You know, we who grew up with the 49ers, suffered with them for so many years in the 50's, 60's and 70's, we have a special appreciation for DC. His persona was absolutely the example of what it is to be a hero. In fact, those 49ers teams of Walsh and Seifert and DeBartolo will never be forgotten. They glued the Bay Area together with their excellence.
Clark broke my heart with the catch. I was 11 years old. It’s heartbreaking to see what happened to him but he was loved and surrounded by friends and loved ones till the end. RIP Mr. Clark.
In 1973 my Father was diagnosed with ALS and I witnessed first hand how this horrible disease could impact the one with it and the family supporting. We were blessed that he lived 6 years before he passed 11 days shy of my 21st Bday. I had been a Bay Area kid my whole life and followed the 49ers for years through their struggles and heartbreaks. The '81 season brought us all something to cheer for and I like to believe that SF's sudden success was my Dad reaching down to bring me hope for the future. I was devastated when I heard the Dwight Clark diagnosis and was shocked when he passed so soon after. RIP Dwight and Thank You for the hope you gave and the courage you demonstrated.
Huey Lewis said it. "the Catch" changed our team and our lives. They went from perennial losers to winners in that singular moment of greatness. I have much more respect for players and their families and I'm a little more humble.
Forget about the catch the only play that was big and launched the 49er dynasty was when eric wright horse collard drew pearson!! DREW PEARSON WAS HORSE COLLARD!!!
To all responsible for this touching tribute to someone who has brought inspiration and joy to so many, I sincerely thank you. As a inner fan from the early 70's, I remember the catch , to this day, like it happened 5 minutes ago. For all inner fans, it was the transcendent moment in time that never grows old. Its great to know, that Dwight was ever more inspiring off the field. Thanks to all that shared your memories. Love and prayers to all. And Dwight, if you cross paths with my dad in heaven ,a lowly copyboys fan, remind him who you are, what you did, and that you actually played with god.
Tony B Edd D treated his players and office workers like family. Montana even say Eddie D loved his players and family office workers. Eddie D even done things people don’t know about because he did it from his heart.
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account?? I somehow forgot my login password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me.
@@muffs55mercury61 you watch all the clips from players when Ed Debartolo still Owned the team? Every player called him the best owner in the NFL every player and he knows how to make players welcome
It was exiting to see him play.thank u for the memories Dwight clark made watching football very fun thank u so very much for making that catch to beat the cowboys I will always remember u God bless u and ur family.
A great player who helped take us to the promised land of dynasty football. But an even better person sounds like. A cure for ALS can never come sooner. Prayers all and RIP DC.
Not only was Dwight a great football player, he was also a very good and decent person. When the 9ers has their spring training in northern California near the Marysville/Yuba City area he learned about a handicapped young man who was a big fan of the team. Brad had never walked a day in his short life. One time while he was in one of his far too often admissions to a hospital, Dwight visited him. That visit was the highlight of my close friend's son's life.
Dwight was definitely blessed, he was on the right place to receive God's Blessing. He was there in the scout when Bill Walsh was trying Steve Fuller, He was on the right place when Montana threw the ball so he could catch it. He is now in the right place in heaven coaching angels on receiving God's Passes. Thank you Dwight, great players like you made me the football fan I am today. I will not change football for nothing !! Amen.
Right. Don't forget that Joe missed a wide open Fred Solomon before this play giving DC the chance to be the hero. Nobody knew how fortunate he was more than Dwight himself. Even as he was wasting away he scoffed at anyone who might feel sorry for him He was the true " luckiest man alive".😣
Damn, he was really good looking. I can barely get through these documentaries without breaking down. It is so moving to see how Mr. D and all the niners rallied around him til the end. RIP
Wow! Bill Walsh goes to see Clemson QB Steve Fuller workout and Dwight Clark who didn't have much of a career at Clemson is running routes and catching passes for Fuller and makes an impression on Walsh who drafts him in the 10th round. I think today's draft is six rounds. Clark was one of the first big, fast WRs at 6'3". Another Wow! is the city of San Francisco Parks & Recreation Dept. owned and managed Candlestick Park. Eddie D. got city property (the goal post from The Stick from 1982) to put in his yard. Smooth, extra smooth.
Wow!.powerful emotional a really good look into a super nice humble guy someone that had a quiet strength! I remember watching that game very clearly we were a poor family struggling in ca on a very foggy day a hundred miles from there watching the catch lol it made situation a lot better I guess it just lifted our spirits up RIP!
It's hard sometimes to keep one's faith. We're told everything happens as part of God's plans but I often see just some of the worst kinds of people doing all sorts of unconscionable things & these people often live very long destructive lives. Then I see a man like Dwight & he's taken at age 61. Like I said I struggle with faith. I hope someday it'll all make sense.
All you people please understand something Dwight clark is not the hero and the legend forget about the catch! the hero and the legend is ERIC WRIGHT!!!!
I'm glad I am old enough to have seen Dwight play. He and Joe were the start of a Dynasty. Man those were fun times!

The catch brought the dynasty 5 super bowls and he was chosen as that guy to be.
Clark broke my heart with the catch. I was 11 years old. It’s heartbreaking to see what happened to him but he was loved and surrounded by friends and loved ones till the end. RIP Mr. Clark.
SF’s HERO always ……Eddie D as WELL 💞🕊️❤
God bless you, Dwight. #87 Forever!
RIP thank you Dwight

I am Canadian from Montréal Québec and my 49ers come before my hockey team......... Dwight you made me a 49ers fan for life thank you D.C.
Clark was great.
Very underrated.
Clark had a knack of making big plays in big games.
Huey Lewis said it. "the Catch" changed our team and our lives. They went from perennial losers to winners in that singular moment of greatness. I have much more respect for players and their families and I'm a little more humble.
He was a good looking man, RIP🙏 ALS claimed the life of my Aunt❤️She was a great doctor❤️RIP to both 🙏
I saw "The Catch" as it happened...huge 9er fan and Dwight fan. Great person and a true inspiration to millions. Do Rest In Peace, Hero.

Great football player but even better human being RIP sir
What a tribute to be buried by the goal post where he made The Catch and how classy of Eddie to do that on his property.
Eddie was a good owner and appreciated his team unlike some others who are always on a power trip.
Tony B Edd D treated his players and office workers like family. Montana even say Eddie D loved his players and family office workers. Eddie D even done things people don’t know about because he did it from his heart.

OMG what a nice video. RIP Dwight. In our thoughts for ever. He was born to be a 49er.
Rip Dwight Clark 1957-2018
Dwight Clark was awesome PERIOD!!!
How come no one talks about him ??? He was one of the best

He was blessed with looks, charm, talent and LUCK!
Which is what makes his decline so poignant and yet not tragic
Thank U so much for this wonderful
Video on this great man in sports God Bless his family and friends all sports fans around the world ♥️
Dwight Clark was a great receiver, had he played longer he will be in the NFL Hall of Fame.
By all rights he should have been in long ago.
A lot of other receivers would have bobbled the ball and lost it. He was among the best that ever played. RIP
This was a well done piece on Dwight.
We love you Dwight.
Thank You < Dwight!
Thank you. Awesome story.
There will never be another!!!!!!!
I love Dwight and his 49ers.
Such a beautiful story about a hero s' life from team mates who are also great hero s'.
May God bless you'al.

Haiku for Dwight Clark ( " The Catch")
I can see him now
Ascending to the heavens
In the bright Twilight.
Most sudden sports death of 2018. I never heard he was that sick until his passing. At least some of his games are preserved on film for us to watch.
“You know, they don’t call it “the throw.”
Dwight Clark
His friends and loved ones say it all without using one interview clip from Dwight. It is easy to see why they all loved him so much.
STUD
Glad my girlfriend went shopping. This was tough to watch. Such a great player, but more importantly, he was just a class guy.
1:52 "he was a man playing with boys" **spits out coffee**

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen...Hebrews 11: 1 i too struggle with faith, and pray for strenght
