    sorry have to ask what was the base color of the skin? not the normal maps. because i did it with a 2d image (gimp quick edit etc) and tried to do a firefly skin. but the outside of the firefly glowed more then the inside of their tail if that makes sense. i made the 2d image a bright yellow and white maybe thats why?

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  10 месяцев назад

      The color of the lights is dark green.
      You might need to play with the colors that you add to the normal map. This is a trial and error situation. See what works best for you when you move the weapon around and go with it

    Would you use a similar method to create an iridescent effect similar to the printstream skins, or is that a wholly different concept?

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  Год назад

      Sorry for the delay. I was on vacation!
      No, the Printstream skins use the pearlescent effect. The creator of the skin basically created a white skin and pumped it up with a very high pearlescent value

    do you think the inverse could be true? in the dark the parts will glow while in light its dull?

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  10 месяцев назад +1

      It's not about dark or light. It's about the angle of the light source. The effect shown at 2:13 in the same video shows best how things work. Physically that's the only possible effect, no way around it

    I tried to implement Glass and Porcelain texture in my skin but I think those are not supported in CSGO. Can you address the issue when u have some time? Thanks. I may mail you the blend file and all sheets if you want to have a closer look. I have some photos too.
    edit: also, the solution (if any).

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  Год назад

      The best you can do when trying to achieve glass effect in CSGO is to do something similar to the polymer skin. However if you tried to create a glass texture using a glass shader in Blender, hoping to see some transparency in the texture then that's not possible

    I have a question why is it that only submachine guns can have glowing when shooting?

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  10 месяцев назад

      It's not just SMGs. The effect is visible when shooting with automatic rifles and heavy machine guns. However the effect is not visible with low fire rate guns like pistols and shotguns because of the low fire rate. When a pistol or a shotgun shoots the fire happens fast and there's isn't enough time to see the glowing effect

    • @viperskins

    Hey Vipes- thank you for your incredible tutorials, taking me almost 3 whole days to perfect my first skin lmao.
    Have been looking at your workshop and have to admire how talented you are at making skins. I genuinely think you’re too far ahead of the game aha. I’d love to make some revision suggestions, and perhaps even collaborate on some new ideas. I’m new to making skins, but am not new to design and have 2k hours in CS 🫶

    • @viperskins
      @viperskins  Год назад +1

      Thank you very much for the nice words. They really mean a lot to me :)
      Don't worry about your skin taking too long to look good. All good looking skins take so much time until their creators are satisfied with them.
      As for collaboration, I appreciate the offer but lately I've been getting so many collab requests. Plus I'm currently on a break until I fully understand the consequences of CS2 and what changes it will be bringing to the skin making game. I hope that you'll enjoy your skin making journey, and always feel free to ask questions in the comment section of my videos :)
