Do this in evening, sit under dryer to finish. With enough products in your hair, it can take HOURS for your hair to dry which can lead to fungal infections and hair breakage at the roots... Mold and fungi love dark, moist places. Thick wet products in your hair close to your scalp sets up the perfect condition for them to grow... Sister locks... 😊
This is EXCELLENT advice!! I’m pinning it. I really wanted to air dry and I don’t own a sit under dryer, BUT I own a blow dryer and will use it next time. THANK YOU for taking the time to comment and share that!! 🤗
@@LaToyaEbonyHair no problem! I found this out the hard way when I developed MAJOR breakage at the crown of my head. Very itchy and brittle situation! Had to eventually cut that hair so it would be healthy and it's still not back at 100%... 😕
I went to Cancun last year and was in that water every day, I was not about to let my hair hold me back. I ended up cowashing my hair every day and using the As I Am leave in conditioner and some gel and that’s it. By end end of the week my curls were the healthier they’ve ever been. My routine was quick, simple and done every day due to necessity but it gave me a beautiful wonderful result.
If you have visibly (key word is visibly) defined curls with low manipulation, you're not 4c, though. In the video, the woman even said she's 4b/4c, but ONLY included 4c in the title. This is what we mean when we say people are 4c baiting. I and the woman in this video have the exact same hair type. I was thrown for a loop when someone told me I wasn't 4c, but now I understand. I need people to stop gaslighting actual 4c women into thinking THEY'RE the crazy ones, when they're the ones who live with the stigma of their hair texture and they're the ones turning to RUclips for help ONLY to be bombarded by women with 4b hair claiming they're 4c for clicks. Just stop.
mimi .. I think one or two of her strands is 4c..Majority of her head is 4b though. A lot of naturals pose with dry hair as 4c, but then the water hits their hair and the curls are relaxed and defined. 4c doesn’t behave like that.
I guess so her curls stand out so much but definately 4c. I have nice curls in most sections when wet but once dried nada. When I stretch though it’s tolerable and style or
I’m a wash n go “type 4” natural. I pretty much exclusively wear my hair wash and go styles. I’ve done this for years. Air drying will not provide the best result. Drying the hair quickly provides the best result and yields less shrinkage. I skip the raw oils and products with oil high on the ingredients list *gasp* I know. I use gel. Gel will set your natural curls and prevent the matting and tangling. My wash n go lasts 5-7 days. Tangling is not an issue. The more you wear wash n go styles the better they get. It’s like my hair is trained now.
Did this experiment for fun. It’s light and meant to make you smile. I’m going to add this disclaimer “in case” someone watching this gets the wrong idea. I LOVE my hair. I don’t see shrinkage, the hair pattern, the fact that it gets dry, or the maintenance I choose to do to it as “cons” to having natural hair. It’s just what it happens to do and I love it for that. I’ve learned what my hair likes to do and what it doesn’t like. I have a routine that works for me, so this was very different. I don’t do wash n gos normally because I don’t really care about coil definition. 4c hair isn’t hard to take care of for me, but it does create comedic moments when I try to do something new. P.S. I know the majority of you will get the humor. If you want to know my true thoughts about my hair watch a few of my videos. In particular, “Stop saying 4c hair is hard to manage”. Love ya’ll! Be safe out there, okay.
LaToya Ebony Thanks for sharing this experience. You should try the Anthony Dickey method. Wash n go needs a lot of water. I’ve you ever tried finger coils?
I love the message you put out here. Our hair is not hard to take care of and we can definitely have fun with it! I love how many 4c RUclipsrs are being honest with it and showcasing these images. So many girls and women need this ❤️
Prior to getting locs, Hallease did this experiment years ago on 4c hair with the Anthony Dickey method. Started with a week, then two, then a month, then a year. Those videos are super old but worth watching and convinced me to wash n go for a year after my big chop. It’s a great way to learn about your hair, how it responds to water and products. If you don’t wash n go often, it takes a while for your hair to get used to it (wet styling and products). And you’re right. Tangles come from time not the style itself. Many type 4 naturals let their wash n go sit for way too long. I never go longer than 3 days without co-washing. Plus, the same way you have to cut your bone straight hair to get it hang a certain way, you have cut your fro into a shape for a wash n go. And the best way to dry type 4 hair (and get the least amount of shrinkage) is with a bonnet dryer or diffuser. Unless you have tapered cut, it won’t air dry the right way. That’s one reason the Deva Cut got so popular. This was a fun video ❤️
Wow, I’ve never heard of the Dickey Method. Wet styling is so new too me, it’s like a whole new world! This was SO helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment. This is going to help so many subscribers too. THANK YOU, Denysha!! *hugs* I swear you all have been putting me on game.
When I was watching this I thought about Anthony Dickey Hair Rules method too. I have some Hair rules Kinky Curly and Quench conditioner I may try this with. There type 4 hair products always left my hair soo soft but is expensive.
I am literally on day 5 of wash n Gos, hoping to train my hair in a sense. My plan is yo do it everyday during this quarantine so that it will be properly moisturized for twist outs and other styles later. I am also following the Dickey Method and I have to say I already see a major difference. It literally takes 15 minutes on my 4b hair, and the shedding? Where?! It’s unbelievable how different my hair feels in such a short amount of time. I’m looking forward to keeping it up as long as I can! I do believe the trick is sopping wet hair in the shower as others have mentioned. I do think I need to get a diffuser as well. 🤔 Great video! Love your energy!
Anthony Dickey absolutely changed my life! 😅 I used to spend HOURS struggling through my hair and then I found his method and feel like I finally understand my hair and am giving it what it needs. I modify his method a bit - I prefer applying my styling product outside the shower - but my hair routine feels so much more natural now. I cowash every 2 days (and shampoo once a week or so) and it takes 30 minutes; 40 on the days I shampoo.
The term "wash n go" is definitely an oversimplification of what really is a "set and wait" style. I don't even do this on wet hair anymore. Once my hair is washed, I moisturize, seal, then let dry. The next day once my hair is no longer wet but moisturized I apply a styler to set my natural curl pattern. I mist my hair as needed to aid the styling product along the stands. I apply the product root to tip, separating sections into small pieces for higher definition. Adding oil helps with separation. Sometimes, I use a comb to help disperse the product but that interrupts my natural curl pattern. Once I've finished applying the styler I lean forward and shake my hair so the strands separate further, and my hair stops looking like a helmet. I shake a few more times while standing. Let dry. Don't touch because frizz. That is my process for a "wash n go" 😁
Katrina I do mostly all these steps too! I think it’s the best way to wash n go. Wash your hair, moisturize, come back when it’s dry and start applying your styler to small pieces for higher definition. Hair is basically dry by the time you finish your whole head...and I think it brings out definition more because the product can really cling to your strands versus all that water sliding it off
THIS was so crazy validating! I watched this and all I could say was, "this woman is me!" I've never seen a tutorial where I've seen my hair so clearly. Thank you.
I have never found someone who's hair type is this similar to my own. And girl, you were truly up for a challenge. When I heard you say a wash-n-go on type 4 hair! I was hooked!
Like I’ve said before, *4c wash n gos looks so chic* . Legit looks like an ad when it shrinks up and is pushed off of your face. But more than anything washngos are expensive! The amount of product I use 🥴 not economical.
Wetline Xtreme gel is about 3.99 for a 35oz tub and it works great for type 4 hair. I’ve been using it for years and I wear my hair almost exclusively in wash and gos.
I agreed, they do look chic! After 4 years of stretching my hair for volume and length I just recently started embracing and mastering my wash and go. For me no gels at all, just leave in's and oils yields a super soft fluffy coiled afro. An I have legit 4abc hair.
Your hair is so fluffy and pretty! I have 4c hair as well and I found that the mane choice gelato somehow dries my hair faster. After I wash my hair I keep it in a towel for about 30 minutes or an hour so it’s damp then I apply a really thick moisturizer then the gelato then the wet line gel and then I diffuse my hair until it’s dry and of course I sleep in a satin bonnet and my wash n go lasts for over a week. Like a week and a half. Tangles and shedding is no issue for me and my hair is pretty soft. I’m loving it lol
I'm proud of you, You are learning to know your hair, what it likes and don't like. I've been on a natural hair journey for almost 10 years after 6 1/2 years I finally fully learned my hair. My type hair is 3C and 4A your hair is Beautiful. God Bless
The way my 4C hair is set up, i've never done a wash and go and prolly never will cuz ain't nobody got tears and arm muscle for that lol. But who knows, maybe one day, maybe one day.
Girl, you ain't never lie! Your comment brought me life. Who has arm strength, time, and tears for the wash and go? If only the tears could hydrate the hair. Lol
A great tip is to moisturize and twists your hair at night. And then wet it separate and moisturize/ add styling products in the morning, one twist at a time. & then diffuse it with a blow dryer as you stretch it. It will define your curls & stretch your length at the same time. However WATER is key, like a lot of water. More water than your product, which will help distribute the product. I call that the “Wash & Stretch”
I also feel betrayed by youtube because you’ve been uploading yet you never popped up in my notifications 🧐 Anywho, I’ll follow your suggestions to make sure I get updates.
Giiiirrrrrl, you ain’t said nothing but a word! So many of you have left the same comment. RUclips chooses how many people see an initial post in the new algorithm. If people watch and engage with the video, they push us out to more subscribers. Comments and likes matter more than ever now. THANK YOU for turning on notifications! 🥰
When you started with the products out of the shower, I was like "Nooooo!" You apply products in the shower on soaking wet hair. Conditioner to moisturize and define and gel to lock in the coil. Shake out your coils. And most importantly DONT TOUCH! You can use a diffuser but air drying is great too. This is coming from a fellow 4c. Keep your hands out of your hair when its drying and see the difference in definition.
Haha!! I’ve seen it done so many ways. In terms of filming, it’s easier to be out of the shower, buuuuuut practicality wins. I feel you sis. Thanks for the tip!
I'm a hairstylist with 4b- 4c hair and I always hated wash n go's until I actually got educated on it.It was never easy to do,never fun and I never got the results I wanted. However, now when I actually got time I attempt them with way better results lol May I suggest when you do it the next time that you drench your hair first then add a gel/gelly or a foam with very little alcohol,it's done wonders for my coils and they last longer🙂. Anyway, amazing video and your hair is gorgeous!
Hey there👋🏽 yes, I love wash n gos in the warmer months. I have type 4a/b and I don't manipulate it daily...only once a week. Once you find the best products for your hair, you don't need to wash it daily. It needs to be done on soaking wet hair, (loc or lco method) add gel. Sit under dryer, band to stretch, then sprtiz with warm water and conditioner when it becomes dry. This will last me 7 days then I start over doing this weekly.
One of the 4c hair OG’s! I’m from the “whooo”/ “what’s up it’s Toyaboo!” days hahaha. Fun fact - I created my first RUclips channel just so I could comment on one of your videos. It’s SO good to see you back with more natural hair videos🎉
I love wash and gos on 4c hair and I love the fact that it looks different everytime. I love my wash and gos really shrunken and without much gel. I can't stand the excessively long dry time it takes when I use plenty of gel. Your hair is beautiful. 😍😍😍😍
Wash n gos on genuinely 4c hair ain’t worth it, the matting and tangles and wasting mounds and mounds of product....it ain’t for me... my hair doesn’t wash and go, and that’s totally ok...ill stick to puffs and fluffy twist outs, maintains the health of my tresses... entertaining video...
i love my wash n gos! i use them as a protective style for a week or more. i use wetline to keep the definition from the root to the ends, but first a creamy leave in and a thick oil or even grease beforehand. ive retained so much length the past six months even though my hair literally shrinks to a twa each time. it's very low manipulation for me and im sure for others as well. anyone reading, don't knock it til you find your combo ;)
@@frannypie. I agree! I'm type 4 and I only do wash and gos'. Custards work better than heavy gels for me. Kinky Curly Custard and Uncle Funky's Curly Magic are more concentrated and spreads easier throughout the hair than most gels in my opinion. An 8 oz container of Kinky Curly last me awhile, and I have a lot of dense, thick hair on my head.
It works on extremely tightly coiled dry hair and even makes it way more manageable the more you do it so long as you're doing the right method Wash n go isn't sitting there slapping products on it, it's wetting your hair, saturating with conditioner, shaking it out to how you want it to fall and drying or literally GOING Of course the first time will look like trash till you adapt your hair to the method
When I would do twist outs I had to wait two days for my hair to dry in twists. May hair does better without the use of hair dryers. To be able to wash, deep condition, and set my hair once a week in its natural pattern is a very low manipulation style. Botanical custards like Uncle Funky's Daughter curly magic and Kinky Curly Custard spread easier throughout the hair than heavy gels. They're also more concentrated and with lots of water you use less product. All I need through the week is my bonnet, and satin scrunchies to maintain my style at night. I've learned that wash and go's are a great way to moisture train your natural hair. More moisture, less tangles and more length retention.
Great video! You have beautiful coily hair. I'm a 4C with massive shrinkage too. I used to have very dry hair as well until I learned that with low porosity hair, adding the heavy butters and oils locks moisture in for the day but prevents new moisture from getting in. So, I don't use those anymore and may occasionally use olive oil, which keeps my hair moist for days. Deep treatments and steaming are game changers for improving moisture. Also using mousse first to stretch and define the hair, then follow up with any gel of your choice will give you a nice elongated defined wash and go. Good luck to you. We have to continue to share so we can learn from each other.
I don't like doing true wash n gos anymore because not only is the shrinkage disrespectful, but like you said the detangling session afterwards is HELL. I'm not a fan of letting my hair shrink to its full extent so if I want to wear it out I stick to stretched styles like braid-outs. Thanks for the experiment, it was fun to see!
Two words. Hair grease. Applied to wet hair, before products, preferably containing some waxy ingredients (like Dax) . Grease is your friend for moisture retention.
There is a salon @synergi salon that promotes daily washing. The owner Karen Gary posts videos weekly with tips and styling. I have tried daily washing but I didn't last more than a week myself. I understand it takes time, patience and appreciation of where you are.
I have the same texture hair that you have. Shrinkage about 75% if I leave it be. Yeah, the wash and go is not really wash and go. There is a lot of work appling all of the products etc. I don't have the patience to do twist outs etc so I'm a wash and go girl. I use leave in, oil to lock in moisture then a curl cream and gel. I found that Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie to be the best for curl definition, hydration and shine. Then I top that off with Eco Styling Gel. Then oil again after it dries to break the crunch. Wash and go is definitely a misnomer. My advise to you is don't be afraid to use more product and try the band method to stretch your hair at night. Your last 2 days were very cute. The fro is cute too if you want to go for that. Some days I just let mine be.
@@marymikel9193 if I wash my hair in twists it’ll still be dirty because of product that didn’t get reached properly. But I’m 3c / 4a and my hair doesn’t tangle because I’ve been finger detangling for years
@@jbb8261 That's Soo cool! Although I do love wash days and my hair may need more time to manage I still love it. Besides, I've thought that ladies with type 4 hair that can wash their hair not in Twists and air dry is like a super power. 😆 If I tried I'd likely regret every moment of it later.
Funny video, your facial expressions were dead on - lol. I went natural while living in Florida and it was the best thing I've ever done. It's been lot of trial and error including relying on butters and oils rather than moisture to condition my hair. My hair prefers water over products. But my second bestie would have to be conditioners, but you need pay attention to the ingredients - they are not all equal. I have some great for detangling before I wash my hair, some are protein infused, some have glycerin, and some have cleansing properties to help keep my scalp clean. A wash n go for me starts with dripping wet hair - I dont wring it out nor towel dry instead I step out the shower dry off my body and in that time any excess water in my hair has dried and Im ready to start styling. I set my hair with a syrup texture product to lock in the moisture and a gel or mousse to define my curls. In warm climates I can and love to wash n go everyday. Tip: section the hair into 2 or 3 sections using a puff cuff or elastic band small enough you dont have to double loop it and blow dry your roots or air dry for the first hour or so. Then after your roots are dry, more than not, take off the cuffs or elastic bands shake or pick out the parts lightly and air dry or diffuse the rest of the way. Living in Michigan now I wash n go once a week and refresh my hair with a braid or twist out week two then go back to full wash day starting week three. Maintaining natural curls and coils is a labor of love and experimentation❣
my hair always grows so much when i do this in the summer BUT the knots and tangles I get mean i lose all the growth anyway having to cut out tangles and knots over time.
Same I did my hair everyday in the shower and it grew so much now that it’s longer it gets tangled fairy knots and then split ends I don’t understand 🤦🏽♀️😞
I have seborrheic dermatitis so I use medicated shampoo (scalp only) every 3-4 days. The only way I survive shampooing every three days is keeping my hair in twists and detangling the sections each time. I never tackle my hair unsectioned lol. You are a SOLDIER for this lol.
4b-4c hair completely defines. There is no set system in this video. There’s no strategy for washing or conditioning or anything. If you section your hair and not clump product in it and try finding a system that works for your hair the process would be simple. I have 4b-4c hair and i wash and go frequently.
You are so real I really appreciate your sincerity This is exactly how my 4b/4c hair goes, after a wash and go...and I wonder, how the natural hair you tubers do it, theirs look so perfect
This video makes me realize how lazy I am. If I have to detangle for more than a few minutes, I'm ready to aggressively rip through my hair with the detangling comb.
I watched the first bit of the video and just went “omg the hair texture is just like mine 😃- yours is thicker but yeah same texture” very exciting for me and I totally got a kick out of that 😃😃...anyways, I have tried wash and go 3 days in a row and by the third day I was like nope. coz once the hair dried up, that was it 🤣🤣... thanks for sharing. I enjoyed this video wish they had a 5 thumbs up button 🥰🥰
I liked that you literally did a wash & go and not the RUclips "wash & go" until the end. I think I attempt it 3 or 4 times after the first section I was over it. I cant stand that much product in my hair to keep a definition. I like to wash my hair & twist it. After a day or so, I'll take the twist down and fluff it to a fro. If I let my hair air dry without twisting it, the next day it will be a dry shrunken mess.
I wash n go weekly, occasionally I do a midweek cowash when needed but it has taken me a many many months to find products that work and are hydrating and perfect my technique. I have very tightly coiled hair and I didn’t think I could do a wash n go but everything changed in my hair life when I found good products and omitted oils.
Monica Mitchell That’s all it takes is the right combination of products and everybody’s hair is different so you kinda have to figure that out for yourself.
OMG!!!! I loved this video!!!! The best washing go video that I have seen thus far!!! I go thru this all the time...if I let it air dry. If I sit under a dryer or use a diffuser...I get way better results!
I really like A love 4 me! She convinced me I could learn to do a successful wash and go on my type 4 hair. Its been over a year and I only do wash and gos' using a cream and Kinky Curly Custard. My hair now knows what to do and I don't have issues with a lot of tangles.
I thought I couldn't do these, but as soon as I stopped putting oils in my hair, they worked a lot better! I just wash and condition as normal, put in a leave-in and use a curl stimulator like Uncle Funky's Daughter. So much better. I also run my fingers through my hair with the curl stimulator instead of scrunching it in. Taking the oils out allows my hair to get really clean when I wash and condition, because the shampoo and conditioner doesn't have to fight through an oil barrier. And I think that helps my curls to be soft and fluffy instead of dry.
I wish someone taught me how to do/take care of me my hair growing up, I’m currently transitioning with type 4 hair and I’m already getting discouraged I have no idea what to do with it when it’s out of braids :(
I audibly screamed “NOOOO” when you started using the eco gel but then it turned out great and I was relieved😅lol. I loved you candor in this video. It’s inspired me to try the Wash n go on my type 4 hair. I gave up years ago when I first become natural(2012). Now I’ve learned to appreciate for hair for what is and what it can do. Wish me luck🤞🏾
Banding for me has been a Godsend😇. I’m a type 4 errrythang a, b, and c. I do wash n go’s during warmer months and when I get in a routine my hair gets used to it and it’s less time. But stretching it by doing a pineapple or banding really keeps my hair from getting matted. I also have to remember to keep my hands out of it so it lasts longer. I use a lot of what you used such as the As I Am and Kinky Curly but instead of ecostyler I use Camille Rose Curlmaker which I ❤️. And I always use a good oil to seal. Thanks for making good content 👍🏽’s up.
Camille Rose...I’ve heard about this brand more and more these days. I’m gonna have to make a product list of recommendations lol! My hair cabinet JUST got purged. 😂 I thought about banding, but I was concerned with taking them off without ruining the definition...🤔 I may have to jump in and give it a try then!
LaToya Ebony Girl the curlmaker and moisture milk are my forever in my stash from the Camille Rose line. I even use the curlmaker for braid outs. When I band I don’t do it tight so I keep a lot of definition and stretches my hair so it doesn’t tangle. Wash n go’s can be a beast with tangles🤦🏽♀️😇
I’m type 4, and I fell in love with wash and gos (out of the shower ones aka fake ones lol) I’ll do one and leave it in for a week. Refresh with water throughout the week as needed. I love it but the initial process of adding the gel and drying is really time consuming. Plus washing my hair is such a chore. Lovely video!!!!
finally a hair texture like my neice!!! thanks! ppl say they have 4c hair and it is not what i picture as dense 4c hair! been tryin to help her realize she can go natural !!
Your little one is such a cutie. My hair looks like yours, but it looks great on you! Maybe because your face is pretty...it looks horrible on me (when I try to do wash n gos). I think I will stick with twists.
I just watched this and can I just say OMG. I feel for you! I went through this when I started trying out wash n gos. My friends told me the key is to find two great products: leave in and a gel or curl activator, do your hair in the shower (soaking wet hair is key), and leave it alone for a week or two. The key is soaking wet hair and raking product through with your fingers. You can use a spray bottle daily to refresh the hair!
I did WNG every other day for a week. I co washed only. The detangling got easier with each wash, I assumed because my hair was well moisturized because of all the extra water. I used ecostyler also, but I layered a regular rinse out conditioner, olive oil, then the gel. My hair takes a long time to dry also, so I sat under a hooded dryer for about 30 minutes. It would be mostly dry. If I couldn’t let it air dry, I would blow dry with a diffuser to dry it completely. It wasn’t bad at all, I’m just not the biggest fan of super defined hair.
Your video is great because I can relate. I couldn't figure out who you remind me of as I look at your video and it came to me. Has anyone told you resemble Essence Atkins from Half & Half, Smart Guy and Girlfriends' Getaway.
You’ll only have to do this once per week if you did it how you did it with the gel, the “youtube wash and go” Its low manipulation and perfect for growth. As if gets older I just throw it in a puff until its time to wash again
Sweet heart the thicker the gel, the wetter the hair when applying, and the longer you rake to get smoothness the better ...wetline for men is better as it is thicker...i use a little scurl activator so its not so dry and i use a leavein too....to refresh on day 3 spritz with water and a lighter gel with no protein and a little grease on ends....you can do large loose twists at night to pin up after refreshing.....this works for me after 10 years trying to figure this out!!!!!
I used to wash and go all the time and loved it until my hair got to shoulder length and then it became impossible because of the single strand knots :-(
Do this in evening, sit under dryer to finish. With enough products in your hair, it can take HOURS for your hair to dry which can lead to fungal infections and hair breakage at the roots...
Mold and fungi love dark, moist places. Thick wet products in your hair close to your scalp sets up the perfect condition for them to grow...
Sister locks... 😊

it is so true that the moment people see a defined curl they automatically assume that your hair isn’t 4c. it’s so annoying.
That is how u define the hair types tho but how defined the curl is ...
@@TheJtoben right, it's literally the definition of curl typing.

It’s like my hair is trained now.
sheneesie You absolutely need gel and one that’s heavy enough to weigh down our hair!
What gel do you use?
nikandra76 Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Magic is my new favorite. Not crunchy or dry, but enough hold and moisture. It’s better than Wetline IMO.

LaToya Ebony girl you are so pretty to me. Loved watching you do this....I will not be attempting a wash and go lmao
So many girls and women need this ❤️
@@psr076 YES!!!! Anthony method I did it and it works 👍💯

Thank you for this comment. It’s refreshing to hear someone say they don’t consider it a chore taking care of their hair.
Great video! Love your energy!
BrokGirl Magic I’ve actually been eyeing the quench conditioner and cleansing cream...do you think they are worth the price?
Anthony Dickey absolutely changed my life! 😅 I used to spend HOURS struggling through my hair and then I found his method and feel like I finally understand my hair and am giving it what it needs. I modify his method a bit - I prefer applying my styling product outside the shower - but my hair routine feels so much more natural now. I cowash every 2 days (and shampoo once a week or so) and it takes 30 minutes; 40 on the days I shampoo.
I’ve tried wash and go about three times and they always turned into a “Wash and NOOOOO”. 😁
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I done with you!!
Check out Black Girls Curls channel and IG. Game changer. I found out real quick that I wasn’t using enough water or products in my wash & go.
It doesn't work for me either
SAME PREDICAMENT
I can so relate!!
"Why are you not giving me the life I deserve right now?!" Sad, funny, and true. I love your energy and honesty. Our hair is so worth it!
💯
That is my process for a "wash n go" 😁
It could be: on wash day, Gel and go for drying 👍
Katrina I do mostly all these steps too! I think it’s the best way to wash n go. Wash your hair, moisturize, come back when it’s dry and start applying your styler to small pieces for higher definition. Hair is basically dry by the time you finish your whole head...and I think it brings out definition more because the product can really cling to your strands versus all that water sliding it off
Undrea Martin might have to try this. Thanks for sharing.
I do this, too. It seems to last longer.
T Kay stylers are products like gels, curl creams, twisting creams/butters, and custards, designed primarily to define the hair or set a hair style.
THIS was so crazy validating! I watched this and all I could say was, "this woman is me!" I've never seen a tutorial where I've seen my hair so clearly. Thank you.
After I big chopped, I wore a wash n go everyday for a year. It made my 4a hair so soft. My hair grew like crazy and I retained the length.
YEEEEEESS! I completely forgot to mention how much PRODUCT I used. My GOODNESS!! 😩
I have an affordable wash n go routine
Wetline Xtreme gel is about 3.99 for a 35oz tub and it works great for type 4 hair. I’ve been using it for years and I wear my hair almost exclusively in wash and gos.
I agreed, they do look chic! After 4 years of stretching my hair for volume and length I just recently started embracing and mastering my wash and go. For me no gels at all, just leave in's and oils yields a super soft fluffy coiled afro. An I have legit 4abc hair.
@@ellegoddessessentials What is your routine?
Your hair is so fluffy and pretty! I have 4c hair as well and I found that the mane choice gelato somehow dries my hair faster. After I wash my hair I keep it in a towel for about 30 minutes or an hour so it’s damp then I apply a really thick moisturizer then the gelato then the wet line gel and then I diffuse my hair until it’s dry and of course I sleep in a satin bonnet and my wash n go lasts for over a week. Like a week and a half. Tangles and shedding is no issue for me and my hair is pretty soft. I’m loving it lol
What’s your routine ?
I'm proud of you, You are learning to know your hair, what it likes and don't like. I've been on a natural hair journey for almost 10 years
after 6 1/2 years I finally fully learned my hair. My type hair is 3C and 4A your hair is Beautiful. God Bless
2:43 soooo cute, wasn’t expecting him, but loved seeing him!😍👩🏽💻
🥰🥰
The way my 4C hair is set up, i've never done a wash and go and prolly never will cuz ain't nobody got tears and arm muscle for that lol. But who knows, maybe one day, maybe one day.
** deep belly laugh** I feel seen!
Right!!! Cracking up at "tears and arm muscles!"😂😂😂

To be perfectly honest, I’M still in disbelief. It’s so crazy how much can happen in such a short amount of time. Some days feel like a dream!

Ok but how is no one talking about that gorgeous cute baby!!!! That smile is everything 🥰🥰🥰 so cute!🤗😚
This is the realest wash and go I’ve EVER seen on RUclips! Thank you!!!
She looks like Essence Atkins.
Sounds a little like her too.
I was thinking the very same thing!😊😊👍
She really does 😍
I came here to say this.
Yea!!
When you started with the products out of the shower, I was like "Nooooo!"
You apply products in the shower on soaking wet hair.
What conditioner and gel u use?
Girl mine was a disaster until I started doing it in the shower. I also used less product
Exactly i was like WHAT NO not even my 3c 4a hair could cope with that method lol
Thanks for pointing out that 4C has a pattern
Your production and editing skills are amazing girl.
Aww thank you Celeste! *hugs*
I love your wash n gos! You give me hope that 4c hair can be just worn as it is/unstretched too. Yay options!
Coconut oil makes my hair feel dry. Try leaving the coconut oil out.
Ossie R I agree. I had to find other oils that work better. Jamaican Black Caster Oil, olive oil, grape seed oil all work well.
grease
That's because coconut oil isn't a moisturiser, it's a sealant
Same! However for some odd reason it works great as a pre poo for me
Coconut oil is a waaaste of time 💯
i’ve been watching you for years! i remember when you texturized your hair! it is looking so beautiful and healthy now. loved this video🥰
LOL.... I don't mean to laugh but this is super funny. Your baby is soooo cute! Sheryl and Zoe are to funny....love it!
Girl, laugh away!! I laugh at myself all the time. 😂😂
so happy to see someone wth my exact hair type!
This video was everything. The 4c life is a vivid one. Full of twists and turns. Glad you tried something different & saw the fun in it ❤️
I’m thrilled to see how much traction this video got. I loved watching your channel evolve! You deserve🖤
Your hair is so thick, full and lovely!
wow wow the energy in the beginning of this video is giving me life
Your hair looks amazing 💙💙❤️❤️🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Awww thank you hun!
4c Hair is soooo beautiful yet UNDERRATED💕💕💕
Agreed!!
Very much agreed.
The tighter the curl pattern the more hydration you need daily. Watch Anthony Dickey Hair Rules videos
you are honestly my favourite natural hair youtuber. so real!!
One of the 4c hair OG’s! I’m from the “whooo”/ “what’s up it’s Toyaboo!” days hahaha. Fun fact - I created my first RUclips channel just so I could comment on one of your videos. It’s SO good to see you back with more natural hair videos🎉
HEEEEY!!! 👋🏾 I’m so glad you came back to check in with me. I used to love that little “whooo” 😂 Those were the good ol days.
Agreed. Like why put all those chemicals in hair. Then ot gets tangled I don't like my hair out
@@frannypie.
Preach! TRUE 4c hair, not type 4, 4c does not wash and go! It’ll be sooooo dry and brittle!!
It works on extremely tightly coiled dry hair and even makes it way more manageable the more you do it so long as you're doing the right method
Wash n go isn't sitting there slapping products on it, it's wetting your hair, saturating with conditioner, shaking it out to how you want it to fall and drying or literally GOING
Of course the first time will look like trash till you adapt your hair to the method
Grease is your friend for moisture retention.
ptt218 that depends on your porosity. this DOES NOT work for everyone. especially on low porosity hair. if i did this, my hair would be so dry
I just started to use blue magic grease and so far I like it
Grease also helps prevents tangles
The two main ingredients in Dax is petroleum (a silicone) and paraffinum liquidum (mineral oil)
Exactly, I use Vaseline after putting my leave in. Amazing
This was fun to watch, and you rocked every single hair from Day 1 to 7.
I’ve accepted that I can’t air dry without stretching or I’ll be lopsided and tangled AF!
Lol I know right?! Like idk how some girls can wash their hair not in twists and let it air dry. My hair has to be stretched 💯% of the time.
Best youtuber for my hair type ever!!! 😍😍
This is exactly what I went through and needed!
Your lipstick in the last shot is so pretty!
my hair always grows so much when i do this in the summer BUT the knots and tangles I get mean i lose all the growth anyway having to cut out tangles and knots over time.
🤦🏾♀️ Ugh...I can imagine....
Speak the facts sis
Same here
Same I did my hair everyday in the shower and it grew so much now that it’s longer it gets tangled fairy knots and then split ends I don’t understand 🤦🏽♀️😞
I found my texture twin, finally! So happy to have found your channel!!
I do wash and goes three times a week. The more you do them the easier they get.
You are so real
I really appreciate your sincerity
This is exactly how my 4b/4c hair goes, after a wash and go...and I wonder, how the natural hair you tubers do it, theirs look so perfect
This video makes me realize how lazy I am. If I have to detangle for more than a few minutes, I'm ready to aggressively rip through my hair with the detangling comb.
I loved the video because it's so realistic; with no trials to romanticize the challenges we face in this type of hair....love it
3:43 OH- AND I THOUGHT THAT I HAD SHRINKAGE NEVER MINDDDDD😭😭
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Sees you for the 1st time. Subscribes 49 seconds in. I STAN a well spoken RUclipsr!
Why don’t you use oils?
I’m curious as to the oils as well.
OMG!!!! I loved this video!!!! The best washing go video that I have seen thus far!!! I go thru this all the time...if I let it air dry. If I sit under a dryer or use a diffuser...I get way better results!
Do you normally use coconut oil? In my experience when I coated my hair with coconut oil it left that drying feeling the next day!!
Oils typically do not add moisture, that is probably why it is dry. You need a cream.
You have such a wonderful personality!! I truly love it! 😃🥰
🥰🥰🥰
You should watch a love 4 me shes type 4 and she wng all the time and uses minimal product enjoyed this video
Achia is great for type 4 WnGs tips!
Oh wow, that’s an interesting assessment. Thank you for sharing. That’s really cool.
I wish someone taught me how to do/take care of me my hair growing up, I’m currently transitioning with type 4 hair and I’m already getting discouraged I have no idea what to do with it when it’s out of braids :(
You got this!
It gets better with time trust me ❤️
Girl hang in there. Cause when you're finished transitioning you're going to dominate! Yah bless you to know him.
Your last wash & go turned out so cuteeeeeee
Y’all see Mowrey sisters, I see RUclips’s Monroe sisters. LaToya could be an additional sister, for real.
I'm less than halfway in and I'm already getting anxiety.
finally a hair texture like my neice!!! thanks! ppl say they have 4c hair and it is not what i picture as dense 4c hair! been tryin to help her realize she can go natural !!
She can definitely go natural! That’s the first thing people with kinky hair say to me. It’s possible!!
Your little one is such a cutie.
My hair looks like yours, but it looks great on you! Maybe because your face is pretty...it looks horrible on me (when I try to do wash n gos). I think I will stick with twists.
You have a very awesome sense of humor.
Anyone else thinks she sounds a bit like Essence Atkins... the actress?🙂
RK Yes and looks like her.
Thank you so much for this video! Your thoughts are EXACTLY what I think when I’m doing my daughter’s hair. 😆 You’re beautiful, BTW! ❤️
I am a wash and go every 2 days during this quarantine, but I just use shampoo once a week . I wash my 4c hair with conditioning
Thankfully I’ve now mastered my wash and go. I love doing them now!
@@LaToyaEbonyHair yay!!!!!!!!!
Latoya applying Eco: how much am I supposed to put on?
Me applying Eco: uses a quarter of the tub
Awww that little ball of cuteness!
I love your hair is so cute
Thank you hun. And thank you for leaving such a sweet comment.

Finally someone with the same hair as me! I am so glad to find your channel!
You’ll only have to do this once per week if you did it how you did it with the gel, the “youtube wash and go” Its low manipulation and perfect for growth. As if gets older I just throw it in a puff until its time to wash again
Also sit under the dryer
Good advice. I’ve just had to fluff it these last two days. It’s really easy...I don’t like how the gel makes it feel, though. 😒
yess! ! awsome video for us 4c naturals!! love it. thanks for sharing, stay blessed!
Yaaaasssss!! #blessednotstressed hunny! 🙌🏾🙌🏾
"Sorry if your name is Sheryl" 😂 Hilarious
Sweet heart the thicker the gel, the wetter the hair when applying, and the longer you rake to get smoothness the better ...wetline for men is better as it is thicker...i use a little scurl activator so its not so dry and i use a leavein too....to refresh on day 3 spritz with water and a lighter gel with no protein and a little grease on ends....you can do large loose twists at night to pin up after refreshing.....this works for me after 10 years trying to figure this out!!!!!
I used to wash and go all the time and loved it until my hair got to shoulder length and then it became impossible because of the single strand knots :-(
😩 I hate single strand knots!! I can’t escape them. It’s amazing what our hair does all by itself. Smh lol
The shrinkage was so significant. I love seeing this representation on my home page
