That’s a juvenile bluefin. Still a great catch with a speargun. Bluefins get to be well over 1000 lbs. world record is 1496. Caught right in my backyard. We catch fish over 1000 lbs here every year.
I use to have a 25 Wellcraft, w twin 150s, before the era of massively overpowering boats! Was out by myself, striper fishing, off the beach, at Sea Side, when guys start yelling. I turn around, and school of tuna, come through, jumping out of the water! Started casting to them, as they were in range, then realized what i was doing, and just started laughing out loud! These were 2, 3 hundred # fish, min., the best i could have hoped for, was to lose all my line!!!

To me, it’s priceless. You would need a commercial license to sell bluefin. These younger fish aren’t as fatty as the ones they get on the east coast so they aren’t worth as much, but it would easily be worth a few thousand dollars

Yep they get over 1000lbs, usually illegal to spear them in the areas the big ones are though. In SoCal 100+ lbs is a good size!

Line is attached to a float, the big ones take the float down for a few minutes! Fatal shots are always preferred.
