Thank you for actually showing the details of how to remove each part, most other videos skip ahead or fast forward through some very annoying parts, I just wish I had seen your video before I removed my DME, I didn’t disconnect my battery, hope I didn’t fry some components in my car…
My E90 had the ECU die recently. It was due to water ingress, the inside has been slowly corroding until eventually it gave up the ghost. It wasn't obvious from the outside and only when I opened it that I saw the corrosion. After some investigating I discovered that there is very poor drainage in the ECU box well. Water drains very slowly and if there is a rain storm (or maybe carwash) the water will not drain fast enough and the ECU box will flood from underneath. Judging from the water mark on the inside of the ECU there was an inch of water in there probably many times (ECU is not watertight). My car is a RHD so it might not be the same for you but I would remove the ECU box and check it anyway. I drilled a big hole in there to allow drainage. I also sealed the bottom half of the ECU with silicone. But you need to make sure it's non acidic sealant or you might do more damage than good. BTW DDE is an ECU for the diesel cars so Europe only I guess.
Always swap out your (IVM)) on any used BMW. Always start with the IVM first. It distributes power to all major components on your Engine, including the Starter. It has several internal relays built into the IVM. The IVM is not that expensive.

Hi JD Cars, needs some help please as I am desperate with my 2012 F30 328i. I disconnected the battery when I went overseas. Came back and connected the battery back and not all is dead. The only things that work are the electric seats, comes the BMW logo on the dashboard and the positioning lights. All the rest is all dead. The car is in my garage unable to start, the BMW dealer wants me to tow the car in and wants 300AUD/hr plus 200AUD for the tow. I would be happy to pay if there was a security to have the car fixed but I am worry the tech would not be able to connect to the car onboard computer to access the faults like in your case.... What would you recommend? The battery is fully charged as I used a CTEK charger... I was thinking in buying an icarsoft CR Pro to check if I could connect to the car CPU... Any advice is welcomed!!
Was it the cas in the end I'm having same issue and bmw told me the edu was bad then the next day whole car lost complete power all around and my terminal 30g clicks
Hi, I’m having some electrical issues bc I think it maybe my DME or CAS module. I was wondering what company did you send to and how much was it to check is it’s still working properly? If it is the problem do you need to recode them if getting new ones? Also did you have any error codes? I know you fixed the problem and it’s the JBE Box. Thanks!
I’m sorry I forget where exactly I sent my DME - I think it was DME doctor or something like that. I was unable to check for error codes because the OBD port wasn’t working.
I have a 2002 BMW 745li we had a flat going about 70 did some damage to the front end and wires were hanging down from under the right front the tire ripped off the under cover and a lot of wires were bare and touching... after getting the car home and doing the repairs fixing the wires and all... I tried to start it and it almost started and then died... now the key fob wont accept the key and dash lights are flashing... and heavy battery drain... im not sure if it damaged the ECU but after seeing all its doing I'm going to order a new one and have it programed to the car... my question is could this effect or damage the CAS...? my wonderful bmw mechanic says... the CAS is damaged... and all the computors and modules are fried... but he couldn't connect the car to his computer because there is no communication from the ecu for him to check anything... he quoted me $4-6000 to repair... I will take it step by step and see if what he is saying is true... but I will start with the ecu and go from there
He probably gave you such a high quote due to the diagnosis process. Resolving the issue will require replacing modules one by one to figure out which one is fried. You could try buying them used off eBay like I did. I saved myself hundreds of dollars.
Would the CAS module control the gearshift position LED and backlight for the Start/Stop button? I have a battery drain issue on the 2008 320D that I am trying to troubleshoot. These lights are remaining active after the car is powered off and locked using the central locking. Even after 30mins these lights are remaining on. Removing the PDC module stopped the battery drain and I have read that the relay on the junction box for the PDC is controlled by the CAS module (Terminal 15 KL15).
Wow... I'm sorry you are going through this with your car! I hope you can get it all together and find the issue... Mine gave me the steering wheel lock sign yesterday and it did not wanted to turn on at all... I had to tow my car home and today I'll try to fix it and see whats wrong with it. By the way, have you think about getting the CARLY FOR BMW?
JD Cars wow... Sorry once again, i hope you get it to work and keep updating to see what was the issue. I got my car to run again once i hit the steering wheel like 20 times, then the wheel got to unlock. But i need to find out how to get it fixed 100%, I guess I need a Carly.

have you tried pulling all the bulbs out and replaced them with the OEM lights? let it run for like 10 mins to adjust voltage and check again?

What fuse? Or was the entire junction box fried?
It’s a black box that sits under the fuse box
