My brother adopted a 13-year-old cat from a shelter. She was so violent with other animals that they were on the verge of ejecting her from the shelter. If she could see other cats, she would hiss and act aggressively. As soon as she got to my brother's house, she relaxed and she is the most angelic cat I've ever known. When I visit, she crawls up on my chest and buries her face under my chin.
When I see this cat and hear about how the cat didn't get along with other cats, it makes me remember that cats really love human beings more than other cats sometimes.

I had a male cat, Beauregard. He looked so much like MK and sounded like her, too. He was so loving, and so purr purr. It's so nice to see her in a loving home. She waited a long time for that. Bless you all. ❤

What a darling of a pussy cat your beloved MK is. She does not, at all, come across to me as an elderly cat but on the contrary she comes across as an over pampered, over grown baby. This is because you and your husband have showered her with so much love, care and affection that this beautiful God-gifted cat is living life Queen Size! I honestly am not able to comprehend how someone can just leave an animal behind. I also adopted a senior cat, he looked very much like this cat, and he was 14 at the time. He lived a great life until the age of 21 and I miss him every day.
You never know what the reason was, and it's often not heartless. Many seniors die and leave pets behind. It's sad, but that's just reality. And it will be even more frequent as the baby boomers and gen x all age together...
He lived a long good life im glad you got that extra time with him and helped him in his golden years

There can be multiple reasons also death, illness… why someone leaves a cat BUT take the cat to the rescue center and don’t just abandong them
I just got a 10yr old shelter cat. The story was the owner died (guessing elderly).

My little Rescue Cat did that also. She chose us not the other way around. She jumped straight into my arms at the shelter & that was it !
yes 25 dollars, but let's not forget all the money she had to pay in addition to get shots etc.
It takes way more than $25 to properly care for a cat though. Gotta make sure people are prepared before they get a pet.

Beautiful story. I adopted a shelter cat almost 6 years ago. She was 10. They said she was quiet. When she stepped into my apartment and out of her box, she proved to be anything but quiet. She's a chatty and fiesty kitty. We've grown into a mutual understanding of each other. 😊😂

Because you have loved her like family. Many of these owners and not true family to their cats say this. Even in my home with my "wife's" cat Belle. Because my wife spends little to no time with her. Belle loves me to death and will stay with me in our home office all day. She talks to me all day long except when she's asleep ;D. We play lazer tag, belly rubs and biscuits, and meows and chirps when she is guarding the window watching outside.
I had my kitty since she was 6 weeks old. She lived to be 28 years old and i still miss her. Kitties are special.❤

@@htth8633 I think they are different kind of attachements, when you adopt senior pets in comparrison to young ones. With seniors you know right from the start that the time together is limited and adjust accordingly. The bond is different too. With puppies you often associate them with your own children, you see them as toddlers, how they grow up, become adults. You dont have that with seniors. They are emotionally more seen as companions and while it still hurts, when they pass, its not the same as when a pet dies you have known for its whole life.
This is so very noble and charitable of you to have adopted this senior cat and to have given it the best four years of its precious life. This beautiful, loving and grateful cat, in turn, gave you the best four years of your life. What a beautiful give and take story between you and your precious God-gifted cat. May Almighty God reward you abundantly for caring for HIS kitty creature for those four precious years of your life and the life of this beautiful cat. I did the same, adopted a 15 year old cat that then lived another 10 years. She definitely wasn't 15, just so neglected and sick (and stinky!)

All cats have their own personality. My cat was adopted when he was app. 16 weeks. He had been in 2 families, and the last one couldn’t afford to get him neutered. They were happy that we could take him. He is a bit of a weirdo, but extremely friendly. He don’t like to be on the lap, but he sleeps ad the foot-side of our bed every night. He is such a good boi. If Im ill, he follows me everywhere without being all over me. He is a smart cat, and soon 1 y old 😻
My mom got a cat who spent his first 2 years living with big dogs, and everything scared him. Now he's my shadow. He's become so vocal and demanding of scratches. He's 12 now and I'll keep him happy.

One day, don't know when, don't know how, I will bring home a new kitty. A local feline rescue will be the place I try first, and I'm very partial to seniors who happen to be black. Revvie, Tiger Lily, and Ella have all taught me well that black kitties have tons of love to give. One day....

Indeed! Many cats are healers, in my experience, and MK is certainly that. 😁 The fact that MK knows exactly what her human mama needs for stress relief is a strong indicator. 😊
@@a.katherinesuetterlin3028 - I couldn't agree more. MK is an amazing cat. I use cat purring soundtracks to put myself down at night, and wake up a bit more level, or centred the next day. But it's no substitute for a real cat.
OMG the first line is “I found my soul cat” totally hit home. My cat’s name is destiny, I knew she was my cat the moment I saw her. A man was walking into the shelter with her because she was born to a stray and the mom had been killed and he had found homes for all but two, when I seen him walking in I ask him where he was going with my cat. She is now 20 years old and has been with me since she was 3 weeks old. And when I hear her purr it literally calms my heart.

I have a big boy named Maka who looks like her twin. He is 'thick' also, around 20 lbs. When he jumps into bed and lands on my chest it feels as if all the air has been knocked out of my lungs. He can fall asleep on me for hours, purring and snoring. He's 13 and we adopted him when he was around 2. Maka was much slimmer then, but as he has aged, he eats more and moves less. We love him so much just as he is.

She chirps when she purrs! I love that about mine! I had a boy some years that chirped when he purred! Shows how happy he is... When he died, his spirit directed me to my local shelter, he told me to stop crying over him, that he was just fine, that there was another kitty who needed me. He chose this orange 17 year old kitty. I took her home the next day after visiting the shelter the previous day. Long story short, she was so sweet and so mellow. First time I'd had an adult cat, we shared 7 more years together, she lived to be 24 years old. My Only Sunshine... Marely Monkey brought Sunshine (back) into my life! Miss them both...
I had a cat just like that called Buddy. He was in an apartment with 6 people and another cat. The owner knew this was not a good situation for him. We adopted him (just 2 of us in a 3 bedroom house) and right away Buddy sensed the quiet and relaxed nature of his new home and he was the best cat I ever owned. He loved our place and was relaxed and affectionate.
