Those were some classic games between the Niners and my Giants in the '80's. Brutal. Literal street fights. It was a clash of styles. The Niners had their Dynasty. They were amazing but, most people forget, the Giants knocked them out of the Playoffs 3 times in the '80's (1990) I think. Hell, if it were not for the Big Blue Wrecking Crew, the Niners might have had 3 more trophies, they were that good. I certainly miss the way the game was played in those days.

Trey Murphy The 49ers also had to face the Bears and Eagles defenses of the 80’s as well. The NFC was so strong in the 80’s. That went into the early 90’s as well.

And by some miraculous coincidence, every time the Giants managed to squeek out a win over the Niners, with the help of officials and huge dolllop of crooked play, are prominently highlighted as featured RUclips fodder, whereas the many 49er tub thumpiing blow outs of the Giants are censored. Both this 7-0 regular season 49er win and the Giants 15-13 NFC Championship game were classics. I remember watching the last 5-6 minutes with the Giants trailing 13-12 even though they had out played the 9 ers all game long. Carthon dropped a sure td pass from a Dave Meggett option throw and the Giants movie the ball all game long having to settle for fg all day long. The 49ers made one big play when Everson Walls went for a pick 6 and just missed by inches; turned into SF td. He missed but it was still the right move by Walls and anyone who ever play corner (at any level and I did) will tell you the same. Ball hawks ( Parcells brought him in to play for NY because they needed a gambler like him) take calculated risks, worked vs Skins for 6, this time he missed, oh well. That was the only decent play all day that great SF offence had vs the Great NY GIANTS D.. Anteater caused a fumble and Hoss got us close so Bahr could do his thing. GREATEST NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME EVER!!!

your recollection is way off...the 49ERS dominated both games defensively as the Giants never crossed the goal-line for a TD...and the Giants had to resort to trickery with a fake punt to stay in the game...then they needed Craig to cough up a fumble with the 49ERS in position to run the clock out..bottom line is the better team did not win that Championship...you can credit Parcells for out coaching Seifert..it certainly wasn't because the Giants had the better players..
