Nothing like 49er and Raider stories. Thank you Ronnie. You should of seen all the funny times at Sport City Cafe in Cupertino.. It was owned by 5 49ers and was the best place to eat and talk football in the SF BAY AREA.!! Charles Haley was a part time waiter there...LOL

Its the tip, not the entire finger. Check the tip of his left pinky finger if anyone hasn't already.

The Man asked him about Charles Haley melting down in the locker room..
    He responds by talking about
    ✓Joe Montana not playing
✓ Jerry Rice getting flipped on a pass play
✓ Howie Long wanting to beat someone's brains out..
Then never says a Word about how he actually went about getting Haley under control.. he just talks about how Charles didn't want to lose to the Raiders... Somebody please take this guy's microphone.. !

There is absolutely nobody like Ronnie Lott. I'm a Cowboys fan, so he broke my heart for years, but he purest football player of all time, in my opinion.

Ronnie Lott was on the Fox in-studio broadcasting team for many years and did very well. He retired because of dementia issues. This clip is probably many years after that diagnosis.

Ronnie forgot how much Howie hated Bob Mc'kittrick because he coached his offensive lineman to leg-whip.

Charles Haley struggling mentally. After Haley’s retirement he was finally able to get a diagnosis and treatment. Trading Charles Haley and letting Deion Sanders go to the Dallas Cowboys was the biggest mistake in SF 49ers history.

    • @Mr.Derogatory316
      @Mr.Derogatory316 Год назад +2

Deion wasn't committed to playing with the 49ers full time he always wanted to be with the Cowboys anyways since h didn't get along with Jerry Rice and the rest of the old school 49ers who were part of winning the previous 4 Suberbowls in the 80's. Also Charles Haley that wasn't really his fault it was more on George Seifert and his EGO not understanding Charles and not caring and not being a people person conversationalist compared to Bill Walsh and also Steve Young's fault too becuase of him replacing Joe Montara

I went to college with Charles for a couple years at James Madison; I didn't know him but one of my roommates one year did. They actually avoided pledging the same fraternity Haley was in until after he left for the NFL because he had a rep as a real jerk to pledges, and the times I saw him doing stuff like intramural basketball--and let me tell you, he could ball out there too--he was SUPER intense and always went full out. He was a man among boys on some very middling James Madison teams, in I-AA, in a very middling conference. I doubt any of us knew the superstar he would turn into because he played LB at JMU at about 235 pounds, I think, and I never expected he could put on enough size to be that dominant in the NFL. But the first time we saw him play for the 49ers, damn, he had put on about 15 pounds of muscle and lost none of his speed at OLB. Still one of the best edge rushers of all time but more importantly, I'm very glad he finally got some mental health help and turned his life back on track.

There's just something about LOTT Im still waiting to see another guy cut from that cloth in the NFL. Humanizing in story, Family and Team oriented, Dedicated and Driven beyond limbs.. and just a bit of crazy that greatness demands. The big brother and the on-field Captain of the Defense.
If Ronnie (30 yrs old still prime) doesn't go in 1990 and 49ers keep Hailey... No question IMO 49ers dont lose to the Giants as the 49ers D probably would of caused a turnover and blown the game open IMO
3peat... you might be talking about Buffalo vs 49ers in 1991 rematch for Joe's 6th and a 4 peat.
That's imo how much Ronnie's value was on the back end with Hailey up front.. each possession in a football game matters.....
Who knows if Joe gets injured..

In 90 Lott and Haley both played in that championship game and the Giants beat them fair and square. So put the pipe down and quit your bitchin!
