Once as I was fanning a Go commuter train, I saw the drivers in the cab car giving me some kind of hand signal while it was stopped, which it took me a minute to understand what the signal was for, but a minute later, I moved off to the side a little and everything was great. As the train pulled out the station another minute later, the driver kindly opened his window and said to me to be safe. You’re not breaking the law or anything my friend. You just gotta be safe. I find most railroaders are very nice as well. Its a tough job they have, they are responsible for millions of dollars of equipment and inventory on every shift, or train they run. It can be a stressful job. Happy New Year!

Remember you’re filming people working at jobs where the threat of one violation of policy could mean termination. Film the trains, but not the workers. Just decency.

I used to work railroad. I don't care to do it again. It was very long days in all kinds of weather conditions with little to no sleep, usually on an empty stomach and having to tolerate bad co workers and or a boss who wanted to see you gone. So, maybe that will give a little insight to why most railroad workers aren't friendly or don't have the time to stop everything for your entertainment.

Yea, it is so crazy talking to railroaders how much management wants to fire all their employees so much. Pretty much the opposite of most normal jobs.
