"48 Hour Film-Fest" Entry

- My entry for a film festival where everything had to be made within 48 hours. Every person who entered was given a theme and an object as prompts- I was given the theme 'unseen forces are hard at work', and the object 'a globe of the world'. Then I didn't sleep for 2 days, and this thing happened.

@@dsmiletheyrewatching3520 i think the message is deeper than that. it surely contains it, but as a god loosing your ability to influence the world (cutting the fingers) the creature stays alone on the planet. with no means to survive, it just let his life slim away from his body after having stuck himself in a closed reality (The TV) wich presents a fake idealization of what violence and morality are- this is so deep on so many levels.
I only ever see this as: Never bite the hand that feeds you.

You just gotta work your way up there. Start by not making a drawing in two days, then try to not make two drawings, then three. Pretty soon, you haven't made a whole animation!
He was following themes that was given to him, it’s not exactly supposed to represent anything specifically. A lot of people here are going to grow up to be overthinking English teachers.

Felix, you've become one of my very favorite animators and, more importantly, storytellers ever since I saw Double King. I'm always on the lookout for a new piece from you. Well done!
I remember watching all of these on new grounds. The nostalgia is crazy
Oh fun, it's like a theatre thing I used to be involved in where we made plays in 24 hours! Every writer is given an opening line, setting, an object, and a specific number of actors and actresses. Then they had 12 hours to write their plays, then the plays had to be produced in the remaining 12 hours. I love these kinds of challenges; they're super exhausting but somehow exhilarating.
It took me a few replays but I got it. The hand was the "unseen force at work". The creature was fed and given shelter by it. Once the creature saw the hand, he panicked and cut his fingers off. The creature died of starvation because he could not live without the hand's help. Very nice animation, one of my favorites :D

Holy moly. What a powerful image of man’s relationship with God. That’s incredible. We are given good gifts, but we seek for more. We destroy God in our lives and turn to our own man-made pleasures, like television in this film, but those pleasures do nothing more than kill us happily. If we would keep God at the center of our lives and honor him for our good gifts, we will live more enriching lives and ultimately feel fulfilled. For us, satisfying our bellies is too tempting. We do not seek to satisfy our hearts.
It’s very lovcraftion with when the creature sees its creator it becomes frightened. To that creature nothing could ever be that big.

I'd much rather say it is nature. All the conditions that made us, as the human kind, successful. Nature and our entire environment which we now pollute and destroy, eventually resulting in our downfall.

i think i sort of have my own interpretation of it now. i thought this was a mix between christian and normal evolution. the creature was created by an almighty being and evolved with it's help. to the point where it became powerful enough to destroy anything in it's wake, including it's creator. because of this, it also slowly destroyed itself.

Was this part of our Sci-Fi London 48 Hour film challenge. It sounds very much like it and we do have a very large participation list. I volunteer and cover it for the past few years. But I don't think I went back to this one though. Looks good
