 softer steel then it's still about 2 months wages on average. There is also a cheeky marketing white lie being told these days regarding forging. It seems that you can cast iron heads these days and include some forging into the manufacturing process and call them forged irons. This is a bit cheeky really speaking as an Engineer.

I wouldn’t spend more than £500 for a set of irons, new irons and woods are far too expensive apart from some of the DTC brands.

I spend a lot of money on clubs. It's not because I think I can buy lower scores but because I like the tinkering aspect of equipment. That being said, I have played many sets of Miura irons and now I have a set of Takomo 201CB irons. Miura sets north of $2000 don't perform any better than the $400 (just the heads) I paid for the Takomo clubs.

I was going to go with a custom set of Ping i230s, and it was going to be $1700 for 8 irons in my specs, so I went with the FULL bag ( 14 clubs) of PXG clubs with BAG included on their $1999, and am NOT SORRY as I love my PXG's !!!!
A person would be crazy NOT to spend the extra $200 for a full-fitted bag of clubs from PXG!!! All I know is many other companies need to do this as PING just lost my money and I have played PING since the Ping Eye 2 + irons, had the Zings, ISI Nickel, I20's, and now lost to PXG.
These PXG clubs were also my Retirement Present for working as a PPG-Certified Automotive Refinish Technician for 46 years !!!
These PXGs will be the last clubs I will own!

@@ktomjr1 YEP, PXG had a Deal on a 14 Club full fitting for $1999.00 in February 2023 with bag included, but I didn't get a bag as the irons shafts I went with were upgraded shafts and they were the equivalent price of the cost of the bag so they took the price of the bag to cover the shafts . That was the 0211 XCORE2 club line up , not the GEN 5 version of the clubs.
      I have the 10.5 0211 driver , 0211 3wood,, 19 & 22 0211 hybrids, and 5-LW 0211 XCORE2 irons with KBS TGI 70 graphite shafts in irons.

Compared to Calloway, Titleist, and Taylor Made, Pings are generally a bit cheaper than the other major brands in both irons and driver/woods. However, the new 10k driver they released seems to be a departure from that type of marketing.
