    This channel is so underrated! Maybe it's just me being a German, but I love the low key, to the point, unedited way these videos are. Even if the channels grows, please don't over edit the videos and diminish content quality, by meeting some RUclips standards.

    Great Video as always
    Next, try to put the Key-board streamer another place, so It is possible to see the commands. Now they are covered by your body..
    Thanks for sharing your experiences with all of us 🙂

    Hi JokeEngineeringhelp, first just to say thanks for all you do to popularise the amazing and wonderful free, opensource program that is FreeeCAD. I'm utterly blown away by how great it is and it certainly rivals top-drawer object modelling programs from only a few years back. That said, the workflow you show is very complicated for doing 3-D pips and it would be too difficult for me to use for that. I have used the "wire" (really polyline etc) tools from the Draft workbench which is simpler but relies totally on coordinates (bad from the intent pov). What's really needed is something like the 3D sketch from Alibre. I'd like it to be just an extension of the normal sketch with the ability to set points in different planes and connect with lines etc, maybe with autodetection of when a sketch becomes non-planar so as to permit autoselection of what tools can be used with it ? Do you agree ? Would be great to hear your view on what would be helpful for these kinds of workflows ?

    For the sake of completeness, I tried creating the whole project from scratch in 0.20.1. I still couldn't cut the runner extrusions (but Boolean Fragments worked fine). This time I had no problem padding the flange. I even was able to dress it up a bit with a few fillets. Before I added the fillets I tried adding bolt holes to the manifold, but the pipe profiles broke, probably a topographical naming issue. I may go back and see if I can get the bolt holes added, but regardless this was one fun project!

    11:14 you can continue a normal line with a multiline and it'll work the same way. Just start it at the end point of the line and press m untill you have the desired continuation.

    As at least one other person has stated, your webcam overlay is covering the key monitor which shows what key(s) you are using. Other than that, thanks for the informative video.

    A number of the shortcuts have a two letter combo. Angle is "k" then "a", for example. It's confusing but probably has a reason.

    Great video. I ran into a problem while trying to create the paths. I couldn't get the path to remain using the extrusion method after performing the cut. All that remained was one of the extrusions without the lines forming the path. I was using 0.22dev, so I tried again using 0.21.2 with the same result. I then tried using the Curves WB; this resulted in the first two paths forming correctly, but the 3rd and 4th pipes being incomplete, with gaps along the pipe and not connecting to the head. Again, same result in both versions. I even tried installing 0.20.1, which is the version you used in the video. Again, I could not get the paths created using either the Curves WB or the extrusion Cut method.
    Ultimately I found that I could get the path using the extrusion method, but instead of using a Cut I used a Boolean Fragment! Once I had a proper path the rest was smooth sailing...until I got to padding the flange. I've been unable to get that working. I've tried drawing it on a plane, no joy. But if I draw it on the collector base plate, it pads just fine.

    42:28 Is it possible to make the loft direction perpendicular to the start sketch? Now it looks like a "ruled surface", with sharp edges where the loft starts and ends, but sometimes a smooth transition is preferred. Is it even possible in FreeCAD somehow?

    I keep getting "fatal error when creating the pipe" when I create my pipes. I've tried creating them, following your steps and no luck. Some pipes work flawlessly and others simply refuse to. What are some reasons for getting that error?

    • @JokoEngineeringhelp
      @JokoEngineeringhelp  8 месяцев назад

      It's possible the radius of your path is smaller than the radius of the pipe you are sweeping. Can you determine if that is a factor? Perhaps temporarily shrink the sweep profile and see if that fixes it?

    I don't mean any offense, but I don't know if you really need the camera. Its kind of distracting, especially when it's covering the keyboard indicator and the chroma key isn't set right so there's this constant noise in the image.
