How To Keep Type 4 Hair Moisturized ALL WEEK | Simple and Cheap

- How to keep type 4 hair moisturized all week? That is the biggest question for many naturals to date. The best technique for me has been layering. As of this video, I was using the LOC method to moisturize my hair. Meaning, in a previous step I included oil before this cream application step. So far this method has worked for me, but I feel like experimenting to see if another technique or group of products will help me reach longer hair length goals. Again, this routine has worked for the past 10 years - even after my last big chop 3 1/2 years ago. But what’s the harm in exploring? I take your suggestions seriously, so I’ll be sure to keep you updated on any hair regimen changes that I do in the future. I’ve already began. :)

How often do you this moisture routine? When you’ve taken our you protective style! Your hair is beautiful it’s the closest texture to my partners I’ve found! Xx
Twice a week if needed, but usually life takes over and I do it once. A lot of it is feeling my hair and deciding if I need more water or more product. Sometimes simply spraying with water and retwisting is all my hair needs. I wash my hair two or three times a month now that my scalp is under control...Thank you! I’m happy to help. 💜
Subscribed!!!
Have you ever tried curlmix?
No I haven’t. Sorry!
Thank you! My daughter has 4c hair and I'm scared to manipulate it more than once a week but now that I see that you do this at least 2x a week and your hair is thriving gives me relief. I spritz her hair with water, put a leave in, and coat with coconut oil but the next day it'll look as if I put nothing in it!
The way I know someone's hair is 4c is when it looks like a really soft cloud...I love how 4c hair looks
☺️
My favorite hair type is 4C I wish I had it tbh
🧡
@Sassy Queen I literally have break downs doing my hair on wash day 😭
Same it’s just so pleasing to the eye and so bouncy. God has truly made all of His works well 💕
When spritzing your hair, using it warm water will penetrate the faster and beter😊
Excellent point!!
Thank you
WE 👏🏽 NEED 👏🏽 MORE 👏🏽 4C 👏🏽 RUclips 👏🏽 channels 👏🏽 like 👏🏽 this!!!
"Strictly for moisture..." I felt that! I have high dense, coarse curls. You wouldn't believe the amount of product I need to detangle my tresses with before styling.
Finally! A REAL 4c. Thank you for this video...Kindred Spirit!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
LaToya Ebony love youuu ur so happy and no fake accent you give me mom vibes..if u r a mom you’d be a great and understanding mom
Exactly!
Ur hair looks very full and healthy. Clearly you know what you’re doing!!! ✊🏾🔥
❤️ Thank you, love! I appreciate you leaving such a sweet comment.
Moisturised hair is beautiful, regardless of hair type!
Can I just say that I really appreciate you. You've been on RUclips for like over 7 years and I want to thank you for being here and sharing your hair/lifestyle videos with us. I feel like I'm far from understanding my natural hair but your videos have helped me. Much love
🥺 What a sweet thing to say...seriously. I’ve been making videos since 2010 and this is my third channel. No one has ever put it that way. You are so very welcome. Thank you. 🥰
@@LaToyaEbonyHair
I agree with her. You’re the reason I started a routine to grow my hair. It’s shoulder length now from a TWA in 2021.
No seriously, how do you have any thumbs down on this video?? RUclips needs to come up with a requirement that if you intentionally thumbs down a video, you need to enter an explanation. This video was so informational, I am SHOCKED😂.
😂😂😂 Thank you sweetie
Is anyone gonna point out how gentle she is with her hair? Ok just me then🤷🏽♀️.....love the way she does her hair.
❤️🙏🏾
I stopped doing the LOC method. I had been doing that for years but I started using hair grease as a sealant and my hair stays moisturize all week! I absolutely love it and it's been working so well for my hair.
It's always interesting to see what everyone's regimen is like.
Same here. The combination was to much product going onto my freshly cleansed hair.
I'm toying with the idea of using grease as my final step but not tried it yet!
Same. It was a waste product and time. Just curling cream and castor oil on mt scalp....my 4c is never dry.
🤔 Hair grease. Who knew? 🤷🏽♀️ 👍🏽
@@missmb4798 lol
Not sure if anyone has said this but your eye shape reminds me of Diana Ross or Michael or Janet. Very beautiful and soulful!
Oh wow 😳 Thank you! 🥰
Omg!!!I finally found a youtuber with hair texture like mine..... everything you said your hair does, mine does the same. Oooo and the tender middle......bless it Jesus 🙏🏾😁💯my goal is nipple length also lol. Right now it's at my chin😎🇬🇾💯
That tender spot! 😩 Yes, bless it!! 😂 So happy you found my channel! ❤️❤️
@@LaToyaEbonyHair I have the same issue with soreness in my crown! What is that about? Why?I don't get it!
@@valentined9536 Could it be because of top ponytails or buns? I used to have a tender crown but haven't lately. That's the only thing, I think, that I've been doing differently.
I 100% thought you were the actress from smart guy so I googled you only to realize that I was thinking of Essence Atkins. The resemblance is uncanny IMO.
Thank you Moya! I get that a lot. 🥰
Twins!!!!
I was really trying to remember her name! Spot on🙌🏾
I thought that was her too
Love the size of your twists. The longer my hair gets, I am noticing I try to twist bigger since my strands are thin and I have low to medium density hair, extremely fragile. I have had to come to terms time and time again that my hair responds better when left alone as much as possible.
Finally found someone who has my actual hair type lol! Automatically subbed. I find it so hard to find other 4c, fine strand, low density, low porosity hair people to get tips from.

Oh my goodness! How have I not encountered this beautiful smart quirky unique kindred of mine before! Come on RUclips!! Subscribing!

I love your calm yet jovial energy, you’re beautiful in so many different ways!
Best video that I've found so far. I can't wait to start this for my hair. Thank you girl.
This is a great video Latoya! Good to see you back
Fine hair girl checking in. 🙋🏾♀️. Thank you for this video. Hair is so dry and I am trying to rediscover what my hair wants. It’s great to see another natural with fine hair and long lengths. So many setbacks for me. You give me hope!
Latoya, you are gorgeous! I love 💕 the energy I get from your vlog. You should never stop smiling because not only is it contagious, but beautiful! Thanks for the content!
Loving your informative realness! Finally someone who talks about the fine, thinner than a thread 4 abc hair! I’ve worn my hair natural before RUclips had videos 😊🤪 and I continue to learn so much.
So relaxing and satisfying to watch. Thank you! 💜
This by far has been the best relatable natural hair video I've seen 👍
Thanks for renewing my love of my 4C hair in its most natural state by modeling it in every stage good, beautiful, stretchy, bouncy bad, broken edges, stiff and ugly (super 7 day old dry)...in all its glory in a fair, thorough and humorous way...so glad I discovered your channel. Now I can stop feeling as if I have to get my hair braided to have a style worthy of the office or any professional setting. I have worn my hair natural most of my life but never felt beautiful in the eyes of others so usually cover it up.
I'm so happy. I've found someone with my kind of hair.
🤗 #hairtwins
"I need to get my husband to come in and just pull my hair down for me." Don't we all. 🤣
LMAO SIS! Hilarious but true.
The way I saw this comment just as she said that had me SHOOK af
A while back a naturalista on a vid I was watching said find the person that has the hair closest to your hair and watch her. I have finally found you. What's up sis! Love the videos.
🥰🥰 finally found someone with my exact hair ... love it .. our hair is about the exact length . Jus my hair is thick .
thank you so much for these videos! I haven't found anyone on youtube who has phrased 4c fine hair the way you have. Thank you for talking about reality vs youtube video results! This has always been a frustrating topic!
Thank you so much for showing the areas you have breakage. I too have breakage in the front/ temple area of my hair. And thank you for saying that one night of a bad decision can lead to months of recovery. I will continue to be patient on my hair recovery journey. Great video through and through.
Always the best content here!!! Love 💕 going back checking these older videos out … my my your hair has grown so much and looks even more beautiful 😍
Love how detailed you are you explain things in a easy manner and I love it...I need more moisture so i will be doing this more often
This video is just what I needed in my life right now. Thanks.
I just found you two days ago. I’m learning a lot. I haven’t been to the salon since pre Covid.
Love this ! I learned a lot about how to really care for my hair to make it grow. ♥️
Omg it was so satisfying just watching you do that simple moisturizing routine🤞💕... I'm so use to most natural hair RUclipsrs using a million creams n butters to do a simple routine...
Xoxo
I honestly love keeping it simple. It’s works the absolute best for me. I really only try new things for experimentation. Lol! Thank you for watching and leaving a sweet comment. 💙
Girl , you're hilarious. Subscribed! I've been slipping on the moisture maintenance. I mist, do whatever oil treatments, and go to sleep lol. I need to get back to doing this more often with a little finger detangling. It makes wash day, or even a quick deep conditioning treatment easier.
All of the products you mentioned in this video...I have all of it! I had no idea how to use it! Thank you! Misting and twisting now! 😍😘
Those twists are so juicy. Nice to see you back on YT.
Thank you! I’m happy to be back 🤗
I have fine, thick hair, and as I'm *cough* getting older and getting greys (which seem to be more brittle!) the breakage struggle is real. I love your twists!
maybe try deep conditioning more often? idk 😅 good luck
Hello LaToya, I just came across one of your videos today. I quickly subscribed and searched until I came across this video. I have been searching for quite some time on how to moisturize my natural hair. I like what I see and hear in your video therefore I am going to give it a try. My hair needs moisture desperately!!! Thank you so much for the information!!!! Stay well!!!
💕💕💕
Loving your hair and your moisture routine. I do the same a few times a week and my hair is growing and retaining length like crazy
YAAAAASSS!! 👏🏾 Get that LENGTH! It’s so great because it’s so SIMPLE. I’m happy your hair is thriving in these streets. 💜
HEEEEEY 👋🏾 NOTIFICATION GANG! Okay, this video is a chill vibe. So grab a cup of ☕️ or watch while moisturizing your own hair.
SIDE NOTE: This is the routine that has drastically grown my hair after two big chops over the past 10 YEARS!! I’m actively experimenting with my hair regimen products/routine, so this video is not as much about the “products”, but the steps I’ve taken. I take your suggestions seriously, so I figured, why not try something new? I’ll definitely keep you updated on any regimen changes. 🎉 So excited so many new faces are here!!
I almost cried over how juicy your twists looked
Your hair is gorgeous 😍!!!!
yes girl! keeping this natural hair moisturized is a task! especially since i am washing it more often due to working at the hospital. I appreciate this! stay blessed!
Hospital? Wow, thank you for your service. ❤️

This helped so much 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽, Im really trying to embrace my hair texture more and your videos are so helpful and detailed
I’m so happy to help!!
When I returned natural, I used the LOC method but I noticed it didn't leave my hair moisturize for long. Then I switched to the LCO method and I must say it has really improved my moisture game. My hair retains moisture more than ever before. But I do well to seal my ends properly with my DIY hair butter and Oil. And my DIY leave in cobditiiner (flaxseed and Aloe vera ) has been great. I love your hair, it's so beautiful and healthy.
Thank you for leaving such a helpful comment. I’ve recently been experimenting with LCO method. Scientifically it makes more sense, but I’ve also seen great success with the LOC method too. I’ll keep you all updated.
Can I ask how do you make your leave in? I just start experimenting with flaxseed gel as a leave in and I love it so far but still trying to tweak it! Thanks in advance
Afroliciousmuna okezie what is LOC and LCO?
@@sonianasher LCO - Liquid (Usually water from a spray bottle), Cream/Conditioner (Leave in), and Oil (any oil of your choice).
LOC - Liquid, Oil and Cream/ Conditioner.
Afroliciousmuna okezie omg I literally decided to loc instead of loc today after washing and omg my hair felt great 😭 I was getting lied to by "logic"
This is great knowledge. Thanks for sharing your hair wisdom.
I'm watching this thinking 'why come' when I search for natural hair care, have I not found you?!! Like YT what are y'all doin over there??? Look. LOOK! This is the content I need. Great tips, amazing personality.

Oh my goodness girl. You are a breath of fresh air. I'm in El Paso....super duper dry out here. My 4 babies and I are trying to get it together out here.

I am watching this video to learn more about my hair. I have been natural for 6 years and my hair is not growing at all. But when you looked up and heard your neighbors... girl I felt that!! I just got new neighbors upstairs and the first few days..... I was ready to move out completely!!! They have calmed down ALOT since then!!
Hi Latoya... I really like your video... and I also love your humor/energy
Your voice is so soothing!
Excellent video, 🥰👍🏽your hair is absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for the tips. 🌿💜🌿
Enjoyed your presentation. Very informative.
I have no idea how your video popped up in a notification for me but I'm glad it did! My daughter has 4c hair and really dry scalp and I've searched high and low for a good shampoo for her. I will definitely try out the Nizoral shampoo you suggested!
Oh Nizoral has worked WONDERS for me. It’s drying to the hair, so have her deep condition too. I hope it works for her too!
Great content! Please do more of these.
I enjoyed watching your video. It is nice to know that the struggle is real and what things you can do. I have low porosity hair with multiple curl patterns...
Just started my journey since Covid19 and I'm looking forward to nice, long and healthy hair like yours. I did my very first Black Rice Water today and I'll be watching to see the outcome. Wish me luck🙏
I’m so annoyed that RUclips has been hiding you from me! New subbie!
❤️❤️❤️
Hey. I know very fine hair. It's the reason I went natural in 2007. I wish I had you n other ladies then. I know my hair would be on back of my knees. But I do have my very very fine hair to my collar bone. Take care Latoya!! Keep up the great video work.
You be there in no time. Just keep your patience and intention/actions on healthy hair and the length will come. I know you know this already. I’m excited for you! 🙌🏾
Wow! you've given me hope. I have super fine hair and I just gave up on length because after it grows to shoulder length it tangles so badly and breaks. Guess Ill try the nighttime moisture technique and see what happens. Thanks.
This is my routine as well. I think you have full hair. It's really healthy and pretty.
Love that you spray water on your hair, water is our hair best friend especially 4c type
Yes it is! 🙌🏾
I am on a hair journey. Two different textures and fine. You helped me. Thanks
I'm going to have to go back and see how you did that updo. That is everything, for ease as well as look and longevity!
I don’t have a tutorial yet. 🙈

Thanks for this vid. I'm also in the length and fullness retention.
I haven't watched hair videos in sooo long, it was so relaxing watching this. Relearned a lot #4cloud

10:25 my daughter has a whole head of very fine hair. 😢 I’ve learned that’s it’s best to detangle her hair while DRY, and with a good boar brush and THEN a comb. Brush, then comb to see if all the range are out. Fine hair is something else!
