Joe Montana is always a class-act on and off the field. The Super Bowl runs Montana and Clark had together in early 1980s launched the 49ers as a Football Dynasty. Thank you both for great plays and memories. RIP Dwight Clark. Salute the GOAT Joe Montana.
@@bobabooey4537 The GOAT LB Lawrence Taylor had this to say... "Joe Montana is still my man," Taylor said on the I am Athlete podcast this week. "Still my man. You say greatest quarterbacks ever, I'm still with Joe Montana. I'm not going with Tom Brady....Listen, Tom Brady got all the rules on his side. You can't touch him. You can't touch him. If you hit him, if you breathe on him, they're gonna throw a flag." "I don't understand how he drops back eight yards, and he sits in a little cocoon, and they're not sending people at him," he said. "Why is the defense not sending people? Man, let me tell you something....If I'm playing, I'm hitting him every play. Even if I had to just pat him on the ass, I was right there beside you, brother." - The GOAT LB Lawrence Taylor
I was lucky enuff to have known both Joe Montana and D. C. from there early days of practicing at Sierra college in Rocklin Ca. I can say with all honesty I have never met two nicer or more likable gentlemen who were just out to play footbal and enjoy life!God bless them both! Thanks for taking the time to make a college wrestler feel special...
Thanks, Joe, for sharing your friendship with us. Dwight wasn't just a great football player, he was also a great person. The son of my best friend was born handicapped and never walked a day in his far too short life. But Brad was a huge 9er fan. When the 9ers still had their spring training near the Marysville/Yuba City Ca. area Dwight somehow learned about Brad and actually visited him while Brad was in one of his many hospital stays. Needless to say, it was the highlight of Brad's 29-year life.
That last bit just made me cry in matter of one second. Well done….while battling cancer that my dad would ultimately pass away from, we all went to see the 49ers play a charity basketball game at Seaside HS, in Seaside, CA in early 2000’s. Mid mid game, Dwight falls into the stands chasing the ball out of bounds. He practically falls into my fathers lap. Jokingly, Clark puts his arm around my dad, asks my dad what’s fun yo do afterwards in Monterey. He hung out talking to my dad for a minute who two while the game was still going on. After a couple of minutes he says thanks and “I gotta get back to the game.” My dad looks at me and says,”that was so cool”
That's an amazing memory! I'm so sorry for your loss. I loss my Dad less than a year ago to cancer. His love for San Francisco and his 49ers rubbed off on me. I'm so thankful we went to candlestick together and talked on the phone during every game we weren't together for. His name was Joe and he was born in '49. It was meant to be. The Catch and D.C. were epic! He and that whole team were amazing on and off the field.
The great thing about Joe is, if you listen to the old tapes, it’s the same old Joe who took us to the Super Bowl in 82. DC , Joe, Jerry, the crew from those years... had that cool demeanor that made you believe anything was possible. They were calm, warm and icy cold on the field all at the same time. The ultimate professionals.
Dwight Clark said to Joe Montana, " Ya know they don't call it the THROW " Joe Montana says " DC I'll CATCH you on the other side" Quote from Joe Montana to his spiritual brother #87 Dwight Clark !! MEnye says "Praise Jesus and Thanks God for having DC, our 49er Hero in Your safekeeping and special care🧡"!!
As a little boy in Texas I was a Cowboy fan. But I got tired of them losing in the Super Bowl twice to the Steelers. After they lost the second one I said "Enough of this I will no longer be a fan of them." So for a couple of years I followed no team. Then with what would be the last championship games I would see with my dad I saw the 49ERS vs Dallas. And after seeing The Catch I told my dad that the 49ERS were going to be my team. Which angered my dad since he was a Cowboy fan.😂 R.I.P. #87 & You My Father. Miss You Papa.💔😢😭
I had the honor to meet DC and his wife Ashley when my best friend Bob (RIP) and I went to install shower doors and mirrors at their San Carlos hills home. I bought a brand new Wilson football, hoping he would be there to sign it. He was and did. He was really friendly and hung out with us for long while. On the ball he wrote "Remember the Catch" and "good luck to our new business" Ashley signed it too. DC, a good soul....
When I think of football Joe Montana and Dwight Clark always is my first thought. Even though he is gone, he is remembered. He left a lifelong impression.
Joe you are the greatest as a life long niners fan you and Dwight with the catch still one of the greatest moments of my life. I was in section 39 jumped into my dads arms as a 13 year old to celebrate I only hope I can live a moment with my son half as good as that moment. God bless Dwight and Joe
Uggggg I`m so sorry for his passing. I only knew him as a Player as a fan though I am a raider fan. He was one heck of a TE and the plays he made for the 49ers were amazing. The Catch will always be a part of the NFL history and great plays of all time. RIP DC. From this Raider fan.
Brady may be called today's goat, but he will never equal Montana. I still remember the stories when Montana stayed at Dwight's house after college. Young girls used to leave beer on his doorstep along with notes. Montana makes lifelong friends wherever he goes, something Brady lacks. And Dwight was one of the best.
Joe's had the same haircut for 40+ years.....maybe longer. Maybe going all the way back to his days at ND. Who knows? Who cares? He's the GOAT & he can do whatever he wants. RIP Dwight Clark.
I can remember that catch like is was yesterday. Those player back then were the Toughest players that played in the NFL these players today can’t step on the same playing field with them. Joe is still the Greatest QB that played the game!. RIP. Dwight Clark. You will be miss
I didn't become a 49ers fan until they drafted Joe Montana. I grew up watching him play at Notre Dame and being a Joe Montana fan never changed but along the way I became a fan of a bunch of other player's and Dwight Clark was one of them. I never met he, Joe Montana, Freddie Solomon, Ronnie Lott, Eddie DeBart...but I feel like I know them personally. They all seem to have that Joe Montana kind cool and decent human beings to talk to type of vibe. R.I.P. Mr. Dwight Clark and Freddie Solomon. I hope as I age I never forget "The Catch" or the story about moments before "The Catch" how Joe Montana in one of the biggest most defining moments notices R.I.P. John Candy in the crowd.
What a great tribute to a true friend. I remember the strory of when they were in training camp for the first time and Clark saw Montana for the first time and thought "hmmm, this skinny guy must be the kicker."
Thanks for the poetry Dwight... "I ask of Thee by the splendor of the Orb of Thy Revelation, mercifully to accept from him that which he hath achieved in Thy days. Grant then that he may be invested with the glory of Thy good-pleasure..." ~Baha'i Prayer
Thats the only thing that matters in the end. Did he love God and did he have a good relationship with him. MVP' s and championship rings mean NOTHING if you spent your whole life in pursuit of then instead of YOUR GOD. May he have found the lord before his death.
Yes his team mate Freddie Solomon died in Feb 2012 of liver cancer. There is another Freddie Solomon, now 47 who played for the Eagles from 1995-98 but I don't know much about him.

No longer the GOAT. There is only one person who would consider Joe the GOAT... and thats Tom Brady.

To lose a friend like that is heart breaking! Loved what you said Joe, a true friend and teammate!
Total classy guy. Joe Montana = GOAT

Even though I'm from Wisconsin and a Packers fan, I always enjoyed watching the 49ers during the 80,s. My personal favorite 49er is Ronnie Lott

Montana is such a class-act.
Always cool under pressure Joe, what a great friend Dwight was, from a New York Giants fan....
Dwight was probably Joe's closest 49er friend....along with Ronnie Lott. This must have been so hard.

You are not a real fan ,your just a lousy bandwagon jumper. A real fan stands by Thier team you bumb.
In other words you are bandwagoner
The catch linked them for eternity But the bond they shared was so much more
Thank you form memories that can never be taken. RIP
DC to Joe - "They don't call it 'The Throw.'" Honest love between professional teammates.
Life is more than football, but Joe and Dwight became legendary when it came to life.
They really were a Dynamic Duo.

Joe Cool the perfect class act as always
Thank You for posting this.
I remember that night Joe and Dwight walked into TGI Fridays on Sunrise Blvd in Sacramento when they were campin' in Rocklin. Rockstar.
Very nice. Very difficult to do and do it so well and genuinely.
Never will forget spotting Joe Montana in a Nashville Restaurant in 2010 didn’t want to interrupt he and his wife’s dinner
Who on earth gave this a thumbs down?
Yes, I agree with you, Chairman Meow: sadly, there are some 'heartless' people in this world.
Bengal fans
People just want attention. Sad pathetic souls.
Spineless, heartless, inconsiderate and hateful people would do such a thing. RIP DC
Everson Wallis or too tall jones....joking
I feel so sad for Dewey. Gone so young. More than a "catch."
Haiku for Dwight Clark ( " The Catch")
I can see him now
Ascending to the heavens
In the bright twilight
Rip Dwight

I didn't know the guy was dead
He was famous for catching a ball during a game played by kids
The real 49ers before these bang bang lose to the chiefs in the super bowl every year gang
I ain't never liked Montana nor the 49ers and still don't
Yeah, well u suck
