I was prior service US Army. This is what we used to do because eating MREs gets dull when you have them so often:
    1. Get the Beef Stew MRE
    2. Trade one of the other guys for their Cheese Spread pack (I used to trade the Charms candies for it)
    3. Heat the Beef Stew and Cheese Spread together in the heater (FYI, we always filled that bag almost halfway with water, made heating faster and more consistent)
    4. Open the Beef Stew pack along the long edge, pour in molten hot Cheese Spread, mix and enjoy (you can toss in Tabasco sauce at this point as well)
    5. For dessert, take the Hot Coco mix and add the instant coffee, creamer, warm water, stir well, add some Peanut Butter (if yours came with it) and you have a type of pudding

I had a 6 acre field a few year's back . Had been on 3 months building the bonfire in the middle of the field for Nov5th and it was huge , higher than the roof on a house . Nov 5th my family and friends were there , portaloo gazebbo's bouncy castle generators electric and charcoal grills going - Police car came rallying around the bike track in the field and past the car's that were parked , right upto the " set-up " where we all were as the fire blazed away 100ft away . Police woman who was driving dived out and started demanding who we were , our ID , what were we doing in the field ! .
I just turned my head towards the fire in hope she would realise , but no - more demands . And this went on for a minute as i actually had some hope she would comprehend what was happening as it was Nov 5th .
When she started writing down the car reg numbers i had enough - I said to her " look love it's bonfire night , what do you think we are doing , honestly Nov 5th and fire works and the gazebo's what do you think we are doing in my field " = more demands for ID ? . Enough was enough = " Your trespassing with a motor vehicle and have rallyed round the field where kids are palying in the dark and it's not my law it's your's and iff you don't get that F+++G car off my field in 10 seconds i'm impounding and dissposing of it under the byelaws your putting up everywhere that says " any motor vehicles tresspassing will be seized and crushed . And your's will be seized and burnt cos it's going on the F++++G BONFIRE ON BONFIRE NIGHT - OH ISN'T THAT TONIGHT " . Police man who had been quiet all the time started walking back to the car - He knew .
WPC on the other hand went into melt down with more demands = " 10 9 8 you do know what a count down is 7 6 and the car is going on the fire 5 and had you parked off the field in the laybye and walked over you'd be having a hot dog and coffee now 4 3 instead of endangering the lives of the kids with your recless driving 2 1 and you know iff i say zero it's game over for the car don't you " = She shut up instantly as it dawned and she turned and went back to the car .
Was like a comedy sketch as i followed her and got to their car and looked at the PC and said " night mate " and he just nodded and you could see he was holding back the laughter ......

USA police feel threatened when being social, whereas cops in many other countries would come in firm, but not really threatening... if they can see your hands then they relax a little, but most times if they don't see a weapon they won't pull theirs out unless you done something really stupid
interaction with cops the other day with me is that about 10 cops banged on my door, announced themselves and demanded all occupants came out, we came out, they saw we had nothing in our hands and they relaxed a little, one started to question us while the other started frisking us to do a "CYOA" for weapons or additional charges, they found nothing.
Once they did the frisk they became luke warm and started to be more negotiable and didn't treat us as actively hostile, they understood why I had a heated exchange with my neighbours but found no evidence of a knife, there was no knife.
Once everything was cleared up they asked me if I wanted to charge the other person with "tampering with utilities" but I declined.
They left, nobody died and my liberties are still in tact, no bail is needed. they never treated me like friends but they also never treated me like I was hostile, they came with caution... left with a story.

The Italian MREs come with a miniature folding BCB stove (not the one you fold by hand, but an exact miniature of the regular BCB). Some have the low alcohol content aperitif. European MREs are expensive over here. Your police seemed to be decent enough. With all the "unrest" they have to be careful. Here in the States the U.S. Supreme Court is reviewing camping in public by the homeless. Many of our police treat homelessness as a crime. At least I can say that I didn't tolerate my officers to mistreat the homeless. Cheers... P.S. I went to the POMOLY website and this tent is under $200... $180 +/-. They offer a dozen different types and the $ range is from $180 to $ several hundred.

The rice rice is supposed to be mixed with the taco meat and spread on the tortilla. Bills brew is best if you add the sugar packet, and cut it with a bit of cold water.
You’ve got to try the shredded beef barbecue mre next!

Wow. Around here (Georgia, USA) its unusual to go outdoors and find someone NOT carrying a pistol, or rifle. I've never had an issue with it. I can't imagine what it would be like to have someone call the police on me, those police enter my land without permission, and then demand to see my license for an air rifle and a shotgun.

Thats the difference in the USA to England. In the Uk few own guns. Its either criminals with no registration or land owners. Thats it. And the police just do or say whatever they want and interpret the law as they see fit in a situation. So they stride around on private land etc with no warrants at all. Things seem reasonable...but aren't. In the USA the police expect the land owner or house owner to have guns, its a given. Hence they are far less likely to just barge in or walk in etc as they know they could easily be shot at, if a person feels under threat. It can then get out of control fast. In the UK the police love themselves and love the job and love bossing people about and having their "powers" a lot of them are in the job for that reason. They often allow people totally unsuitable physically to do the job as well..such as that small blonde woman who would not be much use if a physical fight no matter what training given or what equality etc says...

@@Simon-xc5oy To give the police in the UK some credit, I've only ever had good interactions with them when it's firearm or air-rifle related. You occasionally get someone with what they believe to be genuine concern report something. We had someone report us taking shotguns into a Gun Club of all places. The police rocked up, no drama just asked to see the certificate and check the registrations. All good, away they went. You could tell they were not there because they wanted to be, just because they have to respond to a report. To be completely honest, my land or otherwise, I'd much rather they check and it be nothing than the opposite be true.

@@jordynorm8212 Fair enough. But for me I simply dont trust them. At all. For every one you get that is decent and seems friendly, there are three that are so far up themselves and full of their own powers and self importance its a wonder they are not invisible. The older I get and the younger the coppers on duty gets, the worse its seems to become. Standards falling, lack of proper education. Mis education, poor training, letting people in who are unsuitable, on and on. So far you have had good experiences with them. When you have a bad one you will know it and remember what I have said here. With them its ego and a power trip a lot of the time. Not always, but there are way too many out there. I have had to deal with tat side of them two or three times. Incidents regarding break ins, and physical attacks etc...And my elderly parents house being damaged at night...many things....scratch the surface and you will see that their civility is skin deep. They utterly hate any form of critical opinion on their role, job, law etc. They are nice as pie when you agree with them and go along with them even when they know they are wrong and you know it too....To me they often represent everything wrong in the UK today, the problems with society etc and the government. Without them there is anarchy. But they are far from perfect and most seem to think they are......

@@MrAlphafang Heh yes...that is true...dont you have a lot of nasty snakes as well? And Mountain lions / Cougars etc? Wolves, Cayotes, various Bears....and various nutters with guns too....I would not dare go anywhere in America much less in to the woods. Shame as it all looks so lovely. I always like the look of the Rocky Mountains and those Redwood forests as well as some of the tropical places like Miami....at least you get the sunshine.....The worst we have to deal with here is a grass snake that is tiny and non poisonous. And an Adder snake that has a bite like a bee sting and its non fatal just unpleasant. And in all my life wandering the Uk I have never, ever seen either of them in the wild....The adder is supposed to be scared to death of everything and legs it (well slithers) any time it sees or hears anything at all....the only time I ever read of bites, is if someone is walking in deep heather on remote moors and somehow accidentally steps on one, if its not got out of the way in time...I feel a bit sorry for them if I am honest and I cant stand snakes....They seem to like the south mostly and its warmer there, I am in the North East and its like Winterfell in Game of Thrones for about 11 months of the year...

I think that the jogger might possibly have been a relative of one of the local residents, doing some jogging while visiting, and not familiar with the commonality of firearms in the area. Not being fully familiar, they reached out to the local constabulary with their concerns, and the police responded in a polite and professional manner.

Surely if you saw something as a member of the public and you reported it to the police you would want them to check it. Everyone acted calmly and well and it was all resolved quickly. Good job.

How is a guy camping in the woods concerning? This is why so many countries have lost their freedoms, people with your mindset. You don't need to ask the police or government to check in on everything. Live your life, mind your business, if you see something legitimately dangerous or illegal going on, sure, report it. But you sound like the type of person that would call the cops on someone that's a different color than you, just because their jogging in your neighborhood.
Yes, it's good that the police were respectful this time. But that isn't always the case. There's no telling how an interaction like that could go. They could have just as easily arrested him on a bs premise. We've seen simple wellness checks turn into deadly encounters. We've seen people charged with bs charges and had their lives ruined either with jail time, or financially in court. Calling the police on someone is not something you do lightly. There can be dire consequences.
