Good afternoon I hope you can help me the address of my mini cooper S 2006 R53 When turning left or right, it gets stuck or stuck and doesn't come back. It's like a force contrary to what you want to do. turn I already checked for a possible electrical problem check power and ground to the pump and everything is fine remove the hose from the oil outlet and the pump works very well what could it be thank you for help
@@DaringBeefcake thank you so much Well, I didn't think it could be the steering rack, since it doesn't make noise when the oil turns to its level. How is there a way to tell if the steering rack is bad without disassembling? some tip Again, thank you very much for your time my best wishes James
Good afternoon I already found myself in trouble my scanner apparently is not the one suitable for my mini I bought it and I think I was missing information they lent me a suitable one and I already noted that the front ABS sensor had a fault and it was a cable that was already broken I repaired it and it works it gives me pleasure !! I already requested it from the mini agency and the new one arrives on Monday thanks for your help my best wishes James
Hello,i have mini cooper s r53, today i took my car from mechanic that change steering pump, fan, and all wires (all brand new and original bmw parts) because old one burns out, i notice that pump and fan start running when ignition in position 2 (engine not running) any idea? faulty new pump? wrong wire connection? needs programming ? faulty relay ?
Hi, well what does your mechanic think. May be you need to see if there are any fault codes first. A brand new pump costs a fortune from BMW. Did u buy it new ?
Hi, I have this exact same issue, pump running when ignition in position 2 (engine not running) I have fitted a new pump but still its exaclty the same!! Any idea what this may be..?
Is the new pump, brand new pump or second hand new ? Because it could be a new second hand faulty pump. I’ve had issues like that many times. Just checking.
@@DaringBeefcake thanks fpr your reply, pump is brand new.. ive driven the car and all works fine, just that i also have power steering in ignition pos 2... 0v on pin 2 from alternator and 12v on pin 1 signal wire. 🙈
hi there, I got a cheaply mini (to play around with it, using it as a second car) and it was sold with steering fan issues. What are the "symptoms" of a faulty steering fan? the steering feels very heavy, especially on tight corners. The pump was replaced a few months ago
Is it an r53, because the power steering on those is heavy, so there is much you can do about that, the power steering fan tents to burn out but is just there to cool the pump down so it’s important to make sure it’s running, sometimes the fuse blows so you could always check the fuse too. If the fan fuse is blown as far as I remember it can also affect the radiator fan. So the car could overheat as a result.
@@DaringBeefcake thanks for the replay, really appreciate it. Should've mentioned it's an R50 (same steering as R53). I will check the fuse tomorrow, if the fuse it's ok, I guess it will go to the service. The steering pump been replaced in early 2019 at 90k miles. it has 105k at the moment
@@flom127 well yes if the fuse is ok the little fan may be faulty very easy to replace but perhaps you need check for fault codes first and also the fan doesn't work constantly only as and when required, but the steering on this model r series feels heavy I have a 2001 and its heavy I have an r57 and the power steering is very light completely different made me think that something was wrong with my r53 but it wasn't
@@DaringBeefcake so I took it to the garage today and they said there’s something to do with the steering pump 😔 it was so bad that I was doing a full biceps workout to steer to full lock. Thank you for replying
@@flom127 oh my ok if you are growing biceps from turning the steering then defo something wrong, they tend to leak fluid too, well sounds like you might need a new steering pump, bugger well there a second hand ones you can get it’s not difficult to change, a new is expensive.
My mini is leaking but the pump is fine no faults my guess would be the reservoir or the leak is from feeding and return hose. The big o ring on the plastic thing on the pump. When it’s full it’s fine. I keep a eye on it never run it out. Degrees the whole engine to work out fully where it’s leaking from.

the steering rack may be faulty, I had an issue like that on another car, and had to change the rack itself..

Yes is new but there is no any fault codes about the pump 😢. But the symptoms are exactly the same as your video
hey friend, theres a diference in PWP of MC S and MC base?
As far as am aware the only difference between the 2 is the ecu.
