    The only bit you didn't show in the video was the low pressure pipe removal and refitting.
    Anyone out there doing this, please note that you will need a jubilee clip to refit this. BMW have used a crimp on one use clip which you have to destroy to remove the pipe. Just make sure you have one to hand before removing your pump.

      you know what size jubilee clip you need?

    • @SmudgeDiver
      @SmudgeDiver Месяц назад

      @@Stealth360stealth if you look at the pipes coming from the oil reservoir at back of engine (under the bonnet) it'll give you some idea. The pipe is a bit bigger than your thumb. I no longer own a mini and unfortunately I don't know the size of the pipe.

    My car does not have the power steering fan. I have seen other minis R53 which have it. Is it a missing part on my car or did some of them come out without that fan? Thanks, great video

      Be careful my 04 mini just catched fire and I am suspecting the fan malfunction as the oil was boiling hot! I have just read in an article a while ago about mini catching fire this way… Be safe

      @@ED-os7nf I read that only the Mini Cooper S has fan fitted from factory because of the extra heat from then supercharger. My doesn’t have it.
      I am sorry about your car. My one was vandalised these days.

      @@samuelhunsche sorry to hear that, mine is not supercharged but still has it… Just wanted to create the alert just in case someone reads this… Its not the first mini that catches fire after hours of being parked. The neighbors came knocking to tell me after 2 hours of the car being parked and fortunately I was able to see that the fire started on the cables surrounding the power steering pump. I think other people haven’t been so lucky and never knew what started the fire in the first place

    Does it make any specific sound when you move steering wheel? Mine is super loud even after pomp regeneration. And wheel still hard to move.

      did you ever fix it

    • @Stealth360stealth

      to be honest they've been known to be loud whining pumps going all the way back to when the cars came off the production line. And the steering wheel is pretty heavy compared to modern cars post 2010.

    Is it possible to strip/clean an existing PSP to see if dirt/carbon buildup is the cause of failure?

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  2 года назад +1

      Well the “new” pump I fitted was a remanufactured item so yes you must be able to strip them down.

      Heavy steering usually gives it away. I’m not sure of any specific checks that can be done.

      @@emons9I think it's a build up of carbon in motor and the electrics causing it to short out. You can take apart and clean it all. Not too big of a job.
