  • Empire Service trains race in and out of NY's capital at speeds up to 110mph.
*Note: One of the videos had audio file issues and as a result is very quiet. I included the clip anyway as I went through hell to get the shot :)
    Thanks for watching!

I so enjoyed watching Amtrak trains at speed. I like the way each train is named, the Empire, & the Maple leaf for examples. Here in New Zealand we name our passenger trains too: The Trans- Alpine, the Coastal Pacific & the Silver Fern. But, they don't travel at speed as the gauge of the track is only 3feet & 6inches!

I am from Uruguay. Excellent video with fast trains. And what a beautiful state NY is! Passenger trains are virtually non-existent here, we have a good bus service though.
    Thank u & best wishes

Doesn't make sense to. Inefficient, large. Sentiments like that is what keeps rail travel bad, when in reality we can use them as a fell swoop to eliminate short haul flights, and long car rides.

      Locations from beginning to end
      Riverview Park Rd MP 124.2
      Hamilton Paper Way MP 135.0
      Staats Island Rd MP 137.2
All are on Amtrak's Empire line. If you wish to see trains at or about 110mph, Hamilton Paper Way is your best bet. Staats Island going south still accelerating out of Rennselaer and Riverview Park is a speed change from 110mph to 85mph.
      Hope this helps😊

In India most of the important trunk routes allow max speed of 130 km/h
While a small stretch of 200 km in the country allows 160 km/h
    For the Americans, 130 km/h is 81.25 mph, and 160 km/h is 100 mph
India is in the process of laying a 500 km stretch of high speed line exactly like Shinkansen, built under technical and financial assistance from Japan.
The entire network is broad gauge,
    1676 mm.
I believe only BART in the US is broad gauge

Are there any electrified lines in USA ?
How many drivers take place in the train's cabin ?
    Thanks

    • @agentorange153
      @agentorange153 6 месяцев назад +3

      (1) Most American railroads use diesel trains -- only a few lines are electrified (other than metro and light rail systems, which are all electrified), namely Boston-Washington DC, Philadelphia-Harrisburg, and most of the suburban lines in the New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia and Denver areas (plus a few in the Chicago area, and one currently in the process of electrification between San Francisco and San Jose, CA). (2) On mainline railroads, there are 2 crew on the engine -- the engineer and the assistant engineer (formerly called the fireman).

@lalakerspro You, too, before posting condescending comments.
We are so happy you have high speed train travel because you are you.
The DC NE Corridor isn't a bullet train.
Getting to DC about 165 miles up, I seriously doubt we get near 70. The 5-7 plus day night coal freight tearing up the track. I recall back limited to 65 mph, bad tracks.
Just because an engine is rated at some value does mean it's the norm.
      From Amtack 2022
"Significant milestone will improve reliability for customers across the Northeast Corridor
NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - Amtrak passengers can now travel even faster on Acela as recent infrastructure improvements along a 16-mile segment of track between New Brunswick and South Brunswick can accommodate speeds of up to 150 mph"
16 whole miles... so yeah somewhere in New Jersey you can hit 150 mph, for 16 miles, for 00:06:24 minutes you can go 150 mph?
      Don't blink.
And they are having to piece fix small sections like that all over.
It been reported that speeds will be restricted because of bottle neck track.
Joy, the envy Japan, China, Spain, Europe.
Up through DC having by law electric points north, speeds are limited by century old tunnels and track with insufficient radius heading north.
The new Acela isn't going to do 160 mph through the Northeast Corridor. The track infrastructure is too outdated.
Yeah cherry pick an area, define it as status quo.
From a northern Corridor train rider.
