The only HoF speeches I need to hear are those where the player is honest about his struggles, because we ALL have them. It’s inspiring to see a world-class athlete admit that he isn’t superhuman. Gives some oxygen to the rest of us!
I remember the year that Charles got traded to the Cowboys. Of course all Niner fans were sad and upset. A few months later my buddies and I went to Reno and we stayed at the Circus Circus Hotel. there were at least 5 of us walking through the casino towards the elevator that would take us up to our rooms and I see a giant guy and I recognized the back of his head immediately. I said, "Hey...that's Charles Haley!" We all got into the elevator with him and immediately we all crowed to one side of the elevator and just stared at Charles while he cradled his youngest baby daughter in his arms. His wife was holding the other daughter in her arms. It was dead silence as we just stared and smiled. After wall Charles with his stature looked intimidating but so gentle as he held his daughter. I had to break the silence because all my friends wouldn't. So, I uttered out, "Hey Charles". He looked at me and replied, 'Hey". Then silence again. Finally the elevator stopped on his floor. As he and his wife walked out...I opened my mouth again and said, "See ya Charles". He turned over his shoulders and said, "See ya". The elevator door closed and we all erupted with screams! I am sure Charles heard all that because there were 5 guys screaming at the top of our lungs. :) We didn't want to really bug him with questions and too much conversations while he was with his family especially with his 2 baby daughters. That memory will be etched in my head forever :) Congrats Charles!!!!
Met him within the past couple of years at a book signing in Dallas . The man is so real so accessible funny as hell and with smarts that you would never believe ! One of my top three cowboy players ever and I am 71 years old so I have seen a few !
I was there to hear his speech. He gave the best speech. I love Charles although we had our issues. We were able to squash our beef. He did the best party in the tent. To Prince, Brianna, CJ and Madison, you have a great dad. Charles you are a champion and good friend.
Love Charles Haley, one of the most Under Rated players in NFL history, a great person and football player, all he ever did was play big in big games. a true Hall of Famer.
The biggest mistake SF 49ers made was trading Charles Haley and letting Deion Sanders sign with the Dallas Cowboys. If SF keep Haley and Sanders they would have won at least 2-3 Super Bowls. Charles Haley is was beast and warrior. I am truly happy that he has asked and received the treatment for himself.
Thank you Charles Haley for sharing your struggles with mental health. I struggle with mental health issues too, and I'm grateful that Charles shared his struggles. It gives me hope.
Great Speech! The Jerry impression. The golf story. The real and honest truth about his struggles. The appreciation and love he had for his ex-wife and mother of his children. That's a HOF speech!
I was shocked when my Cowboys got Charles Haley, could not believe it. I thought the Cowboys would have a good year in 1992 maybe get to the NFC championship game, hell they won it and the Super Bowl! I was 20 then and now I am 50! Super Bowl 27 was great and Haley causing the fumble for a touchdown. Great memories!
Awesome speech from a true winner! For those interested he wrote a book some years back (All The Glory (?)) with some great inside stories ...and funny! I remember watching him and at times he reminded me of Reggie White, at others Bruce Smith...and always pure Charles Haley. He was an intimidating presence out there....with that neck roll and demeanor....truly deserving Hall of Famer!! Congratulations Charles Haley...enjoyed watching you...except against my beloved Detroit Lions (stop laughing everyone)!
(God bless ya, Charles.) I hated seeing him go to Dallas, but I think a part of him was glad at that point. Walsh was gone. Joe Montana soon would be. If you read Haley's book, he had no use for Steve Young, who, according to Haley, tried to undermine Joe behind his back for playing time. Haley said when he got to the Niners as a rookie, Joe took him under his wing, showed him the ropes and took care of him. He never forgot it. Watch the end of SB-XXIV - SF vs. Denver. At the end, as the Niners were celebrating on the sidelines etc, one of the first guys there hugging Joe and congratulating him, was Haley.
One of the craziest dudes. To ever play the game. So glad he played for Dallas for awhile. Really great when he talked about his mental health. Bravo Charles.
+Agent of Chaos championships from the first 45 years of the league don't count? That's ridiculous. Eagle and Lion fans don't celebrate their championships because they're going on sixty years old.
Charles gave 200% on the field and he was a joker off the field. You should of seen him act as a waiter at the Sports City Cafe in Cupertino. I saw the best side of Charles while he was a 49er.. RIP Coach Bill Walsh
***** Hell yeah! The Ghost to the Post! And he's the one that recovered the football on the "Holy Roller" play. Casper is a legend to us Raider fans. I was only listening to the speech at first, but as soon as he said, "MAN, ALL THIS SHIT IS GREEN!", I started watching and noticed Dave Casper as if he never heard a cuss word in his life. Good thing I noticed him, because I didn't want to concentrate on that crooked thug, DeBartolo.
***** Yeah, HELL OF A TIGHT END. He was Stabler's favorite target after Freddy Bilitnikoff. Back then, TE just mainly blocked, but Casper was an excellent pass catcher and runner, and one hell of a blocker. He revolutionized the position. Then Kellen Winslow Sr. did the same after him. I'm glad I noticed Casper was there. Glad to see another Golden Domer/Raider get enshrined to the HOF in Tim Brown, while Golden Domer/Raider Legend Casper participated.
Sitizen Kane and in later years Cliff (speed kills) Branch. I'm so sorry that you guys are about to lose your team to Vegas with your team on the rise. As a Browns fan, I feel your pain. It truly sucks.
Haley was a truly great player. I once had the fortune to get a sideline pass at St. Edwards in Austin TX training camp. For some reason Halley was fielding punts. I was too close to the sideline and he waved to me and said Back up! I did immediately.
Charles gave 200% on the field and he was a joker off the field. You should of seen him act as a waiter at the Sports City Cafe in Cupertino. I saw the best side of Charles while he was a 49er
2:05 "ALL THIS SHIT IS GREEN!" Lol that's real! Hey, is the guy behind the former 49ers owner, DeBartolo Jr., is that the great Raider's Tight End Dave Casper? Lol look at his face! He looks as if he never heard a cuss word in his life!
Charles Haley has the honesty of Mike Tyson- but he does have some mental issues. That's great that he is bringing awareness to mental illness! Take your meds every day!
If there was no Leonard Marshall hit, and Haley took his meds the Nine rs would have had 8 rings. Including a 3 peat. Just analyze it chronologically. Haley would also have no career today. The QBs are protected now. A very telling moment was when many thought Joe Ferguson was dead. Really. He was sacked by Wilbur Marshall, and there was no flag. It was legal. Haley came at the right time.
Great Player Only One Thing That I Didn't Understand n His Speech How Can He Say J.Debartolo Was The Greatest Owner He Played For When The 2nd Owner He Played For Opened up a Fundraiser to Save His Daughter's Life IMO Jerry Jones Should of Been the Greatest Owner He Ever Played For not J.Debartolo Nothing Against The Man Cuz J.Debartolo Was a Great Owner As Well Just As N His Speech I Think Jerry Jones Did More For Him than J.Debartolo n Never Traded Em Either
one story I heard about Haley they say he would pull his junk out and antagonize Joe Montana and Steve Young he was a weird cat. he also took a shit on bill Walsh's car.
He was just as good with the Cowboys as the Niners so hes both. Most have a team they're great with they go to the next team & aren't as good. Haley was great with both the Cowboys & Niners.
I Smell Fresh Cash your an idiot i wasn't talking about his career stats or him. Im talkimg about his rings idiot...he was lucky to have five rings. Even I could of have five rings too if i landed on the 49ers and cowboys in those era's.
supreme_ deity00 if you're not talking about his career stats or him, then why are you talking? That's the determination of a great player. That's what keeps you on the great teams to get those rings and that's what makes those teams great.
Clearly you don't know how good this man was, the only reason he wasn't a first ballot HOF was because of his behavior and antics. At the time no one knew he had a psychological disorder. The man was great, don't underrate his work.

Awesome story 👍
Well played my friend
Met him within the past couple of years at a book signing in Dallas . The man is so real so accessible funny as hell and with smarts that you would never believe ! One of my top three cowboy players ever and I am 71 years old so I have seen a few !
Best speech of the night. Short, heartfelt, and hilarious.
Like a good life.
Ran into Charles 4 times in Dallas , Charles always took the time to speak to my Family . WHAT A GREAT GUY!! Thanks Charles, God always be with you
I was there to hear his speech. He gave the best speech. I love Charles although we had our issues. We were able to squash our beef. He did the best party in the tent. To Prince, Brianna, CJ and Madison, you have a great dad. Charles you are a champion and good friend.
Monsieur Noir I gained a lot of respect for him after watching this video. he's human, like us all.
Love Charles Haley, one of the most Under Rated players in NFL history, a great person and football player, all he ever did was play big in big games. a true Hall of Famer.
Haley is underrated? That’s crazy!
Finally, the missing piece to the Dallas Cowboys SB wins of the 90s takes his rightful place in the Hall!
Darren woodson is next
Billy badass, lol he backed up his play, walk the walk talk the talk kind of player!
Thank you Charles Haley for sharing your struggles with mental health. I struggle with mental health issues too, and I'm grateful that Charles shared his struggles. It gives me hope.
I wish I could like this a thousand times. What a wonderful human being
Charles Haley was a game changer, a beast!
He was nervous as hell Lol. But congrats man, and thank you so much for the memories. Cowboys Nation!!
He needs to stay nervous every time he speaks because this was great.
This was a truly great speech.
Honesty openmindness and willingness are essential to recovery. Only biligerant denial can defeat the one in recovery. Great speech and testimony.
Took long enough for him to get there, but he earned it. Pass rush machine that forced complete changes in an Offensive Coordinator's game plans.
Great Speech! The Jerry impression. The golf story. The real and honest truth about his struggles. The appreciation and love he had for his ex-wife and mother of his children. That's a HOF speech!
Thank you Charles, America's Team!!!!
The Jerry Jones impression starting @7:12 was gold.😅😂
One of the Very Best and gifted athletes to ever wear the Star on his helmet - Sheer Awesomeness.
I was shocked when my Cowboys got Charles Haley, could not believe it. I thought the Cowboys would have a good year in 1992 maybe get to the NFC championship game, hell they won it and the Super Bowl! Thank You Mr. Haley for your Honesty and accepting your Mental Health and took the Help!!! God bless you forever!!!
What a champ! Much respect.
It's still one of the best speeches
That was a an outstanding speech. Haley is a legend.
charles haley glad you are in the hall of fame great speech!
Maybe the most heartfelt HOF speech I've ever heard.
When I think of greatness in football, only one name comes to mind, Charles Haley.
I love this MAN, he's One of the best!!!!
No question a first ballot Hall of Famer . One of the best DE's to ever play the game.
Awesome speech from a great man and intense player ....

In his last statement, he said "Joe was a rock" not sure who he meant.
@@jasonnolan9697 He was talking about Job from the bible.
@Lava LifeGuard No Sir, it's spelled Job. Google it.
One of the craziest dudes. To ever play the game. So glad he played for Dallas for awhile. Really great when he talked about his mental health. Bravo Charles.
Powerful & Phenomenal Speech Great career Mr Charles Haley 🙌🏽🏈💯
Man, I'm drunk as hell. As soon as I realised the Everytime he said "guys" it was a drinking game. lol.
Love this guy and his speech!
Best speech ever
God bless you Charles Haley!
This is also great to me because he is from my hometown I could literally drive 15 minutes to where he was raised
Charles Haley :-) Former 49er :-) Hall Of Famer :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
I like yer post, my friend!
R Matrix Thank you :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
MrMegaFredZeppelin Mr. Charles Haley, former Dallas Cowboy! Sounds even better...
Jayson jjwiggs 49ers! (Dallas!) 9ers! (Dallas!) 9ers.
Jayson jjwiggs This is one case where displaying both teams would be completely appropriate. And both should be, I'd say.
This was great!!
Haley was great during the regular season.. but a beast in the playoffs when it mattered the most. Especially in Super bowls. Bout time he went in.
Much respect to this man.
Hayley has more rings than the whole Packers franchise. Best franchise ever my ass.
I'm a huge Bears fan, but the Packers have 13 total NFL championships. They're not to be scoffed at. Wish they were, though.
He has more rings than the Bears too
ContentFrog Championships before the super bowl don't count you don't see Eagles fans being happy about their NFL Championships.
Ryan H. Yeah but some Packers fans think they are the best franchise and it's annoying.
+Agent of Chaos championships from the first 45 years of the league don't count? That's ridiculous. Eagle and Lion fans don't celebrate their championships because they're going on sixty years old.
SF lost a great one and Dallas got the man they needed to bring the D together thank you Charles for the memories.........
One of the best to ever do it!
GREAT SPEECH!
"All this @#$# is green!" all time best story of any HOF inductee.
Great to see Haley go in... only 100.5 sacks but his QB pressures were tops on the league and it wasn't even close.
I'm manic depressive. This is so inspirational.
What an inspiration.
5 Rings - All Earned - unlike the Houston Astros. He was as Disruptive a D.L. as there ever was. Played even Bigger in the biggest games. #94 Legend
Charles gave 200% on the field and he was a joker off the field. You

I think he's the only player to win 5 Super Bowls.
Now Brady has the most rings.
