Hey everybody! Welcome to another episode of 'EASY & DREAMY' Guitar Chords. This time I'll show you how I use open tunings on guitar for instant dreaminess. This video was sponsored by Skillshare. One tuning that I like to use a lot is DADGCC. Leaving the two C strings open while playing power chord shapes on the lower strings makes a nice dreamy chorus effect!
I am kind of an amateur in the "shoegaze making" stuff, but your whole channel has helped me to get through the process of finding new chords and playing with different tunnings. You´re amazing, dude! I really appreciate your content
Thank you so much, Barry. I'll check out the FACGCE tuning. Sound interesting! And well, I traded off an ald acoustcc guitar against this one and it's much more intersting to play then I expected!
Hey Kenneth, can I ask what mic/type of mic you use when you are filming your videos? Not for the music itself but just when you are talking to the camera. Thanks.
@@tylerfetherston3208 Absolutely no problem. :) Just wanted to let you know. You can find this kind of mic on Amazon as well. It's probably not so important if it's this model specifically. :)
@@The_RedVIII Definitily. I love their production and melodies like "Good Song" or "Jets" .. But some stuff some song from their early albums sounded a bit like My Bloody Valentine and I think this is why I connected to MBV in the first place.
If you mean the white Sqier Jag.. That's the one hanging behind me. I modified it with the sample player and we decided to craft a new body for it so the sampler would fit in. That's why it's purple now.
BTW, did you listen to the album Black Aura My Sun by Deserta? I'm absolutely obsessed with it and think it's one of the best albums of 2020. Not enough people are talking about it. I would love to know which synths he is using for example.
This is a message from the future 🤣. You should make a update video for these in what you have come with for the dreamy chords I'm guessing you've discovered lots more
I will definitely make more of these. I still play and invent many new ones. But in the end I want to inspire people to find some own combinations and experiment with tunings. :)
@@berlinshoegazer sorry its just that chord progression you were playing in this is "never said" by Liz phair. Not exactly shoegaze but she uses some unique chord progressions!

Since you play power chord shapes does the g string remain open as well?
Thank you for all you do for the community, you are an awesome musician
Thank you so much, Emiliano. You made my day!!

Sounds really nice, a very cool sounding progression. Thanks, man.
amazing video brother thankyou!
Thanks Kenneth - I've been curious about "Drop D" for a while, so this is really helpful!
Cool lesson buddy. It's so much fun to play around with detuning strings: anything goes! Endless possibilities.
Thanks man i just wrote my 1st chord progression in key of A
I - III- IV
A (577600)
C# (46650)
D5 (577x0 or 57700)
very good stuff
super inspiring.
So glad! Thank you for letting me know.
Great video. Learnt so much in such a short presentation. Many thanks.
it was here that I learned a capo isn’t just called a capo, it’s short for Capodastre! and Italian word meaning ‘head of fretboard’
"capodastre" is the french word, the actual italian word is "capotasto" :)
@@mariosetaro9619 you learn something new everyday mate cheers
@@worldless4932 yeaaa that's for sure
very cool introduction to alternate tunings.
My current favorite/main-tuning is CGCEGC.
I’ve been trying CGCFCE and CGCGCC, those are really fun. Not many vids on them out there though!
Thank you for sharing. I'll check these out!
Thanks for this! Super helpful! Never even thought about letting the bottom strings ring out! Lolol
Hey Robert. So cool it inspired you. I do this all the time. Love the airy sound of it.
Love your accent! Great video! Thank you so much. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Liked and subscribed.
Cool,thanks.
Thanks for this video! Very useful
Thsnk you so much. You mean chord tutorials? Or do you mean Zoom tutorials?
@@berlinshoegazer yes, Zoom please 🖤
Thank you very much
Most excellent lesson Kenny!
Very cool man. I also like to move the top 4 strings of the major shape around, letting the bottom 2 strings ring out.
Gives me still inspiration. :)
Great video man! Open tunings are so amazing. I personally like to play Math Rock/Mid-West Emo stuff in FACGCE. Oh and nice guitar ya got there too.
Thank you so much, Barry. I'll check out the FACGCE tuning. Sound interesting! And well, I traded off an ald acoustcc guitar against this one and it's much more intersting to play then I expected!
Very helpful lesson. Gaze nation. Thanks!
Thank you. So happy if I can help.
very cool, thank you.
Clear and great lesson, thanks a lot!
Thank you for your comment. I'm happy if anysthing I teaching here makes sense to other musicians. :)
can you do a video on how to make a drum track or sample drums , every time I try it feels really boring and contrived.
Can you do a video on shoegaze lead guitar?
Of course. Would love to. That would be an interesting topic.
Hello friend, what are you running guitar through? Also are those acoustic or electric strings? Guage?
Thanks!
Hey man, my.guitar gies right into my audio interface and it uses steel acoustic strings.
Hey Kenneth, can I ask what mic/type of mic you use when you are filming your videos? Not for the music itself but just when you are talking to the camera. Thanks.
Hey Tyler, you usually find these infos in my video description. Here is the link to the microphone: ebay.us/OoHKUX

i was so bored of 7 chords. thanks :')
2:46 This melody reminds me of the song Caravan by Blur.
Love that album. Listened to almost all the Blur albums as a teen. Taught me so much.
@@berlinshoegazer I’m actually not the biggest Blur fan, but I love Think Tank. Such an underrated album.

what happened to your fender jag? haven't seen it for a while
You mean the jag hanging on the wall behind him?
@@JamesThomas01 he probably means the white one

@@sleestak284 Ah, the Fender Player Jag.. I currently have it in another room but will play it in upcoming videos again.
What is a string gauge?ty
Are the string highs in relation to the freatboard? It posible calibrate to get the lower? Thanks ( sorry for my english)
Hey Robert. I'm not sure what you mean. Do you ask if it's possible to tune the strings even lower?
He asked if the strings action is high and if it is possible to lower.
Yeeet
