The only HoF speeches I need to hear are those where the player is honest about his struggles, because we ALL have them. It’s inspiring to see a world-class athlete admit that he isn’t superhuman. Gives some oxygen to the rest of us!

I remember the year that Charles got traded to the Cowboys. Of course all Niner fans were sad and upset. A few months later my buddies and I went to Reno and we stayed at the Circus Circus Hotel. there were at least 5 of us walking through the casino towards the elevator that would take us up to our rooms and I see a giant guy and I recognized the back of his head immediately. I said, "Hey...that's Charles Haley!" We all got into the elevator with him and immediately we all crowed to one side of the elevator and just stared at Charles while he cradled his youngest baby daughter in his arms. His wife was holding the other daughter in her arms. It was dead silence as we just stared and smiled. After wall Charles with his stature looked intimidating but so gentle as he held his daughter. I had to break the silence because all my friends wouldn't. So, I uttered out, "Hey Charles". He looked at me and replied, 'Hey". Then silence again. Finally the elevator stopped on his floor. As he and his wife walked out...I opened my mouth again and said, "See ya Charles". He turned over his shoulders and said, "See ya". The elevator door closed and we all erupted with screams! I am sure Charles heard all that because there were 5 guys screaming at the top of our lungs. :) We didn't want to really bug him with questions and too much conversations while he was with his family especially with his 2 baby daughters. That memory will be etched in my head forever :) Congrats Charles!!!!

The biggest mistake SF 49ers made was trading Charles Haley and letting Deion Sanders sign with the Dallas Cowboys. If SF keep Haley and Sanders they would have won at least 2-3 Super Bowls. Charles Haley is was beast and warrior. I am truly happy that he has asked and received the treatment for himself.

(God bless ya, Charles.) I hated seeing him go to Dallas, but I think a part of him was glad at that point. Walsh was gone. Joe Montana soon would be. If you read Haley's book, he had no use for Steve Young, who, according to Haley, tried to undermine Joe behind his back for playing time. Haley said when he got to the Niners as a rookie, Joe took him under his wing, showed him the ropes and took care of him. He never forgot it. Watch the end of SB-XXIV - SF vs. Denver. At the end, as the Niners were celebrating on the sidelines etc, one of the first guys there hugging Joe and congratulating him, was Haley.

I was only listening to the speech at first, but as soon as he said, "MAN, ALL THIS SHIT IS GREEN!", I started watching and noticed Dave Casper as if he never heard a cuss word in his life. Good thing I noticed him, because I didn't want to concentrate on that crooked thug, DeBartolo.

***** Yeah, HELL OF A TIGHT END. He was Stabler's favorite target after Freddy Bilitnikoff. Back then, TE just mainly blocked, but Casper was an excellent pass catcher and runner, and one hell of a blocker. He revolutionized the position. Then Kellen Winslow Sr. did the same after him. I'm glad I noticed Casper was there. Glad to see another Golden Domer/Raider get enshrined to the HOF in Tim Brown, while Golden Domer/Raider Legend Casper participated.

If there was no Leonard Marshall hit, and Haley took his meds the Nine rs would have had 8 rings. Including a 3 peat. Just analyze it chronologically. Haley would also have no career today. The QBs are protected now. A very telling moment was when many thought Joe Ferguson was dead. Really. He was sacked by Wilbur Marshall, and there was no flag. It was legal.
Haley came at the right time.

supreme_ deity00 if you're not talking about his career stats or him, then why are you talking? That's the determination of a great player. That's what keeps you on the great teams to get those rings and that's what makes those teams great.

Clearly you don't know how good this man was, the only reason he wasn't a first ballot HOF was because of his behavior and antics. At the time no one knew he had a psychological disorder.
The man was great, don't underrate his work.
