Jake from Signals is VERY good as a sensible theory teacher, Mike from The Art of Guitar, and Uncle Ben are also theory monsters as well as great technical players.
Climb up with the a string minor scale from open up while alternate picking your e)-now D string with every note that you hit on your a string, climb up or down to shred.. Then add all the diads-two note chords, with the higher d string and the a string pattern u just hit. Either be a half step or fulll step in either direction Congrats u can now play with every song thats in d or a and even g. Which is prolly 40% of all wstrn music
i did read top 3 drop d riffs. i basically just watched 5.33 mins of Bea telling me all the stuff i already knew, without even questioning why he's not playing riffs haha.
The color/grain on that far left grey Tele-ish guitar is absolutely gorgeous. I get the same "Wow, that is beautiful!" feeling I get when looking at a Silverburst Les Paul. Kudos!
Ive been playing guitar for 19 years, and never been a shredder, just a standard player. These tips have blown my head wide open. Thanks a lot bea!!! BTW Grinding gears rocks!!!!
Rabea, i am a bass player who uses the one good finger on my right hand to do all the fretting work when i play, and use my two best fingers on my other to handle plucking work. It took me watching a guitar lesson on RUclips a few months ago to realize what all of my "friends" that are guitar players could have taught me years ago whenever i expressed a desire to be able to play guitar.... knowledge of playing a stringed instrument that had no knowledge of chord building was the only missing piece. NO ONE ever shared that bit of free knowledge, especially when i am around so many musicians that down-tune their instruments.... Well, regardless. Thanks to my recently found knowledge and the basis on which to build my abilities, i have become quite the riffing addict on guitar in just a couple of months as well as continuing to advance my bass playing skills, UBER thanks to guys and gals like you for being willing to spread knowledge in a community of people that often seem very hesitant to want to advance the ability of those around them. Cheers to you! By the way, I FUCKING love my lefty ghost fret V2 =D if ya wanna see how i play, i have a video posted of a cover of shortest straw on bass that i posted recently. cheers man.
Rabea is the man!!!!! Cheers for the lesson.....l been looking for a cool open tuning to add to the open G and D and E,l already know!!!! Love ya playing man!!!!
Actually as a beginner player, This was absolutely helpful. It's been really cool applying my vocal training and the theory I learned in my life being a singer...the doors that have opened. IN any event, thanks for the new understanding .
I remember when I discovered drop tunings for the first time when I was a kid, and it changed everything. Great little vid that will definitely be helpful for beginners :)
For those people who aren't familiar with down-tuning, these tips applies to down-tuning in general (Drop C, Drop B, Even Drop A) and not just Drop D :) Also to give an example of a Band that uses all of these tips a lot is Bullet for my Valentine (Although most of their music is written in Drop C). Great video as always :)
Never had it explained to me that way. Really clears it up, in my mind, and removes a lot of confusion I was having about drop D. Thanks, I really enjoy your playing!
I was in Andertons recently and checked out the latest grey - black satin PRS SE range, and whilst they looked great I found the bottom E string on a couple very buzzy and they didn't feel very well set up. I then tried a couple of Chapmans and they played beautifully so as a comparison I would have gone for the Chapman. :-)
Thanks Bea,these lesson style vids are a great way of teaching those of us who dont know about these types of tunings and why they are used.More of this type of content would be great.
So glad you struggled for a sec at 4:56 ish, I do same fooking thing with that shape and i thought it was me, I always found it awkward. I'm more garage rock vintage hard rock but i'm getting into the grunge sound bit recently so Ive been experimenting in drop D And this was really helpful. I've watched you guys for ages n it's always well presented and great viewing! More instructional content would be welcome I'm sure most would agree. All the best over Christmas.
I'm of sufficient age, that the first time I learned drop D tuning... it was to play Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young. (actually - double drop D tuning to be more accurate) Still blew my mind!
I'm not even close to being a begginer on guitar and for playing metal for many years i'm no strange to drop tunings however i've always prefered regular tunings. Sound more natural to me. Recently i've been playing drop tunings more and this was really cool. Some interesting tips.
Great tips. Thanks! I always think it's helpful for beginners to have tips like these so they sound like they're playing something. People get bummed out trying to play "twinkle twinkle lil star" from a book, and end up quiting! If they play something like this...wow! And it's easy!
I have known about drop D for a long time now from friends and family but i have not experimented with it yet. I am however at the point where I'm chugging and such ... so I will definitely try the drop D. Thanks for the tips.
I all the time use Drop D tuning but i already knew this things or tips but if anyone want to use this tricks i say " come on and let's rock ;) " couse they are work ;) I like this vid! Congrats guys ;)
That's my favorite part of Drop D: Versatility. One-fingered caveman power chords and crazy stacked, extended voicings both fit comfortably in such a simple alternate tuning.
Dude I love that guitar... got 1500 to get something new been playing a fender for like 15 years now (sameguitar) American strat... any good advice for my new guitar and budget?
Love the Dsus2 chord shape. I also look at it as stacking 2 power chords on top of one another, if you don't play the E string for the sus2 'colour'. e.g. at 5th fret it is GDGDG(mute top string) for a big sounding G5.
Rabea could you do a video or something explaining your stroking techniques on the first tip? I loved how that played. I've only been playing a couple of months and I'm a student of Musicisum and I'd love to learn how you were doing that. Thanks
Alex Rooney oh! I'm silly, I just realized looking at drop C and C# tunings that every other string is just moved down the same the low string is. Thanks!
Hey, Rabea, would you do a video on the intermediate level video about open major tunings? I think it’s a versatile tuning for an instrument. Many know, or can google search, the very basics of it, but what’s would you say is taking it up a notch?
Very cool, does the name of the chord change by detuning the low E to D.Will the fifth fret bar still be an A chord ? or will it now be a G chord ? I am guessing a fifth fret will now be a G am i right.
Bea, could you please, in the name of (well, the good part of) mankind, record a guitar course? You are the best teacher in all of YT. The End. PS: PLEASE, MAN. PLEASE. I bet anyone would pay wild loads of money for it.
Saw rabea clicked rabea listened to rabea amazed by rabea even tho I already know drop tunings. Now want rabaes tone and effects. Wanna incorporate that into my own personal music. Bro u gotta make a video of how to dial in your amp and using those effect pedals.
Remember when you first discovered the concept of Drop D tuning and it blew your mind?
I felt like a god :D
Yup it absolutely shattered my brain.
I remember it well, discovered it by accident one day when I was a kid. WOW! I sound like HELMET!
Tool.
Tuning lower with standard intervals - mind blown initially.
Drop tuning - mind blown again.
Drop on lower tuning - mind blown severely.
Drop tuning in which E-string goes down 5 semitones down instead of usual 2 - high impact mind implosion.

Rabea is honestly the best teacher. He should definitely do like instructional DVD’s for everyone. I feel like I’d learn so much more
Might want to check this out :) www.musicisum.net/about/
DVD's heheheh
dvds in 2017 lol
Amen
Jake from Signals is VERY good as a sensible theory teacher, Mike from The Art of Guitar, and Uncle Ben are also theory monsters as well as great technical players.
I’ve been in standard tuning this whole time, learned the pentatonic scale and all 5 positions. This just blew my mind, can’t wait to get into it. 🤘🏼
Awesome bro. The world of drop tunings is great lol. You think Drop D is awesome? Drop C and Drop C# are even better imo.
@@ZachMcCordProg it's pretty much like drop D but just everything is a whole step for C and the low E is tuned to C and so forth.
"Sometimes you need that width"- Bea 2017
Akuma Kami nice one hahaha
*cough* Ben Solo *cough*
You can never have enough width.
"honey never gives up" - bees 2017
"move up the fretboard in the key of d minor"
*You have unlocked unholy confessions*
Easy
Derrick Abbott Almost Easy
Lol

does this technique only work on chapmans
Aliens Exist drop D works on every guitar
@Tim la Grêle I don't think so. It's a patented invention by Chapman Guitars Co.
ThDef maybe we are misunderstanding each other but i actually have my guitars in drop d, and they're not Chapman
you can only tune down if you have a chapman guitar its just logic dude
:whoosh:
i did read top 3 drop d riffs.
i basically just watched 5.33 mins of Bea telling me all the stuff i already knew, without even questioning why he's not playing riffs haha.
wtf same wtf
I've been playing for 36 years now and I just learned some new stuff. Thanks Bea
The color/grain on that far left grey Tele-ish guitar is absolutely gorgeous. I get the same "Wow, that is beautiful!" feeling I get when looking at a Silverburst Les Paul. Kudos!
Agree!!!
Ive been playing guitar for 19 years, and never been a shredder, just a standard player. These tips have blown my head wide open. Thanks a lot bea!!! BTW Grinding gears rocks!!!!
That dsus2 power chord was like instant Tool
Sonic Titan yeah. I thought exactly the same thing.
That tone is godly.
Andrew D i fully agree holy christ its so good
Was thinking the same. Sounds like some kind of stacked overdrives
Yeah was going to comment. Dairy as fuck and has the clarity of a nun
"In a nutshell, the finger acts as a nut."
Epic
Can you nuts act like a nut?
my first drop d riff was Everlong by Foo Fighters!
Be quiet and drive - Deftones. Blew me away.
Both songs are absolute great drop D
What about a firebird style chapman guitar?
They might become like esp - just rip offs of every single gibson shape
How about an ML shape or something lol
Peter Salade that would be awesome
I would love some offset shapes
This needs a vote! To make it classy but modern!
Chapman Guitars needs to bring out some sort of rd shaped guitar. I'd probably buy one
That would be quite the guitar.

This is exactly the video I've been wanting for YEARS!
Best lesson on D drop I have seen. Thank you.
Cool thing! Can you do it also for Drop C Tuning, or is it the same! I guess it´s only one step downwards?
Actually as a beginner player, This was absolutely helpful. It's been really cool applying my vocal training and the theory I learned in my life being a singer...the doors that have opened. IN any event, thanks for the new understanding .
When I first started playing guitar i would freak when I seen that the song to be learned is in Drop D. Lol Now I love it!!
I love how he smiled after that pinch harmonic
LOVE the 2nd tip with the barred d shape - will definitely use this! Thanks so much!
I remember when I discovered drop tunings for the first time when I was a kid, and it changed everything. Great little vid that will definitely be helpful for beginners :)

Great video as always :)
Not only can he shred, but he's a good teacher as well. Good video, I like the direction being taken with the channel.
2:52 is not a horrible chord it's A/G and it actually sounds pretty awesome
The E shape barre chord changed to D shape barre chord was so helpful, thanks alot!
Blimey! Haven't seen Rabea in a while - the fella has lost no end of weight 👍 Respect!
Adam Jones of Tool loves that D sus2 shape, it's in almost every song. I do too!
This is what I like about the 7 string in Drop A. It's the 6-string standard I've been learning, but then I can add in the 1-finger power chords.
Never had it explained to me that way. Really clears it up, in my mind, and removes a lot of confusion I was having about drop D. Thanks, I really enjoy your playing!

All the best over Christmas.
What a great guitar sound.. Sharp, no buzzing.. Good for teaching and professional use. I must have one
I’m not necessarily a beginner but this gave me ideas for songwriting. Thanks man.
I like adding a G string octave to that last tip too. Drop D just brings out a different monster!
I'm of sufficient age, that the first time I learned drop D tuning... it was to play Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young. (actually - double drop D tuning to be more accurate) Still blew my mind!
Doug Booth for me it was Cortez the Killer
I'm not even close to being a begginer on guitar and for playing metal for many years i'm no strange to drop tunings however i've always prefered regular tunings. Sound more natural to me. Recently i've been playing drop tunings more and this was really cool. Some interesting tips.
very interesting ,as a slide player using open tuning I find the demo helpful thanks
THIS! Such a huge video. Bea, you are the man. Thanks for unlocking this for me. Best wishes on your continued success and a great many thanks.
Great tips. Thanks! I always think it's helpful for beginners to have tips like these so they sound like they're playing something. People get bummed out trying to play "twinkle twinkle lil star" from a book, and end up quiting! If they play something like this...wow! And it's easy!
Like the way you presented that idea Rabea.Great job!!!
Rabea is the best teacher love his approach to learning.
Thanks so much for helping me understand how to work with drop d tuning.
Bea is an excellent teacher!
I have known about drop D for a long time now from friends and family but i have not experimented with it yet. I am however at the point where I'm chugging and such ... so I will definitely try the drop D. Thanks for the tips.
This helped out a lot. Just started to play guitar and write songs
Thanx for another superb Video. Rabea delivers Instruction in a simple and no nonsense manner.. Keep up the good work.
Dropping the D just isn't the same without Danish Pete

Great video . Helped me understand drop D a bit more.
Question do you bother sleeping with a pillow?
I all the time use Drop D tuning but i already knew this things or tips but if anyone want to use this tricks i say " come on and let's rock ;) " couse they are work ;)
I like this vid! Congrats guys ;)
Great lesson... I have played for years but never tried drop D so gonna give it a go tonight, nice one mate
So, if you want to play an A maj in drop D, play a Dsus2 and move it around the fretboard. Really helpful, Rabea. Really. Thanks.
That's my favorite part of Drop D: Versatility. One-fingered caveman power chords and crazy stacked, extended voicings both fit comfortably in such a simple alternate tuning.
Thanks Rabea, I appreciate it. Very informative.
Awesome, very helpful and entertaining as always Rab! Thanks!
That second tip I've always thought of as the "Tool chord" because they use it very often. I use it constantly when I'm playing guitar.
Your videos are rad! Keep it up. I love these Chapman guitars. Superb instruments, they are!
Dude I love that guitar... got 1500 to get something new been playing a fender for like 15 years now (sameguitar) American strat... any good advice for my new guitar and budget?
Simple, but very effective... and well presented. Thanks!
Cool vid man. Can't wait to hear what you and Leo come up with live :)
Just fcking love that name !!
Nice tone in this vid. Not too saturated but enough grungy gain. Whats the signal chain and EQ settings?
Love the Dsus2 chord shape. I also look at it as stacking 2 power chords on top of one another, if you don't play the E string for the sus2 'colour'. e.g. at 5th fret it is GDGDG(mute top string) for a big sounding G5.
Nice vid. I never really messed much w drop d. This was helpful.
Duuuude!! That was really cool,I'm a newbie at metal and just learning about drop D... So thank you much brother..😎🤘🏻🤙🏻
Awesome video and thank you for sharing your tips💙💙💙
Rabea could you do a video or something explaining your stroking techniques on the first tip? I loved how that played. I've only been playing a couple of months and I'm a student of Musicisum and I'd love to learn how you were doing that. Thanks
That guitar + his playing = brutal sound.
Rabea is a monster player. Prolly my favorite on RUclips...
Rabae: plays random stuff
Me: *mind blown*
Attila Felföldi dude same!
magyarok mindenhol 😂
Me: reads comment
Also me: agrees with it
Rabea's the man !! What a badass guitar player !!
Very helpful. Could you please make one of these styles of videos on drop C# and drop C?
the concept is exactly the same just lower you do everything exactly the same as he says in this video but just in that tuning
Alex Rooney oh! I'm silly, I just realized looking at drop C and C# tunings that every other string is just moved down the same the low string is. Thanks!
Omg I thought your response was going to be that you were joking... been there before tho good luck playing dude
Same rules apply there, it just sounds cooler. Lol. Discovering new tunings is awesome man. Have fun dude, and happy riffing!!!
Great short useful tutorial. Thanks!

Thought it was a helpful video. I've never played in drop d , usually standard tuning . Might just try it👏👏👏👏
This really helped me as I always just down tuned the a string aswell, could you do a drop c version of this? Thanks.
Great Video! Thank you for the tips.
Good use of a teaching experience,Very Well DONE !!!l
Very cool. I have to try. Good explaination. Thanks.
Love this! Can you expand on this more? How about a few more techniques in drop d?
Proves what I thought. He has more talent in his index finger than I have in my entire body
Thx man. Love your teachings
Saw rabea clicked rabea listened to rabea amazed by rabea even tho I already know drop tunings. Now want rabaes tone and effects. Wanna incorporate that into my own personal music. Bro u gotta make a video of how to dial in your amp and using those effect pedals.
A Very Helpful Explanation, and Great Tone. Thanks
Hey Bea. It would be great to hear if you have any specific approaches when it comes to writing material on your baritone? Cheers for the great work.
