    UPDATE: Apologies for wrong info about critical hits. Here is the correct info.
    Critical Hits depend on Rolls and the attack that you are doing. Checking the weapon information will tell you what Roll you need to initiate a Critical Hit. If it says 19-20 (x2) then you need to roll 19 or 20 to initiate a Critical Hit Roll. This means that by rolling 19 or 20 and upon a successful hit you initiate another roll called Critical Roll. If the Critical Roll is higher than enemy AC then the attack does Critical Damage. If the Critical Roll is lower than enemy AC then the attack does standard damage. Rolling 20 is automatic hit, regardless of enemy AC. Critical Damage is displayed in brackets. If it says x2 then it means Critical Damage is double the normal damage.
    Any Spell that does an attack roll can crit upon scoring 20 on a dice roll. Spell Crit Damage is doubled unless there is some Feat that can increase it further.

    Just finished the game, some tips: visit all map locations, for this, boost perception as much as you can, boost persuasion because a lot of exp comes out of it. For your main Character don't play anything crazy, play a barbarian or something like that. Make sure you have a cleric, everything that gives or offers passive or active freedom of movement get it. For the advisors use the right people, for example the warden should be someone with high constitution (look for the right Stat for each role) . On Kingdom mgmt try to rank up stats as a priority , then problems, then curses, then projects, then opportunities. For rank ups, after 40 level ups you will get a project to reduce the time to 7 days instead of 14. Don't stress over time, it's manageable. FINISH all companion quests and always pair Jaethal and Tristan on their companion quests. Hire mercenaries if you mess up level ups for your characters.

    This game need much better documentation. New players are going to have a really hard time getting into it.
    Old cRPG's like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights had great manuals that explained all the rules and listed all the class abilities, feats, and spells.
    This game is missing so much basic things like a spell progression table, spell list, class abilities list, feats list, etc. It makes it so hard to actually plan out a build. The first character I made was an evocation wizard, but since there's no spell list, I didn't find out until very late that there are no level 9 evocation spells. Without such a basic feature, even if you're a D&D/Pathfinder veteran, you'll have trouble since it's such a hassle to find out what abilities/feats/spells are actually in the game.

    There is one downside to multiclassing other than missing out on higher levels in your primary class. A character gets +1 hit points per level in his primary class, so if you go 18 fighter - 2 rogue, make sure you take fighter at first level or your 20th level toon will be 18 hit points lower.

    I've gotten so addicted to this game. I come from many years of playing a hardcore D&D game and haven't encountered the issues I see reported. I run a balanced party, with mixed damage types and characters that compliment each other. The bear-like treant encounter I curb stomped without issue. The swarms were just a long, slow fight without me being in any danger of failing. I've only had one fight I've had to save for a later time. The enemy AC was higher than any of my characters could manage outside of a crit.
    I love this game for sticking to the pen and paper style I'm used to playing in. A crit was something to always be feared in the tabletop games I played and it wasn't unheard of to be one-shot at any level, shit happens. This game doesn't hold your hand and give you a cake walk. It makes you think, plan, balance, and tailor to the encounters. The perfect way to have encounters

    • @kalenics123
      @kalenics123 5 лет назад

      I think crits a little bit over the top. I mean +50% damage on crit is OK but x2 or 3x damage is a little bit too much. I know there is the option to reduce it but it only affects the enemies. I would like version where my party and the enemies do reduced crits.

    • @quasxen
      @quasxen 5 лет назад +4

      If the game follows the standard Pathfinder rules (which I believe it does) a x2 for a critical hit doesn't mean double damage. If you get a crit with a weapon that is listed as 20 (x2) and it normally does 1d6 damage, then when you get a crit you roll your damage dice twice then add your bonuses twice. In this case it'd be 2d6 + damage bonuses. So there's only potential for double weapon damage, not total damage. And the x3 would mean 3d6 + bonuses. That's the damage from the tabletop rules.
      The video says with a natural 20 you gain an extra attack when the weapon is listed as x2. Not sure if that's this game's rules or a missinterpretation of the tabletop rules. Tabletop says if you roll a 20, you then make an additional roll to confirm the crit. If the second roll misses, it's a normal hit. If the second roll hits, then you got a crit.

    Quick note on the saves: You say that bonuses to saves won't stack outside class abilities, but that isn't quite right.
    Any bonuses of the same type won't stack, but type isn't determined by effect. Many early bonuses to saves are Resistance bonuses, so the Resistance cantrip and a Cloak of Resistance won't stack, but spells that offer Morale or Luck bonuses to saves will absolutely stack with Resistance bonuses. Shake it Off will stack with all of the above, as it's an untyped bonus, and has a great affect on reducing the RNG feeling when debuff and shutdown spells start flying your way. Iron Will and Great Fortitude are also good spells for ensuring that those two saves (the most important two!) are strong on your characters.

    What determines buff stacking depends on the type of buff. For instance a deflection bonus to AC will not stack with other deflection bonuses, but if you get a different type of AC buff it should stack. Barkskin I believe is a natural AC bonus so it should stack with mage armor

    Also look at the level 20 abilities for your class and decide if that are must haves for physical attackers. One level in alchemist vivisectionist gives you mutagen which can buff a physical stat by 4 at the cost of -2 in a mental stat. It also gives you one level of sneak attack which adds 1d6 to your damage and you can take accomplished sneak attack feat for another 1d6. You only need to flank something to get sneak attack bonuses so two characters attacking the same thing makes that available. In total a +4 str gives a melee character +2 in attack and damage, with sneak attack and the feat you will get an additional 2d6 to your damage. If you have at least 2 party members with precise strikes feat they will each get another 1d6. Also the 1 level in alchemist lets you cast true strike spark if you have I think at least 12 intellect. That spell gives you a +20 to hit. If your strength is 20 and your level 2 the grand total is +8 to hit or with true strike +28, damage is your weapon dice +3d6+7. Amiri will one shot stuff ALOT. Also that 2d6 sneak attack damage and the extra 1d6 from precise strikes will still be very effective even later in the game.

You get 3 respecs for free but afterwards it gets expensive. However you can respec as early as level 1 or 2 though I would save it. You can also hire mercenaries which are another party member with a blank slate that allows you to make whatever you want. If you respect your main character or a mercenary you can change everything including portrait name race stats class. It’s like making a new character from scratch but you won’t lose any levels.

Somtimes I feel like it in the beginning. In that game at least I try to apply some fear effects sometimes, but I'm not quite sure when it actually works or if it worked yet.

    One setup early on to achieve would be to run a full team as fast as you can. Since you know the early starting stages are just going to be absolute trash loot and garbage level enemies (except the flying skull jerk) then you don't have to worry about gear, just nabbing levels. You can squander all kinds of days on the main quest once you have unlocked the Stag Lord's Fort location... So run that clock down to about 15 days within reach of his place hitting as many valid locations as you can and running loot sales back to Oleg.
    As far as characters are concerned, this is my setup I generally go for:
    1.Main character with a rank or 3 in rogue but primaried in fighter or barbarian armored tank so I can be heavily armored, find traps and find loot stashes easier.
    2. Amiri running fighter and kineticist.
    3. Valerie or anyone else in her place using Charisma fear skills.
    4. Custom character running a similar build to main character but without the rogue class, add cleric as a vanguard cleric.
    5. Ranged rearguard cleric summoner mixed with ranger.
    6. Ranged rearguard offensive damage output magic user of mixed classes, ranger added in.

      Have you tried the turn based mod for Kingmaker? Very well built, and unlike the Pillars option you can toggle it freely during combat so you're not fighting trash mobs at a snail's pace. I enjoy both forms of play but I pause constantly in realtime, so really, the structure of a turn based system is just more convenient.

      There is an NPC vendor named Anoriel Eight-Eyes who can respec your main character and/or other party members, for a fee which increases as you level up, also the NPC party members cannot be completely respecced from level 1. They each come with some number of set-in-stone early levels that cannot be changed.
      Anoriel also recruits mercenaries for you, which is how you can make additional custom party members, but those are pretty expensive as you level up.
      The cheapest custom mercenaries would be those you get as a level 1 main character, which Anoriel says she charges 500GP for, each. In reality, you only get charged 100GP when you make a merc as a level 1 main character, so you COULD make like 20 of them if you wanted to, but there's really no need to make any at all. You're allowed a maximum party of six characters in total, and there are about a dozen different potential party members you can recruit from among the prefab NPCs you meet in the story, and they're basically free. Also you need to recruit all of them anyway, to act as kingdom advisors once you get your barony set up in Act 2.

    Thank you! I read how 1 rogue level gives the sneak ability and is quite powerful, so I went to far and gave my whole party a rogue level at level 2, I am grateful that I didn't waste more time only to find out I wouldn't be able to level their main class further. Also, I really gimped my party by splitting at level 2 I think. My first player had all 4 party members at level 2 for Oleg's and won the bandit fight and ancient tomb rather easily. My 2nd try with split level took about 20 attempts to win the bandit fight and is getting wiped by Tartuccio's mercs without killing 1 of them. Also, I persuaded Bokken to assist against the bandit raid at Oleg's and regretted that decision. You probably won't have fire resistance for Valerie yet and Bokken just throws alchemists fire and sometimes kills your own party. There wasn't an achievement for it as far as I could tell and keeping Bokken alive is also terribly difficult. I am playing on challenging level just because I didn't want an advantage and it is perfectly tuned for someone who wants to fight correctly to win. I have to reload saves constantly and fine tune tactics for everything outside random encounters. Definitely play an easier mode if you'd like to enjoy the game without a lot of reloads.

    You say in game spell attacks use dex (minus touch), but on ur wiki page it says intelligence determines spellcasting ability

    • @thant0s
      @thant0s 5 лет назад

      Ranged touch and projectile spells, such as the various Rays, count as "Ranged Attacks" and therefore scale your ability to strike an enemy with them based on Dexterity, just like firing a Crossbow. That's just for these types of attacks, though; when it comes to the enemy saves to *resist the effects* of spells, that is determined by the caster's governing stat for the spell, i.e. Charisma for (most) Sorcerers, Wisdom for (most) faith-based spellcasters, and Intelligence for (most) scholarly spellcasters such as Wizards.
      In the end, though, if you intend to directly attack enemies through magic, having some investment in Dexterity is necessary to keep your Ranged Attack modifier high enough to actually connect with them.

    • @Lorddacenshadowind
      @Lorddacenshadowind 5 лет назад

      intelligence determines dc(difficulty class) of spells, this is for resisting mind spells, avoiding aoe spells, and resisting body spells

    • @Sharran2000
      @Sharran2000 5 лет назад

      The primary spellcasting ability depends on the class, actually
      Alchemists, Magus (Except the Eldritch Scion archetype, which uses Charisma), the Sage Sorcerer archetype, and Wizard uses Intelligence
      Clerics, Druids, Rangers, and Inquisitors use Wisdom (I think the Empyreal Sorcerer archetype also does, but I haven't actually tested this)
      Sorcerers, Bards and Paladins uses Charisma
      Not sure what the spellcasting rogue archetype uses, but I assume it is Intelligence (Could be totally wrong though)
      Not sure if Kingmaker has the standard Pathfinder rule regarding minimum ability score/stat requirement for spellcasting, but if it does, you'll need 10+Spell Level to cast spells (So, for example, you would need at least 17 Wisdom to get access to 7th level cleric spells) - In either case, it is seldom a bad idea to have a high primary spellcasting stat, so better safe than sorry (Of course, this can easily be tested by making for example a wizard with 8 intelligence - Check if you actually have 1st level spell slots)

    • @procrastinatinggamer
      @procrastinatinggamer 5 лет назад

      The others seem to have covered it, but a class’ spellcasting stat (Int for Wizards and Magi, Cha for Bards and Sorcerers, or Wis for Clerics and Druids) only determines how many spells they have and how hard they are for the target to resist if the spell calls for a saving throw. Spells that don’t have a saving throw associated with it typically require an attack roll, which is calculated the same way as an attack with a weapon, you’re just rolling against the target’s lower Touch AC rather than their full AC.

This tide never lets up, so you're never able to relax and immerse yourself in the experience. Instead you're just rushing to complete the events before their timers run down. A simple and obvious design error that completely ruins the experience.
