Quite a few good one this year :) Some old, some new, all awesome! (in no particular order)
    1. Hillbilly by Eric Powell - epic story set in Appalachian Mountains. Some good humour (not as crazy as in Goon), great writing and very cool main protagonist
    2. Carbone & Silicium by Mathieu Bablet - one of the best books I've red in a while. A beautiful story about love (both parental and romantic), hard choices and human condition. It also tackles the issue of what's important in life and how it might be different for each of us. A stunning book!
    3. Batman Dark Victory by Tim Sale and Jeph Loeb - one of the best crime-noir stories ever :)
    4. Lobster Johnson Omnibus v1 by Mike Mignola john Arcudi, Sebastián Fiumar and more. A great pulp story, classic yet captivating. Awesome read!
    5. Dungeon series (v 3 & 4) by by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim - best European fantasy / pastiche of some well known fantasy tropes. A must read for all nerds :)
    6. In the mountains of madness - a Lovecraft story adapted by the great manga artist Tanabe Gou. It's beautiful, it's scary, it's a great adaptation!
    7. Gideon Falls Omnibus by Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino. Very good horror story, creepy and and crazy. Very well written with great art to support the story. Basically Twin Peaks but more gruesome.
    8. Head Lopper series by Andrew MacLean and Mike Spicer - fantasy pulp with great action and surprisingly deep, emotional moments. Bloody and awesome!
    9. Slaughterhouse-five by Albert Monteys, Ryan North. It's Kurt Vonnegut in a form of graphic novel. One of the greatest book ever written meets a new medium. And it works like a charm! What a great read!
    10. Baltimore omnibus 1&2 - by Mike Mignola & Christopher Golden (Authors) and Ben Stenbeck, Dave Stewart, Clem Robins (Illustrators) - a dark, gritty, bloody, grim vampire-hunting story.

I sing the praise of “Barbaric” ALL THE TIME!!! It’s a book I accidentally fell into (I like Conan and Wolverine and I looked at the cover and said ‘oh so they made LO-NAN huh?😂😂😂😂) and once I did I was hooked. Barbaric when I first started with it, I felt like this guy did with murder falcon (what’s this stupid shit? This is crazy. Really, a talking blood drinking axe is the best thing they could come up with?!) and I just kept with it. Once I was six pages in I was laughing and slightly amused. This reminded me of dark horse’s mask, Conan and Wolverine (ironically), deadpool and Howard the duck (that damn axe, boy!! He’s funnier than deadpool by himself!) and oddly enough bram stokers Dracula (however not for the blood drinking thing but the tragic curse and consequences aspect. You’re going to have to read it to understand what I mean.). By the time I got through the first issue I was like “I need EVERYTHING barbaric!”. I bought two first print issue ones, the hardcover, all the second series that just released this fall (the final issue of the second arc hit in October or early November I believe), both one shots that released and am waiting for the second arc hardcover to come out in February I think. This is a DAMN AMAZING series that on paper, reading a synopsis, is no way you could believe it would work. It sounds too crazy and it’s elements that don’t seem to be plausible UNLESS YOU ACTUALLY READ IT because you just can’t conceptualize the functioning of them (for example the curse that surrounds the main character and that axe. It’s unexplainable to actually conceptually grasp without being in the setting and context of the story). Regardless, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!! It is a contender for best of 2022 and if it’s not nominated for that then definitely best new series for 2022 because it is totally underrated and equally as amazing at the same time. Pick it up!!!!
