Another tip I learned before: "Instead of using bow and arrows when hunting birds, use harpoons instead to save resources."
Ohh that's a great idea, I'll have to give it a go!
Spear works as well for early game but tbh wood arrows are very cheap and much easier to use
@@alessioHD I found a huge problem with Valheim. First of all , once you understand the game, then the game loop is really off putting.
The gameplay loop is really simple:
farm resources, build base, farm more resources, than once strong with current gear from the bio, start looking for boss ( this alone can take huge time if you are not lucky, sail to different islands with boat BUILD A BASE AGAIN once you tuch land.
AND PORTALS dont help much at all, because you cant transport ORE, so you have to build on every ORE farming location a smelter, forge etc.... then once the location is empty from ore, make the items you can ( with upgrades ) then destroy the stations and move on.....
( *how f tedious and annoying is that mechanic my god* )
basically on every new farming location , in MID and LATE game, you need almost to build a full base with defences etc... and you need to do it BEFORE you even know if this new land is a good farming location or not, because you can't see the whole island .
( *how f tedious and annoying is that mechanic my god* )
_________________________________________________________________________
I just stopped and started to use FLY command and SPAWN items. Its the same thing only faster.
Yes i can go out and farm for 200 wood or 200 Iron or 200 Silver or just i spawn it in, and save huge time in real life. Dahhh
Same with trying to find a boss location. Why move around with a boat and on foot if i can use FLY and do it much faster.
__________________________________________________________________________
How to fix.
Later in game once you kill let's say 2 bosses you should be able to build a device that lets you send out crows or something that can look for boss area or specific runes for you for boss location.
( saving you the time that you don't have to go look yourself and sail around aimlessly like a moron )
That way you still have to go to the rune that the crow finds, but you don't go around randomly like it is now.
About ORE and new BASES that you need in every farming location.
How about You Can transport Ore with Portals , but in order to do that the new ORE you get has to be in your base in a chest for 3 or 5 days and then you can transport it.
Building a new base in every location or even a protal, the problem is that once you move in more dangerous , areas as soon you start to chop wood or use a pickaxe, the monsters from that bio start to come at you, making it hard for you to farm.
Its all fine and good in early game, but late game this can instantly kill you with wolfs,, stone golems etc.... how about when you work at day time then monsters dont come attacking you as soon you make noice if you are not in their vision or agro radius.
I noticed that as soon i start to build, chopping wood , using pickaxe then the monsters just come running from random locations.....so annoying . *They just SPAWN IN.* *How is that fair???* But i should not spawn in items???
Thats why i started to spawn in items... its faster .. and if the monsters keep spawning in, then why should i not spoawn in items???
The game should have an item or something that you can put on ground that gives you 3 or 5 days peace from mosnters at day time... this would be used in new locations where you build a base.
OR once i kill monsters from lets say 100 meter or 50 meter radius , then they stop spawning in randomly at day time. At least 24 H needs to pass before new monsters show up in that 100 or 50 meter radius, and they dont show up all at once, they show up sloely.
THIS WOULD BE ALSO A FIX. So the player can build a new base in relative peace.
__________________________________________________
Those are the fixes.
After second boss you can build device that send out crows ( or what ever ) to find the next boss location for you, or the runes at least...... and then a method for ORE transportation and base building in more dangerous areas.
As the game is now, i just keep using commands to save time in real life.
ohh one more thing..... FOOD EFFECT TIME is too short. considering the ingredients you have to get for some foods and they only last for 20 min or 25 min...... nah thats too short ..... i also spawn in food.... f that i have to do all the work for 3 ingredients for a food and then it only lasts 25 min.... f that .... i just spawn it..
Make combined food last 1 H or 2 H then i am willing to not use commands for it. Then it actually has value and matters.
@@tanelviil9149 It sounds like maybe you'd prefer a different game, which is fair. There's also a huge modding community out there and mods that exist to cover most of what your concerns are.
@@tanelviil9149no way you’re a real person 💀
I really appreciate keeping it spoiler free, this game deserves a blind playthru but I still can't help but look up tip videos! Awesome content.
Yea, I’ve been trying to do the same. Im in the Black Forest now, have a full set of troll armor, and just started to find random fish on the shoreline, which got me thinking “ how can I get more of these, without a fishing rod?”
And... here I am, browsing through tips videos. Lol
100% agreed! The tip about pickaxes doing more damage below you as opposed to in front of you confirms this line of thought!
What a waste of time to not know these kinds of things 😂👌
One thing I've noticed with tip #1 is that the damage you deal to the trees is halved between them. You'll be doing 10-15 to one, but 4-7 to two.
Whilst it's more efficient for cutting the tree down you still get double experience for the woodcutting skill.
Which as long as the total damage is the same, should be more efficient as it will reduce overkill. If a tree needs 3 swings to be brought down, but if you can fell 2 trees in 5 swings, it saved time.
I have noticed with more playtime that especially with later axes, it almost seems like the difference in damage is less. I guess it's not a bad tip!
Thats why the secondary axe attack exists. It does double damage to all targets.
that offset is reduced as your woodcutting skill goes up too
I have over 300 hours on this game, and I still learned something new. Great video!
Glad to hear and thank you for the comment!
Wow, a legitimately good Valheim video that isn't focused on a build. Well done Friend.
Haha appreciate it!
Tip: Wood arrows are the best for hunting, since as long as you have been upgrading your bow, they will do more than enough damage to creatures you are trying to hunt for food, such as deer or boars. This is also best for seagulls. It prevents you from wasting harder to make arrows that require minerals and feathers to craft and allows you to save those for actual battle against monsters. Flaming arrows remain effective much longer than you would think, especially against enemies like greydwarves that are flammable or weak to fire.
That's fantastic advice, I'd be lying if I said I haven't wasted higher tier arrows in the Meadows!
Flaming arrows are useful for drakes in the mountain also and to a degree for tar so yes they are not to be forgotten :)
The pickaxe to climb the mountain trick is insanely genius, definitly gonna use it.
The shift command for boat or hoe and the workbench radius for spawns are great tips to know and hard to discover.
Torches and fires will also stop spawns if you don't want benches all over the place.
instead use the Hoe to climb hills.
you does not slow down when you use the Hoe and create a much wider space to stand on
@@xxkingroggerxx dont you need a workbench to use the hoe ? That's the annoying part for me
@@xxkingroggerxx The hoe is so great for swamps and mountains.
You can use the hoe in the same way to climb hills just way more efficiently.
Insane woodcutting tip: axes have a secondary attack that does double damage. I usually use it when a tree begins to fall down, it does damage to both the tree and stump.
A tip I learned is on the black forest areas, go to the coast lines and build walls along the coast, then go to the top of the mountain and chop trees that fall and roll down taking others with them as they land and rest at the bottom. It helps clear land away to exposed copper nodes to mine and you can setup right on the coast for easy transport.
Even for older players theres something you can learn, thanks for the tips.
I learnt:
1. Holding Shift to put a boat on land.
2. Jumping off the boat to dock
3. Disabling the hud
4. Friendly fire to kill tamed animals
Hey that's awesome to hear dude. glad you got something out of it!
Once you have a Karve, sail around the coastlines to find the Merchant super easy. He has a massive discover radius. Also, have 1 unbound portal and bring mats for another so you can have an emergency portal.
Serpent scales sink, meat floats. You can sit next to a fire for 1 comfort to get 8min of rested, and you can build fires in dungeons.
That's all I have to add for more intermediate stuff 😁
Oh yeah I remembered another. You don't need a workbench to use a hoe. It can save a ton of frustration to bring one with you to level ground especially when pulling a cart.
Speaking of the cart, Valheim has mass. The more weight the cart has, the harder it is to pull.
Gosh it's all flooding back to me. Here's one about animals, mostly deer:
Deer can "smell" you. Sneaking up to them is much easier if the wind isn't blowing from you to the deer. If you do scare one off, they will run back to their original spot. Just hide nearby and wait a little bit.
Chasing/finding deer can be a huge asspain when you first start off. Spear or special attack with the dagger works really well until you can get the bow.
in dungeons you actually get 10m of rested because you’re inside and sheltered
@@sophieirisviel4100 Yes. Very helpful in the Swamps.
A really good informative video. After 1200 hours in Valheim only shift-hoe was new to me (because I do not use hoe much), but for new players this is really helpful without revealing too much of the game.
Just started this game, and it's really awesome! I am definitely going to try that workbench tip!
Sounds great! Good luck on your journey!
when splitting items you can use number keys say a stack of 50 onions you want 16 instead of the slider just hit 1 then 6
That's great to know, can't believe I hadn't tried that. Thank you for the comment!
Great video for beginners and I even learned something new with all my time on the game!
Haha awesome to hear, thank you!
Over 500hrs in Valheim, did not know about secret chests in dragur villages. Great video for new players!
Thank you, glad to hear you were still able to find something new!
Some of these tips are common knowledge but a lot of these things I genuinely didn't know about/never thought of. Thankyou for this video it will surely help in the future.
You're welcome, glad to hear it helped!
This game has been in my backlog for MONTHS! I'm diving in this weekend! Can't wait!
Hahaha good luck on your journey!
You didn’t mention it in the video but that design to be able to cook and craft was gold thank you lol
Extremely useful
I have 250 hrs played and the shift while using the hoe or hammer is something new to me
Happy to hear you still learned something!
ur helping me a lot dude thanks
I got 5 full playthroughs and 800+ hours on valheim. I didnt really learn anything new (expect the draugr villages but never have found a throne or such)
Regardless this is an amazing video. Short, concise and well informing! Keep it up ^-^
Hey, I appreciate the comment Umbrageous, cheers dude!
6:48 Boar: "I fully accept this."
This list is so good. And staight to the points.
Great tips, itching to come back after the Mistlands expansion. Just have to decide if I'm starting over or trying to remember everything from my last play through.
Thank you! And yeah I've been in that situation myself! Either way, good luck on your adventures!
Wana know a usefull tip?
2h axe you craft from stone golems (or crystals you find in cave) is realy good for woodcutting in black forest as the attack will also murder any graydwarfs that come near you. (do not waste iron on other one)
Blocking stat also matters on the HP food. The more hp you have, the easier time you will have with blocking even with wooden shield (tho seriosly dont use wooden and replace as fast as you can)
In multiplayer is a good idea to give each player a role they are best at (and also food that benefits them).
For example, a archer character can run 3x stamina food, a rouge character can run 1 stamina 1 mix 1 hp, a berserker can run 1 hp 2 stamina and tank runs 3x hp.
thanks for the help taught me afew things i never thought of
My pleasure, glad it helped out!
@bow aiming tip. It's not "up and to the right". The wind can effect the direction the arrow flies. The proper aimstyle is up + (straight, left, or right) based on the wind direction and intensity.
How do you know the direction? (Noob here, I played 1 time so far)
@@chimoji608 You can see the wind direction arrow on your minimap (lower left corner). Wind direction is very important when you start sailing, but I am really not sure wether and how much it affects your shooting. I admit that I never tried to test that, but I also never had any difficulties to shoot anything just aiming a bit above and to the right regardless of the wind direction. Probably (that's my guess) wind may affect the first, crude bow, which is very weak (I used it only for a short time when I was a noob too, so not much experience with that). For later bows, I think, wind direction is quite indifferent even if it really does slightly alter the arrow's course.
@@Vasilio1000 awesome, thnx 👍
My big revelation was that the spear is better for hunting deer than bow, at least on low level. Deals more damage when thrown, and if you miss and startle the deer, you can still catch up to it and throw the spear again at point blank without losing speed.
Another tip, in whatever rare case it might help, (1) is that the chests and some of the other items act as shelter, if you are limited on resources or space in a minimalist situation and need a lot of storage, or want to somehow create a hidden chest structure in the ceiling. ... (2) If you know how to stack the chests, they can also be configured as a chimney ... It's been about 9 months since i've played the game, so i can't promise that any of this still works.
That's really interesting, I'll have to give it a go! Thanks for sharing!
omg the harpoon thing are tamed animals is genius! also did you know you can drag the sea snake or whatever its called onto shore with the harpoon and kill it? this way you don't lose out on getting the materials
Ah yes, that would be another great tip to include!
Muy buen video para los que van a empezar, no contiene spoilers. Agradecerán verlo quienes quieran iniciarse en el juego.
The terrain wall one was really helpful!
Glad I could help!
I thought I read somewhere that the terrain wall method was nerfed. I seem to be plagued with the “Ground is Shaking” regularly at my base. I can not tell you the number of wolves and bore I’ve lost to those Trolls. For some reason they have proven to be my nemesis in this game so far. They are able to reach through my wood pickets and kill everything. Guess I’ll continue my moat and terrain fortifications in hopes of stopping them. Thanks for the video! Nice to see newer ones.
Terrain wall, combined with a moat wide enough (some 6 or 7 game meters together with the wall) can stop all damage to any structure inside the wall. This will not, however, prevent flying enemies from getting inside your base (those are drakes and bats).
Building on an island can stop any enemy spawning around you, if you block the entire island with campfires, working stations etc. Raid events still will happen, but no spawns, as there is no spawning above water. Shallow waters can still be tricky - sometimes they look like water, but actually taken as ground by the game engine.
THANKS FOR GREAT TIPS!
You're very welcome!
2:44 yoooo. I'll definitely use that next time 🤣
You can also push fish, sort of, onto shore and grab them that way. It’s a bit messy.
Just started playing having alot of fun. I played so much the long dark interloper it made valheim a breeze so far
Glad to hear you're enjoying it, you truly are a hardcore survivalist!
Great video lad 💪...like subbed
Appreciate it man!
When fighting troll or brute amongst swarm of greydwarves, focus troll or brute with arrows. Fodder can be moped up later
thank you very much for a spoiler free tips video!
You're very welcome!
So useful tips. I Will apply It at my channel. Good vídeo and you have a new suscriber
Thank you and good luck!
i have almost 600 hours on it and this was still helpful, i think this earns a sub
Haha appreciate it!
Great tips.
my fav was the boat down the mountain trick
Using the harpoon on friendly animals is a great idea.
The only one of these I didn't know was the diving board trick. Still, good vid.
Hey appreciate it dude, glad you found something new!
Great job 👍🏻 a timely video for the incoming cross play crowd
Appreciate it!
I just bought this game yesterday lol I’m gonna play it after my exams alone so I’m excited for the journey
Sounds great, Vintosan, should be a fun time! Best of luck on the exams!
@@alessioHD thank you so much ! :)
i can't wait to sled down a mountain on a boat lmao
I naturally came to implement all these tips during my first 2 days of playing except I didn't think about sitting to lower my view while building... its my fav part of the game so far so feel slightly embarrassed that I didn't think of it since I have sat on bunch of occasions and have talked to the people I was playing with about building and how its hard to get it to snap to lower/under points due to the camera.
total cap , you swear your some know it all goat that didn’t learn anything but that one tip😂
@@RiZeLegiT all these “tips” in this video are obvious two hours into playing.. it doesnt take a genius
thank you
You're welcome!
For #25: Didn't they change the 'Raise Ground' to just raise it by one height per raising when they lowered the cost from 4 to 2 stones per raising?
Honestly not too sure, might have to give that another test.
Yes they did :)
@Alessio They did change that. The ground also shapes more rounded when you raise it. The leveling part has a lot more leeway though.
Thanks, I couldn't figure out how to harpoon my boar. Now I know.
My pleasure!
#17 i was just love it to do it haha
im the master of knowing a lot of random facts in games even games i dont play or games i like just bought as long as they are intresting
6:20 - cool farm
Also you can zoom the camera In and out.
On Xbox it's hold LB and use up/down on the d pad
Also you can disable auto pick up of items by (on xbox) holding LB and pressing L3
Thanks for the comment Gaza, that's good to know for anyone else who is playing on Controller!
@@alessioHD well I've no doubt it works on m+k aswell but I don't know the keybinds
So that's why my fire was still going out, thanks bro lol
Haha, you're welcome!
I have floor tiles in the center of my second floor and the roof because I put a torch on top as a beacon. Now I know why I get wet even when I'm inside.
That’s a lot of words to describe “case sensitive”
all good tips
Thank you!
please come back and make more videos!
Remind never to go sledding with you.
if you dig under a rock or mineral vein you can use the workbench it's not just roof tiles
That's a HUGE Tip that I forgot about, thanks for commenting!
@@alessioHD my pleasure
@@alessioHD So many editional tips that I see in the comments section. Honestly make part two if you can, I don't see a single reason why you shouldn't
For tip 53: if you cannot retrieve the item in the water, it may be because you do not have sufficient weight to hold said item. To avoid hassles, just strip all your items into nearby land (not too near the shore!), then repeat the attempt.
Swords have an area of effect. If you're too close to the enemy the swing won't connect
why would you place a boat on land???.......going down mountains???....... ooooh a sled?!?!?!, OOOH YES TYVM!!!!, i wonder what the developers thought, when they saw someone do this LOL
some good tips i will have to try them out... i wounder if you can help me? from the first day in Valhiem i have not been able to use the axe. i can make one but not use it!! any idea why?
Honestly not sure, haven't run into that problem myself.. I'd assume it'd be some sort of glitch though, maybe verifying your game files could sort it out.
Campfire a boss to death , use poison grenades they help . It’s a duplication glitch but not sharing .
Seagulls do react to arrows its just kinda buggy
When you kill the sea monster there is no need to jump into water to collect all meat you can just drive your boat above the meat and it will be collected automatically)))
I spent 500+ hours in this game and I didn't know it's possible to build a ship onto land.
I have to say, I was in the same boat (no pun intended)
"Chef Ramsay" shows burnt food lol
This comment genuinely made me laugh, I hadn't intended that!
Just got this game on Xbox. Been waiting to play it since it first released on PC. It was worth the wait, it’s fucking awesome.
That's awesome dude, enjoy the journey!
Using wheel mouse button to chop trees save more time and effort
Turns out that the first tip is actually useless since the damage is being split between more than one target, however, for some reason this tip still works on already chopped down logs
Oh that's interesting, thanks for letting me know!
Over 500 hours in, didn't know you can dive to retrieve stuff 🙈
Gr8 Vid M8
Thank you!
100 hours in and I still haven't beaten boss 3 hell yeah... 😢
Same here…
Now you can change the snap point for building. Using E
Can’t wait for this game to come to xbox game pass
Imagine you get more passive defense the more your hit or more health the more you lose.
playing solo teachs you A Lot about the risks you should or should never take.
Can you really one hit a troll if you sneak up behind it?
one tip is don't leave your boat and portal unless is protected i came back after 10 minutes and they got destroyed and despawned
I just watched this but I’m a little tired ima save it for later then watch it again then I’ll be a master at valheim yea? 😅😂
Godtier tips
Thanks!
Stone floors act as roofs.
That's a great shout, forgot to mention that one!
@@alessioHD It makes life easier.
i am waiting for the full release to play this game again.....if ark 2 doesnt destroy my social life.
how about campfire?
Yup
Tip 1. Uses quality of life mods.
Your tip at 2:39 about building the entire height of the wall with 2 stone has not been true for over a year!!
Damn. They patched that? I was excited to try that one :(
My nodes don’t collapse like that atleast not my copper
w video
agreed
What!!!!? You can plant trees without the soil not being cultivated
This game doesn’t let me learn from my mistakes. If I die, the enemy camps my loot. If I die on another island, my boat is gone and I need to craft a new one with nothing. Portals not being able to take metal just makes that worse. Sorry for my rant.
Bra zee A? (Brazier) Lol wut
Workbench prevents despawn ia such bs.
1- Always keep the rested buff.. ALWAYS.
2- Track the time of the day, don't farm at night on progression zones, you'll get overwhelmed pretty easily by the increased spawn rate.
3- Don't get on your boat when you have aggro, it takes time to gain speed.
4- You can get to snow biome without heavy armor, just upgrade the troll set and parry for the win :)
5- You can parry the abomination under attack and deal a lot of damage with an axe, with full upgraded iron buckler + iron axe the abomination goes down with 2 / 3 sets of parries.
why is no body mentioning dont ever go into plains it might look good but dont just go there before mountains !! and never turn your back to a mosquito you will thank me later
Lol, I discovered plains 2hrs ago and thought, hey this place looks cool I’ll stop. DEAD
