How did you get that from what he said? The idea of being resurrected with different glories of bodies has always been a doctrine and has always been taught.

The whole word "telestial" was conjured up by Joseph Smith and can be found only in his Bible translation. It can't be found in any of the original manuscripts from which the letter to Corinthians was translated from. If you look up JSV of 1. Corinthians 15:40 it reads “Also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial, and bodies telestial; but the glory of the celestial, one; and the terrestrial, another; and the telestial, another.”
Compare it to KJV 1. Cor. 15:40 “There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.”
Joseph had to come up with a new word, in order to introduce new doctrine that came along with it.

I realize this is opening a can of worms, but I disagree with your statement. The doctrine he is referring to is what’s commonly referred as “the three degrees of glory”. Celestial, terrestrial, and telestial. Celestial with god and father and all that they have. The other two not so much. Nobody, including him, knows where we are going, that’s up to God to decide, but we know that trying to live the commandments and be like Jesus is the way to get there.
Now as a member, I don’t see this as any kind of “telestial Ken Doll” talk. But you can’t be in any of the kingdoms without that same level of “glory”, “body”, “etc”.
That being said, if anybody has a question (I skimmed the surface like a water boatman) the I would be happy to elaborate. But as a member, I just don’t see where this statement or interpretation is coming from and would respectfully disagree

All the things that don’t matter in this life are SO important in the next. This doesn’t make any sense to me. Hahaha. It makes me feel so icky. In a massive universe full of wonders and beauty, you’re telling me the best we can hope for is that I’m finally going to get a mansion?!

Eternity. This is at most.. 100 years of your life.
Take now.. a thought of 100 years. A million. A billion years. Such a long life you can see a planet form, and life grow, and the planet die.
So long a life you can witness a star be born, and the same star die.
Turns out, living with happiness in that life is indeed more than in this life.
In this life would you rather be happy for one second or 100 years? Because even that shred of time is insignificant to eternity.

"In both of these kingdoms there will be changes in the bodies and limitations.
Some of the functions in the celestial body will not appear in the terrestrial body, neither in the telestial body, and the power of procreation will be removed.
I take it that men and women will, in these kingdoms, be...neither man nor woman, merely immortal beings having received the resurrection”

I see it as an 3 fold agenda move.
    (1) A power handshake, power share/xfer with Oaks
    (2) A hook to snag all members to be more self aware to obedience, beliefs and actions.
(3a) A push on more marriages. Keep in mind young marriages were brought back in full force a few months ago. This just garners a trigger and added groomed concept to feel more right with following the prophet's directive and start making babies sooner.
(3b) This also snags some other niche collectives in Mormondom living in older truths to get emotional and triggered to reinstitute their layered beliefs/'purpose to truth'. When Apostles revisit past highly postured layers, they play reality 'like hitting a key on a keyboard' (Their internal metaphor belief, not mine) with what HQ wants.

The Joseph Smith Translation does not claim to be a literal translation from original manuscripts. It is more like a “biblical commentary” or “Bible Study Guide,” as we would call it today.
Telestial is just a word used to describe the kingdom below the Terrestial. The Earth is a “Telestial” world. :)

Celestial bodies (like God the Father and Jesus Christ) have the brightness of the sun.
Terrestrial bodies have the glory of the moon.
Telestial bodies have the "glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory." (1st Corinthians 15:41)
That is basically all we know about those bodies, other than the comment referenced from Alma.

The "TK smoothie doctrine" is a very logical conclusion for believers in other Mormon teachings like the three degrees of glory and exaltation and eternal marriage, etc. It also gives some insight into the Church's tradition of anti-LGBT teachings and it makes sense that Nelson would believe in it given his fixation on the conditionality of God's love.
At any rate, he didn't say enough to be sure. He could have just been talking about "glory" (whatever that means) and not specifically about genitalia. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if he expounds on it.

39 Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. 41 The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.
42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead.

It's not Ken doll doctrine. It is 1st Corinthians 15:40. It clearly states you will be resurrected into bodies of different glory. This isn't new. When Moses had his great vision, he saw God in His glory. He then saw Satan in his glory. He could clearly discern between the two glories. Would it not be the same with our bodies? We will be restored to a perfect immortal body just as we have now only incorruptible and perfect. However, the glory we possess will be different; not the body parts.

The doctrine of resurrection and the type of glory associated with the body a person is resurrected with is an eternal principal. Long before Ken dolls existed.

@joetaylor8687 - I have read it. And your point is? Why would there be different kingdoms of glory if resurrected bodies didn't align with the level of glory God will assign them to? The Book of Corinthians describes the kingdoms of God like different levels of brightness, so why wouldn't bodies be resurrected to align with those levels of brightness? No one will be missing body parts and reproductive organs. Bodies will be intact with different levels of brightness and glory.

That's not what Brigham Young taught. He most definitely taught that if you didn't make it to the celestial kingdom(which required polygamy and at least 2 wives) there would be no procreation for you and therefore no need for those body parts. I was taught this in seminary taken from Brigham's teachings. @@micheleh3851

He didn't say that they don't have reproductive organs. The Family Proclamation teaches that gender is part of our eternal identity and purpose. When he says "what kind of body," he is talking about the difference between celestial and terrestrial and telestial glories-- Paul makes reference to this in the New Testament: "There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another" (1 Corinthians 15: 40).

There are celestial bodies, terrestrial bodies, and telestial bodies. (1 Corinthians 15:40) I didn’t hear President Nelson talk about telestial bodies being resurrected without reproductive organs. He’s inviting us today to choose to live in a celestial way so we can be resurrected with a celestial body. He’s inviting us to live in such a way that we can live with our families forever, live in the presence of god the father and his son Jesus Christ.

That’s a funny and interesting take, but my interpretation was that he was referring to D&C 76:70 and 77 where it says there will be bodies resurrected with either celestial or terrestrial glory. Glory could be a euphemism for genitals (and does make sense as you mentioned due to the inability of anyone except celestial beings being able to procreate), but I think the average member is going to think of “glory” as light and righteousness and not anatomy.

It gets worse, Nelson misquoted D&C 132:7:
“All covenants, contracts, bonds, obligations, oaths, vows, performances, connections, associations, or expectations, that are made and entered into and sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise … have an end when men are dead.”
The ellipses skip "are of no efficacy, virtue, or force in and after the resurrection from the dead", which changes the meaning. Nelson's reading invalidates "work for the dead" and damns almost all of humanity. It damns people with abusive spouses or those who never had a chance to marry, let alone in the temple.

Search the scriptures to fina out how God loves you as you are, he sees YOU, dont be so hard on yourself as 1Samuel 16:7 tells us where he looks & where man looks. Prophet Nelson says some wonderful things aswell, we all do.
Prophets are sinful humans as we are, as Jospeh Smith said “Prophets are only prophets when they are acting like one, when they are not they are just like everyone else faulty with mistakes just doing their best” Is partly why God tells us to test the spirits & study scripture daily. Hope this encourages someone that no matter where you are, dont ever let yourself get bogged down with “Im not good enough”, step on top of that mound & walk over it, just embrace the love & enjoy life, be proud of yourself everyday God knows ❤

Honestly if the church is true then the church needs to start letting people choose what kind of path they want to live instead of having this narrow minded attitude like the celestial kingdom is the only destination 😑.
