Hello mate… it seemed ok on this trip, the poles are carbon so time will tell! Claire’s hubba poles got wrecked this same night lol only around 5 miles away… and yea mate, need to arrange a catch up soon x
Couldn't agree more about the lack of seam sealing. It's madness that these company's invest millions to find the latest lightweight material with a great hydrostatic head rating, only to then let water in through the seams, crazy. Good to see you out and about again, some great scenic views, nice drone shots as well. Take care.
I know mate, it’s beyond me why they do it? I think maybe if it does leak they’re covered and can just say I haven’t sealed it properly 🙄 never mind, despite that, I love the tent! Thanks for tuning in, have a great evening Ash
Great to see you out again! What a great spot. I’m reminded of dry stacked stone walls and abandoned granite quarries in Vermont when we visit family. Like you said…history. I’m gobsmacked that MSR isn’t sealing their seems. Disappointing. Anyway good luck with the move. That’s always fun 😬 Great filmography by the way! Thanks as always sir!
Hey matt! Thanks buddy, was so lucky with the conditions on this one! Yeah, I’m not sure if it’s a cop out for them, incase it leaks they’re covered as they could just say that I haven’t sealed it properly… really annoying Never the less I did love the tent so fingers crossed I’ve done it properly Thanks as always Ash
You got some great footage! Before we started our channel and got a van, we used to summit camp and we stayed on the top of Moel Siabod, definitely one to revisit now we've just bought a new tent and, nice to see the Exos rucksack as that's what I've invested in :-)
Ohhh nice! I would have loved to do a summit camp, was waaaay to windy up there though, maybe if I had the hilleberg lol Thanks so much for watching Ash
Stunning, just such a stunning place, love Wales, really like these camps that are 'out the way' , not the usual places. That night sky is what you live for, the sunrise was jaw dropping, just perfect. The hot chocolate drink with chocolate dipped in, would keep me awake for several days! I'm really looking forward to your Cambrian way, the sights you're gonna see😀🏞🤩. Top video mate🤘

We are gonna head out in the van tomorrow to Monday as other Del is going to try and catch some surf over at East Runton in Norfolk - wish her luck it’s her first time in a few years! Are you heading out over the weekend?
@@dels_outside ahh good luck del 2… what are your names btw!? I thought you were del? 😬 nope, I have my kids this weekend so no camping, I’ll be out and about next weekend, not sure where yet? Maybe stay local(ish) 😊
@@AshOutdoorsUK haha this will blow your mind but we are both called Adele! But I refer to del I guess we kinda respond to whatever really! Aw amazing, are they into the outdoors?
@@dels_outside lol! No way 😆 well makes it easier for people to remember your names 👌🏼 Not really unfortunately… I’ve tried but don’t want to force it on them! Hopefully they’ll find their way when they get a little older… only 10 abs 8 atm 😊
Hey! Welcome to the channel 😁 lol, yes it is and I knew it was, just went into “rubbish Englishman trying to speak Welsh” mode 😆 I’ll get there one day Thanks for watching this one Ash
Hello Jay… they are scarpas, can’t remember the model. Great for short hikes but anything over 10 miles my feet hurt in them! I need a wider foot box really than these provide. Waterproofing is great though Ash
Those views 😍Love Moel Siabod 💚Amazing camp, I can't believe how much less wind you had there! Only a few miles from me having my tent flattened 😄Freelite looks good too, looks huge! :D Tonnes bigger than the NX. Agree about it not being seam sealed.. totally nuts considering what you pay for these tents 🥴 Looking forward to hanging out with Duxford at the new place 🦌He hawt (for a skull). Xx
Hey!! I know right! You totally drew the short straw this time! And all the other times 😂 so far I’m loving the tent, hopefully it’s a bit more robust than the nx… 😬 Duxford is looking forward to the company… it’s a hard life being a corpse with a chopped off skull! Thanks for watching, stay safe 😆 xx
Great spot I agree with you it's not on paying a lot of money and it's not seam sealed there a few top end manufacturers doing this it's like when they don't give you enough to peg it out properly what's that all about.is the freelite the 1 with carbon poles?.have you any concerns about the poles.
Hey Craig! Thanks so much mate, yes, the poles are carbon, time will tell I suppose but so far I’m super impressed! Feels a really nice tent! Glad you enjoyed mate and thanks for watching and commenting Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK it's just that I've got my eye on a new tent but it's carbon poles and I'm unsure about them maybe a bit more research befor I pull the trigger on it
As always. Pleasure to watch Ash. Stunning scenery and like the look of the new tent (despite the lazy *u*t* not seam sealing 😂) Look forward to the next one as and when. ATB Pete
Oh I do have a bit of tent envy going on 😊. Are there any ceiling pockets, I didn't see any? I really value those on my Elixir. Stunning location, nice one Ash. (I'm halfway through, will watch the rest later) ps. that beard!!!!!
Hey buddy! I can’t remember seeing any to be honest mate, this was its 1st outing! Next time out I’ll have a check! The beard may have to go soon! Food seems to be getting stuck in it quite regularly now! 😅 have a good week mate, and thanks for watching Ash
Hi Ash, great video, Wales is a beautiful part of the nation. However, just to correct you on the seam sealing comment: I've recently bought an MSR Freelite 1, and it too came with a bottle of seam sealer, but if you read the label on the bottle it states that the seams are sealed and the extra sealer is for any future repairs. So you can relax, it'll stay dry for years to come!
Hello mate, thanks for watching the video! And thanks for the advice, do you have the 2022 version? I got this early last year and while researching I found that if It was going to be used in extreme weather conditions it needs sealing, and we all know what wales is like lol Well at least I know I should be safe! And thanks again for watching Mike! All the best Ash
Hi Ash. No, I looked at the 2022 version but I wasn't fond of the new lighter shade of green fly, or the sculptured cut on the end which exposes more of the red inner, so I bought the older version, with darker fly. It looks from your video to be a similar vintage to yours except mine is one man. I bought mine at the end of February and the weather was dry, however, in recent weeks we've had wind, rain, sleet and snow and so far the Freelite 1 has stood up to all of it. I think MSR tents are excellent!
Did this many a time while at university in Bangor. Dinorwig is the best for camping as there are lots of old mine workings and caves to sleep in. However, pick your spot wisely. Nothing quite as scary as being woken up in the middle of the night by angry sheep staring at you because you are sleeping in their shelter. 😂
Ohhh I’ve not heard of that place… will definitely have to go check it out! So many cool places to check out in the area! And I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for those sheep 😅 Thank you for watching Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK its a great place for climbing. There are some fixed routes and good bouldering there. A lot is now fenced off, including the blue lake but its easy to get around if you climb higher. It can be quite a dangerous place as there are lots of slag heaps and uneven ground, which is why it was fenced off. 👍 There are some good spots higher up in Snowdonia. Some lovely secluded lakes where wild swimming is popular.
Cracking adventure in a beautifully inspiring place . Lovely . Yeah why do they sell tents for hundreds and say " you can finish it off now " ( some psychological thing to make you attached to it maybe , 🤔 I dunno ) . Anyway cracking vid . Take care Ash 🏕⛰🏞
Beautiful spot and very sheltered by the sounds of it. I assume the 'grapevine' was Claire telling you that her tent was getting utterly destroyed... Didn't fancy a dip in the morning then? 🥶
Hey Rach! Yeah, she told me how bad it was where she was at the time, I was only 5 miles away but was fine. I had the odd gust here and there… maybe I was just more sheltered in the valley? Nope, however I did swim up there a few weeks back, not sure if you follow me on insta but put a little vid up there. Have a great weekend and thanks for watching Ash
well f said.. outright not fit for purpose if leaks pitches inner ist or needs a fluppin extra groundsheet or summet under it half the tents i been looking at are an outright waste a recources these companies need a slap wi the monty python kipper :) as do national express coaches for leaving 100s of pik up points dead for 3 years leaving 10,000s wi no access to cheap long distance travel.. can i borrow a lama n a saddle?
Lol mate! I know how you feel! I’m not too fussed about and extra ground sheet, but seam sealing!?? Come on! It’s a tent, it should be water proof 😆 Thanks for watching buddy Ash

I know mate, it’s beyond me why they do it? I think maybe if it does leak they’re covered and can just say I haven’t sealed it properly 🙄 never mind, despite that, I love the tent!
Thanks for tuning in, have a great evening
Ash
Great to see you out again! What a great spot. I’m reminded of dry stacked stone walls and abandoned granite quarries in Vermont when we visit family. Like you said…history.
I’m gobsmacked that MSR isn’t sealing their seems. Disappointing.
Anyway good luck with the move. That’s always fun 😬
Great filmography by the way! Thanks as always sir!
Hey matt! Thanks buddy, was so lucky with the conditions on this one!
Yeah, I’m not sure if it’s a cop out for them, incase it leaks they’re covered as they could just say that I haven’t sealed it properly… really annoying
Never the less I did love the tent so fingers crossed I’ve done it properly
Thanks as always
Ash
You got some great footage! Before we started our channel and got a van, we used to summit camp and we stayed on the top of Moel Siabod, definitely one to revisit now we've just bought a new tent and, nice to see the Exos rucksack as that's what I've invested in :-)
Ohhh nice! I would have loved to do a summit camp, was waaaay to windy up there though, maybe if I had the hilleberg lol
Thanks so much for watching
Ash
Stunning, just such a stunning place, love Wales, really like these camps that are 'out the way' , not the usual places. That night sky is what you live for, the sunrise was jaw dropping, just perfect. The hot chocolate drink with chocolate dipped in, would keep me awake for several days! I'm really looking forward to your Cambrian way, the sights you're gonna see😀🏞🤩. Top video mate🤘
Hi ya Paul mate! I was so lucky with this one, had everything, sun, stars, views and nature time. Was a nice little reset and well need. I can’t wait for the Cambrian way either, hopefully I can get a few more camps in before I go!
Have a wicked evening buddy, and thanks as always for watching
Ash
Wicked camp Ash!! 🔥
Thanks del! Loved this camp… hope you guys are feeling better now! You out this weekend?
No way 😆 well makes it easier for people to remember your names 👌🏼
Not really unfortunately… I’ve tried but don’t want to force it on them! Hopefully they’ll find their way when they get a little older… only 10 abs 8 atm 😊
Love this, got a new subscriber, love the way you pronounce moel siabod 😂, it's pronounced moil shabod I think I'm Welsh and I don't even know 😂
Hey! Welcome to the channel 😁 lol, yes it is and I knew it was, just went into “rubbish Englishman trying to speak Welsh” mode 😆 I’ll get there one day
Thanks for watching this one
Ash
Great stuff dude! 👍🏼
Thanks Ben, glad you enjoyed it mate 👌🏼🏕
Lovely tent, not seam sealed ? That’s f@&!ed up ! Great camp mate
Hello hardy! Yeah it was pretty annoying but I like the tent, let’s hope I’ve sealed it properly 😅
Ash
Love the video mate, can I ask what boots you have on ?
Hello Jay… they are scarpas, can’t remember the model.
Great for short hikes but anything over 10 miles my feet hurt in them! I need a wider foot box really than these provide. Waterproofing is great though
Ash
Those views 😍Love Moel Siabod 💚Amazing camp, I can't believe how much less wind you had there! Only a few miles from me having my tent flattened 😄Freelite looks good too, looks huge! :D Tonnes bigger than the NX. Agree about it not being seam sealed.. totally nuts considering what you pay for these tents 🥴
Looking forward to hanging out with Duxford at the new place 🦌He hawt (for a skull). Xx
@@AshOutdoorsUK sounds like an easy life to me 😄😄
And also... 🤮🤮🤮 Xxx
Glad you enjoyed mate and thanks for watching and commenting
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK it's just that I've got my eye on a new tent but it's carbon poles and I'm unsure about them maybe a bit more research befor I pull the trigger on it
@@craig3401 I’ll keep the channel updated on it mate, if it fails I’ll let you know 👍🏼
@@AshOutdoorsUK thanks yea sometimes it's good to know what fails aswell as things that work at👍
As always. Pleasure to watch Ash. Stunning scenery and like the look of the new tent (despite the lazy *u*t* not seam sealing 😂) Look forward to the next one as and when. ATB Pete
Hey Pete! Thanks mate, and yes, stunning scenery, can’t beat it on a clear day!
Hope you’re well mate
Ash
Oh I do have a bit of tent envy going on 😊. Are there any ceiling pockets, I didn't see any? I really value those on my Elixir.
Stunning location, nice one Ash.
(I'm halfway through, will watch the rest later)
ps. that beard!!!!!
Hey buddy! I can’t remember seeing any to be honest mate, this was its 1st outing! Next time out I’ll have a check! The beard may have to go soon! Food seems to be getting stuck in it quite regularly now! 😅 have a good week mate, and thanks for watching
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK Thanks mate! I did a bit of googling, it seems there is one triangular shaped ceiling pocket toward the front 👍
I got this early last year and while researching I found that if It was going to be used in extreme weather conditions it needs sealing, and we all know what wales is like lol
Well at least I know I should be safe! And thanks again for watching Mike!
All the best
Ash
@@mikefletcher5644 ahh that’s good to hear Mike! I’m with you there, love the msr range! Thanks again for the comments mate
Ash
Great job, I liked it. I also recently started making videos about hiking and bushcraft and it's pretty good. Greetings from Belarus!
Ahh hello from the U.K. 🇬🇧 so glad you liked the video. Was an epic little trip!
Thanks for watching
Ash
Did this many a time while at university in Bangor. Dinorwig is the best for camping as there are lots of old mine workings and caves to sleep in. However, pick your spot wisely. Nothing quite as scary as being woken up in the middle of the night by angry sheep staring at you because you are sleeping in their shelter. 😂
Ohhh I’ve not heard of that place… will definitely have to go check it out! So many cool places to check out in the area!
And I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for those sheep 😅
Thank you for watching
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK its a great place for climbing. There are some fixed routes and good bouldering there. A lot is now fenced off, including the blue lake but its easy to get around if you climb higher. It can be quite a dangerous place as there are lots of slag heaps and uneven ground, which is why it was fenced off. 👍
There are some good spots higher up in Snowdonia. Some lovely secluded lakes where wild swimming is popular.
@@bargepoled cool! Thanks, I’m definitely going to look into it! 👌🏼
..cool video keep up the great content.. Thank you…
Thank you Jörg, glad you enjoyed the video. And thank you for watching

READ MY NAME!!!-
@@AshOutdoorsUK Thank you very mutch... have a nice day.... see you….
I know, so annoying! I do like the tent tho, so much space compared to the hubba.
Thanks as always buddy, hope you’re having a good week
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK . Yes mate . Good as can be expected , weekend soon . Take care bud 👌
Have a great weekend and thanks for watching
Ash
@@AshOutdoorsUK I did see that, didn't put two and two together on the location though.
Have a great weekend!
@@rachpwanders6095 thank you! And you too 😊
well f said.. outright not fit for purpose if leaks pitches inner ist or needs a fluppin extra groundsheet or summet under it half the tents i been looking at are an outright waste a recources these companies need a slap wi the monty python kipper :) as do national express coaches for leaving 100s of pik up points dead for 3 years leaving 10,000s wi no access to cheap long distance travel.. can i borrow a lama n a saddle?
Lol mate! I know how you feel!
I’m not too fussed about and extra ground sheet, but seam sealing!?? Come on! It’s a tent, it should be water proof 😆
Thanks for watching buddy
Ash
very nice...my only gripe is that you could have put a little more whiskey in that hot chocolate
😆 I wanted another few swigs for later so held back on the chocolate 😆 thanks for watching buddy
Ash
Please teach wildbere or she'll end up in trouble and M.R.T will have too save her Arse if she's lucky, she won't kill anyone but herself 👍
Hi, teach me what exactly?
She’s more cautious and responsible than me, not sure what you want me to teach her?
My god man that beard, you look like like you are getting ready to build an arc.
I’m thinking I’d rather part the ocean 🌊 🧔🏻
Great Vid However its pronounsed Shabod .
Hello mate! Lol, yes and I knew this going up there! When I listed back I couldn’t believe I’d pronounced it wrong again… think I did correctly once 😆 never mind, you get the drift 😁 thanks for watching buddy

Yet another cracker Ash 👍....And I must say the beard is looking rather dapper. I've just chopped mine as I'm having Covid round 2 !?!?!........Although I am taking my son to Dartmoore for a few days. He is a 10yr old camera enthusiast. I will ping you a link when he's knocked up his first ever wild camp video. He loves your channel as do I 🤘🙏🍻
Hey buddy! Lol, the beard is getting to look like Velcro a bit now! 😆 part of me wants to shave it off but I’m becoming attached to it now 😬 oh dear, hope you recover soon mate and have a great time on Dartmoor with your son! Bet he’ll love it, and glad you both enjoy the vids!
