Hi everyone,
I just tought I'd make a quick video about the new Chapman ML1 Baritone guitar and why I love this instrument so much.
I hope you enjoy the review and feel free to ask me any kinds of questions about the guitar.

Yeah Niki! Those riffs at 4:01. Awesome! Subscribed!
cheers mate!
Thinking of doing a nü metal project with one of my friends.
I'm considering buying this. Already own an Iron Label baritone though.
how u like the ibanez? thinkin about it cause the wizard thin neck. I have the mushock prs which is amazing.
wjveryzer7985 Hey, the RGIB6 is my go to guitar, I do like it very much. It's very comfortable, has a cut on the edge that fits your arm. Neck is good. The EMG's are excellent for metal, the styling is also pleasing. I do love the lack of inlays. The clean is a bit dry but if you got the PRS, that will compensate. I am also considering either the Mike Mushok or the 277 at some point.
Nice review (and great playing.) :) Curious how much this guitar weighs, approximately? (I'm a lighter build and feel much more at ease with lightweight guitars, even sitting down, they're just more comfortable for me. I'd love to switch to baritone and i'm looking at this as well as the gorgeous hagstrom viking, very different beast i reckon, it's semi-hollow, for one!)
It is pretty lightweight approx. 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs)
Great review bro! I love it. Where can i get this guitar in that green color tone ? I only found all options in natural wood color.
Hey bud, nice review. BTW do you think you can mount the beast with .084 gauge (to reach a low E tunning)? Waiting to hear from you!
I haven't tried yet but it might work for .084 gauge strings as well. Anyways, hope to hear some mind-blowing riffs from you buddy.
Hey Man! Sick review! Any imperfections with the guitar? I'm looking to buy myself one for Christmas lol
It's a very well crafted guitar made in Indonesia. I hope you'll enjoy playing it.
Hi Niki!
Nice review! ;) I ordered this guitar yesterday because i am now playing in a djent/prog metal band. Do you have some recommendations where i can get or buy cool sounds for kemper for this genre?
Hi Lukas, there are plenty of good profiles I tend to like the Michael Britt 5015 quite a lot.
Thank you very much for your response! I have some MB profiles and i like them a lot. So thanks for your advise, i will try the 5015 very soon
Nice review, subscribed!
thanks Chris
Cool video. What kemper profile are you using with it?
I'm using the M Britt Driftwood amp on this one
Hi! Nice video! I would like to buy my first baritone, and I think about this Chapman. Should I buy it? It's that good as all people say about this brand?
Hi Arturro, if you really want a long scale guitar this is a fairly good choice, but on the other hand you can easily adjust the intonation for the low tuning, buy some ernie ball strings 12-72 and put in some pickups with accelerated bottom-end responds and precise high-end articulation. It will work as well.
Hi, dude! Killer video. Just a question. I'm currently playing in drop a with my band, using an Ibanez rgdix6mpb, with the Earnie Ball Baritone strings.
I'm thinking about purchasing that Chapman Baritone model. Do you think it could reach to drop a without any issues? And what gauge of strings should i use with that tuning?
Thank you and greetings from Argentina!
Hi Nicolas, yes I would go with D'Addario 012-060. Keeps the low a string still pretty accurate. Greetings from Germany
yes it comes in b.. so tuning low string 1/2 step is fine with stock strings
Hey ! I like to play Satriani , 70s-80s heavy metal/rock and some Pink Floyd from time to time . Anyway most of the songs I like to play are in standard tuning . How does it hold for Eb standard tuning? And what string gauges would be ideal for it as this will be my first 24 fret guitar.
You can use 9 or 10 gauge strings for Eb standard tuning.
But why would you buy a baritone for standard tuning? I mean that doesn‘t make any sense?
здарсти Ники,случайно да си от България? китарата е много добра,като цяло Роб Чапман е направил добра селекция и мисля точно този модел да си взема,след като мина курсовете и се понауча да свиря добре,поздрави..
zdrasti Wencislav, merci za komentara. pojelavam ti mnogo uspehi s kursovete i kitarata. pozdravi Niki
IS the neck thin? i have the mushock bari and the im looking for something thinner. Ive been looking at the ibanez baritone cause it has the wizard neck.
The c-shaped neck is quite thin if you compare it to a 70's strat. If you go for speed the ibanez wizard necks are among the slimmest neck profiles, with a comfortable D-shape contour for easy playing.
Where did you get it from? All ML1 Baritones I've seen are not for sale and they come on a glossy chocolate color. Couldn't find a green-ish one like yours anywhere!
Hi Luismi, I got it from Tomann Germany in September. Here is the link: www.thomann.de/gb/chapman_guitars_ml1_modern_baritone_graphite.htm
Yeah I still can't find any other color than the chocolate graphite as well and I've looked every where.
+Jason Zeilstra weird. I walked into a used music store today and they had that guitar (the grey/greenish one)
Guys, there is only one color. It‘s just the light that makes it look different.
Hi, I have a quick question: Is it possible to tune this guitar in Drop C and D Standard? + with what gage of strings? + is it comfortable to play?
Thank you for the info!
Hi Bram, yes I would take a set of 10's for Drop C and D Standard. You may have to adjust the string height/action a little.
Kind of defeats the purpose of getting a baritone lol
@@ambrooks5 Not really. A longer scale length helps to avoid getting muddy on the low end when tuning down, but it also helps clear up the low end on closer to standard tunings as long as your string tension is optimal. A baritone guitar is not exclusive to heavy drop tunings.
Hey, great review! I was thinking about buying this guitar, but I can't try it out anywhere. Is it well balanced, or is it neck-heavy? I can't really tell from the video. Thanks!
Ana, I think it's a pretty well balanced guitar.
Love this video, you have a similar style to me so have a subscription!
thanks Scott!
Hello! I really liked your video! I was wondering if you know what string gauge do you have on it? And what string gauge would you use on it if you tuned to drop A#? Keep up the good work!
Hi La Mufata, the guitar comes with D'Addario 12- 60 gauge strings. For drop A# tuning the string tension is still pretty good and not too flabby
I use Daddario EXL157 (14-68) for drop A. EXL158 is a tad lighter.
+Rasmus Olesen this guitar is 28inch. you don't need a 68 for drop A. a 68 would easily put you in drop F
How well can you play lead and solo parts on this? That's my main concern about getting a baritone.
Drop D No different to a 6 string
@@davids9192 I think he’s talking about scale length. I tend to find my 7 string a tad challenging when playing leads. This baritone is about the same scale length as most 7 strings
@@ambrooks5 28" is more than 25,5" which is regular SS standard with some 7-strings going for 26,5".
which tuning are you using? and which string gauge does this guitar come out of the factory?
does it have a thin neck???
Like a speed neck?
It's pretty much a standard guitar neck.
ok thanks
What Standard string gauge does this guitar come with? Cheers!!
I think it was 11- 54. Not quite sure though. cheers mate
its 12-60's
14’s on mine
I bought one two weeks ago. It is good guitar for the price, but there could be some improvements, cavity shielding for example.
Hi Matej, I agree the guitar is reasonably good for the price and for sure there's always some room for adjustments.
aluminum tape :)
Matěj Růžička how do you mean cavity shielding?
Using aluminium or copper tape to shield the cavity of the guitar. Just use google. There is alot of "How to" articles and videos. When it is done by manufacturer of guitar, they usualy use conductive paint.
Hi Niki! What are your thought of this guitar after 2 years having it if you still have it? Cheers
Joey, I still have it but I replaced the stock pickups with some bareknuckles
@@NikiIndjov Hi, and would you recommend it qualities wise? Like no issue with neck , tuners etc...? Thank you for your time dude
@@Joeytemper it's a good build quality. Intonation is pretty good as well
Hi, how do respond in clean mode, it works for ambient music?
Jose D There’s a video on RUclips of a guy playing one of these in guitar center into a boss katana 50 and he does clean with reverb and delay. Sounds absolutely beautiful. ruclips.net/video/fULhibWe5jI/видео.html
What tuning did yours come in ?
The guitar comes in with a standard B tuning.
Is the guitar topheavy?
What are you tuned too?
Hi Rob, I'm tuned to drop Bb
No gig bag with these anymore
Guess it's good for Stoner rock.
i would like to get this guitar but my parents said im not allowed to spend my money on any more guitars for a while cause i already got 3... itd be much appreciated if you could buy me one ;) ;) plez
what tuning do you use here?
