Mo was a great singer in his own right. He could do falsetto almost as good as Barry, but he just felt that Barry and Robin were better singers than him and he never pushed himself forward.
@@susieq9801 Yes it's not that hard to write lyrics, but getting the melody to fit the song was Maurice's mastery. The guy was a musical genius and a great loss to the world.
Robins voice is so stunningly exotic and hypnotic it can split your heart into and make you feel as though a raging waterfall of tears and emotions is cascading over it.
What I liked about Robin's voice he could change his voice to sound different. Different pitches I think he probably had,,3 or 4 different sounds. You have to keep playing their music to know what I'm taking about. Actually all 3 could change their sound. But I love when Robin's voice sounded fragile 😅
Yeah, big surprise by Robin, huh? I loved them all!! I remember songs and moments by them, when I was breaking up with my first boyfriend. They hold places in time for me!!! AND may I say, I just love your passion for music!!!
I didn't see anything in the comments and hope I'm not overstepping but the performance was the song "For Whom The Bell Tolls" at a benefit for Children In Need
The contrasting voices really make this song whether alternating or sung together. Barry's is sad and soft sound about a lost love. Robin's is a powerful cry of anguish for someone lost to him forever..."a hole in my soul". You should listen to "I started a joke" live in Melbourne 1989 if you haven't done so. Robin was called by many critics and peers the best blue eyed soul voice of his generation. His vibrato was in inimitable and effortless. Another great Robin lead when still in his teens is "Black Diamond".
They sing with such a gentle purity. With all the horrible over singing today, to actually hear voices respecting the lyrics...total joy. There's 2 other excellent versions of this song. The official clip and also the version that sing outside in New York. Brilliant. Another beautiful later song of theirs is I Could Not Love You More. There's a lovely official video but an even better one where it's just the 3 of them. Never go wrong with the lads.😢
This is my favorite live version of this song and it is one of their best - which is saying alot. I love the way they transition their shared leads in this song and Robin is particularly awesome! This entire album is fantastic and full of 10s.
Great review, Sir ... Thank you. Please check out their version of "Will you still love me Tomorrow" .... They recorded that as a Tribute to Carole King. She said it was the best ever version recorded of the song. Their vocals on it are just stunning. Possibly their very best. You'll love it. You'll be amazed, i promise you ...... ♥️
What a great video, For Whom The Bell Tolls is from their 1993 Size Isn’t Everything álbum. It’s a beautiful haunting song with Robin’s unique ethereal voice and Barry soothing beautiful vocals. Thank you for your great reaction. Another fantastic Robin lead is HEART LIKE MINE, so filled with longing. ❤❤❤
Thanks for this reaction, I definitely agreed with your comments. This live performance of the song 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' was epic. Robin really owned it. I have seen the music videos and had an equal appreciation of Barry's soft soothing voice then the contrast with Robin's more emotional soulful voice. I couldn't say which appealed to me more. Here Robin's voice seemed super charged with emotions .. magnificent 👏 Another hidden gem...It Doesn't Matter Much To Me'. There is a back and forth between Barry and Robin's vocals in that song. ruclips.net/video/x9DaUzv4yi8/видео.html
These songs really showcases Robin's beautiful voice. I Can't See Nobody. When He's Gone. Mr Natural. My World. Also Michael Jackson and Barry Gibb have a song together. All In Your Name.
Love this song. They said in an interview that it was written about their brother Andy Gibb and Victoria Principle and their relationship and break up.
For me , it the best song from Beegees, ok, not the best, cause all are great, but, it is for sure my all time favourite. And Robin? God! This is a damn interpretation , this is "his song" ! God bless you all and a happy new year straight from Portugal 🇵🇹🙏🌟🎇
Children In Need is held once a year in November and it's on TV for around 7 hours raising money and profiles for a lot of the smaller charities around the UK. Dame Shirley Bassey actually took part with a rapper for this charity event live from The Royal Albert Hall, possibly about ten or so years ago
Not just phenomenal songwriting but they all wrote hits for many other artists, including Olivia Newton John, Barbara Streisand, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, Leo Sayer, Frankie Valli,Dionne Warwick,Yvonne Elliman,Destiny Child,I attended a Bee Gees concert in Las Vegas in 1997 called One Night Only, they were phenomenal live, in a interview Barry and Robin mentioned they always considered themselves first and foremost songwriters before being vocalists, but obviously they were amazing musicians and vocalists, great reaction thanks 🙏
Barry and Robin usually were singing the same part and they say that Maurice was the expert harmonizer. Perfect voices, perfect boys. Love Love Love. RIP Robin & Maurice.
Love your analysis. I feel the same, their songs are rides. You are never sure where they are going. The lyrics are always meaningful, too. The fact that they write the songs, produce the songs and sing the songs is more than I can comprehend. ( because there are so many over 4 decades )
This song was also done with a New York City production with a backdrop of the Twin Towers and it particularly hits the hearts. Aside I love to hear the songs that feature each of them. Have you done Mo's Man in the Middle yet?
President Pat, your reaction was spot on! The look on your face when Robin came in with the chorus said it all. What you said about the emotion Robin evokes when he sings is well known among the masses. He sounds like he is crying with heartbreak when he sings. He has always said that he sings from the heart. And he does a great job doing so with his incredible vibrato. I have yet to hear anyone, past and present, that has a vibrato like Robin's. So glad that it is now your favorite Bee Gees song, as it is mine, too, along with Massachusetts. Listen to Massachusetts, if you haven't already. You can really hear his vibrato on that song, too.
Love love this song....but as much as I hate to think it, it sounds to me like the vocals were taken from the studio recording. I don't understand why because they've sounded great together live in other venues. To add to your point about Robin's voice, there's something I can't define about it. It punches straight through to my soul every time unlike any other vocalist I can think of.
This was an awesome song.. however another beautiful song sung by Barry (take the lead)in this album was 'Paying The Price Of Love ' was also fabulous 🎉❤..
Great reaction. Thanks. There are so many Bee Gees Treasures that Radio ignored bacause of the Disco stigma. You get a chance, check out some 90's tracks like, Secret Love, Happy Ever After, You Win Again etc.. They are more pop sounds, but great harmonies, arrangements, lyrics and that bold flavor of all the brothers great voices!
As you are probably aware, the Bee Gees started their singing and song writing career in 1958 when they were young children. Their father had a band and was a drummer. Their mother was a dance hall singer. The boys ended up supporting their family with their music. I'm posting a link here for a performance they did in 1960 (the video title says it's from 1963, but I really think it's from 1960). I think this video gives good insight into how natural their talent was and how far they grew over the years. Hope you enjoy the video,. Barry starts the song and then Robin jumps in like 'hold my beer, i got this'

I always say that Barry bakes the cake and then Robin comes in and puts the icing on the cake
Exactly. Nicely put. I agree 😊
Well said!!!
Mo is harmonizing with Robin in most of the song. He doesn’t get enough credit for how much he impacts the songs.
Mo was a great singer in his own right. He could do falsetto almost as good as Barry, but he just felt that Barry and Robin were better singers than him and he never pushed himself forward.

*Robin sharing the lead turned a song into a masterpiece with his Vibrato*
Barry was on first lead, so he was sharing the lead with Robin.
