  • This video demonstrates how to change the oil on a 2012 Porsche 911. I use Mobile 1 Oil that I got locally from Autozone. The extended life filter is supplied as part of an oil change bundle on sale for $35. The oil change capacity is 7.5 Liters (8 quarts). A filter, 8 quarts of oil and a new drain plug & washer put the total cost of this DIY oil change at $90.

You should have dipped the oil filter gasket in oil before putting it on the oil filter cover.

Sure, I would agree that your suggestion is another acceptable way to lube the Oring. Although if we want to specify "should have" probably fair to quote the Porsche factory service manual which says " Fit a new Oring and grease lightly with Kluber Syntheso Glep (Part No. 000.043.204.68)". I like to perform the method in my video because it represents the factory intent but utilizes oil that is already available. The oil is only needed to keep the Oring from binding when torquing the filter cap to 19 ftlbs. Thanks for your suggestion. 👍

@@jackharding98 I didn't initially catch that you used the oil remaining on the oil filter cover. That's almost certainly adequate. As for the grease that they suggest in the manual, I'll just say that the Germans in general seem to over complicate things at the expense of practicality.

how much did it cost to replace your watch bezel?

😆 🤣, great question! I love that you noticed that. It was ok, but I am repeatedly terrible about forgetting to take it off when I'm working. It's a CITIZEN, so nothing super expensive but definitely not a wrenching watch.

@@beachlifebestlife It was painfully obvious to me as well when I was editing the video.
