    Thanks for the info. I purchased my glidecam years ago and never really got to use it. I have a shoot tomorrow so I will be practicing today. I do think these glidecams give a more natural look over the motorized alternatives.

    Great video, lot of great tips. I have a small Zoom camera that I use to record me playing my guitar etc. and have been practicing using a stabilizer. Looking to upgrade to an entry level Canon that shoots good video, looking to spend around $500.00, what would you suggest. Thanks

    I really liked a free air of your projection. It was more interesting to watch your vid than others' ones. I bought a second hand glidecam HD2000, tried to adjust it with gh5s+sigma 18-35 setup..setup weight is abt. 1,7 kg spent almost a whole day. I just can not get a steady horizon if I spin it it starts wobbling a bit not spinning straight..if I circle it around myself (so that it faces same direction) it all nods a bit. When I walk it floats a bit, there is no straight skyline/horizon. Is that a feature? Or it is just a defect of a secondhand equipment and my twisted hands not able to adjust it properly. I watched a dozen of tutorials how to adjust the glidecam..all in vain so far or maybe I am too demanding.

    • @tomstrojnik
      @tomstrojnik  4 года назад +1

      Sorry for late reply, I missed your comment. Thanks for the feedback. From what you wrote it seems to me that you didn't balance it properly... and keeping the horizon straight is all about skill and practice

      I prefer glidecam any day of the week. Have used gimbals for a few years now, but going back to glidecam was soo good.

    • @tomstrojnik
      @tomstrojnik  4 года назад

      @@PatrikWestli Out of curiosity, what is the main reason you prefer glidecam?

    • @PatrikWestli
      @PatrikWestli 4 года назад +2

      @@tomstrojnik Personally I like the "natural" feel it gives the footage, also I like how easy it is switch between glidecam and handheld. The gimbal epidemic that is going on these days have made smooth shots so accessible, but I feel like a lot of people forget the fact that you can actually shoot without a gimbal and a lot of the shots look too robotic in my opinion. I still have my Ronin-M and I use it for some things that the glidecam simply wasn't made to do.

    • @tomstrojnik
      @tomstrojnik  4 года назад

      @@PatrikWestli agree with you! Both tools get you smooth shots but they create different looks and are best used in different situations... for example glidecam doesnt do well in windy conditions :)
      So I like to use both but it depends from what kind of a look i am going after.

      I like to use both. They create a slightly different look so it really is a personal preference. What kind of a look are you going after and what type of shots do you need. So no, not better - different :)
