@Pierre Bvr we care. Next version may actually make dci 4k wider instead of a crop. Might have native 6k downsampled to 4k. Could have internal ND filters. There's a lot of possibilities worth waiting for. Plus new model would cause fx3 prices to drop 😤🦍 I'd love to buy one for 3k
Great video. Thorough, informative, easy to follow and spot-on in analysis. I have an a7s3 and zv1, and have been thinking about an fx3 as my third cam for a while. Also wishing Sony would update the A7s3 firmware to include the fx3’s quick menu and focus breathing compensation. Also hoping that new tracking ai, bumped up color science and dual tilt/flip screen from the ARV works its way into future a7s3 and fx3 models. My dream camera would be an a7s3 with quick menu, focus breathing compensation, new tracking ai, bumped up color science, higher megapixels and the new tilt/flip screen. Unlikely that’ll ever be the case, I know. But hey, I can dream
Thanks. Have you seen the new ZV-E1? Might be an option. I love the FX3 and if you can afford it you won’t be disappointed. Canon are still limited on lens options if you want to get Mirrorless lenses
This was really help Jonathan. Thank you. I didn’t know about the rolling shutter. I just figured since it’s a full frame camera the rolling shutter would be poor. I remember Phillip Bloom putting a speedbooster on the A7s to reduce rolling shutter hahha.
Thanks, I believe the FX3/FX6/A7siii sensor is the fastest reading rolling shutter sensor that exists. Only the Komodo with its global shutter is better in this price range.
@@JonathanPalfrey Wow that's even more helpful info. It's so awesome to be able to shoot full frame and not have to worry about horrible rolling shutter and get those awesome wide shots! Thank you!

You can shoot prores raw via a ninja v however I think it’s limited to being able to adjust white balance. We had the FS5 before and I can tell you the FX3 is a huge upgrade. The image quality is much better.
@@JonathanPalfrey I only shoot prores raw on the FX3 and it's miles above and ahead. You now get ALL raw adjustments, don't get the over-sharpened internal codec look and of course the 12 bit color info,
Good job with the video, well presented and effective. The camera is certainly impressive but I can't get over the mirrorless form factor, I much prefer the camcorder-like FS5-FS7 with their tactile controls and built-in ND filters, if we're staying in the Sony ecosystem.
Thanks. We used the FS7 and FS5 for years and last week I used an FX6. Your right about the tactile controls and solid build you get from a larger camera. That said the weight and some of the slightly clunky menus and operations of the bigger cameras I don’t miss. For me an FX3 with ND would be my dream camera, BRAW would be nice sometimes too)
Tough one, if both were the same price, FX3 is an easy choice. however with how affordable the S5MIIX is, plus open gate and an EVF I'd be tempted. I think it comes down to whether cropped 4K 50/60 is a problem or not.
I want two think in FX3, shutter angle and opengate in anamorphic mode. I'm coming from lumix s1 5 years old camera and he has more features than fx3 for 2 time lower price
Panasonic have always been very software rich I guess because it’s easy to add and doesn’t affect any of there other cameras, sadly not the case with Sony however you do gain other features.
@@JonathanPalfrey I agree! When I embrace the bmpcc's limitations, I actually love the camera. But, when I look at its list of deficencies, the FX3 and the S5iiX start to look pretty inticing. Thanks for the video!
@@zechenwei1139 the reason why I bought the A7s3 instead. As what Gerald Undone concluded, FX3 is just a7s3 in a different chassis. For me, the only reason to buy FX3 is the audio capabilities in its included top handle (a7s3 also have that but will be more expensive because its an optional acc) and Cine EI, but weighing about those 2, with my current usage, I can live without those two. For now, the feature that I really need is the full frame 10bit codecs, high frame rates and good dual native ISO, which I already got with the Sony a7s3. Seriously.. all this shit is too expensive.. and it doesn't have to be.. think Sony could humble themselves with Blackmagic $2k prices... all good.. with the economy being shyt n nobody being able to buy, the numbers will come down.. also, considering Hollywood is garbage n movies have been trash for the last decade overall.., there's only gonna be less n less ppl wanting to get into this field.. but idk, that might just kill the whole thing.. imagine if there were no content creators / RUclips.. there'd be no market for this stuff at all really.. everyone just fighting to get on a streaming service lol,, idk I'm being extreme here maybe but still..
