  • About a two and a half hour drive east of Vancouver, British Columbia lies Manning Park, one of three provincial parks that plays host to the Fat Dog 120 mile trail race.
    Our plan was to fastpack the last 145k or so of the course over two days. It happened to be race weekend, but with the event cancelled we figured what better time for un unsupported adventure.

    Your thoughts about water are interesting. I'm Australian so the general rule of thumb here is carry all your water - don't expect to find water on the trail. On the 5 day hike I did last year, we saw barely any watercourses (in fact the first one was day 2, not far out from camp where there was a water tank). I get very envious of you folk running/hiking in places with plenty of water!

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  3 года назад

      Yea, it’s definitely easier here in our rain forests but it can also give people a false sense of security. Many creeks on a map can dry up late in the season. But I’ve also done some races in the desert which I don’t think I’d be able to do unsupported, without carrying litres and litres of water as you say.

    Great video once again man, what a beautiful fastpack adventure! I was meaning to ask you Jeff/you guys in the comments. I recently purchased the fenix 7 pro 47mm and was wondering if you guys think that it would last an ultra-marathon in the future? I have a 17cm wrist size and it fits decently but debating on returning it to get the 51mm version. If you guys think that this watch is fine and can last I'll prolly stick with it so I dont have a 51mm brick on my wrist all the time.

    Seeing you guys walk through all that overgrowth makes me cringe. If that was Tennessee you’d be covered in poison ivy...

      Yikes! Fortunately, I think the park we were in is too high in elevation for Poison Ivy or Poison Oak to grow. We do have some in the interior here in BC though around the Okanagan area.
