- After the tragic death of Freddie Mercury, Roger returned to his solo career with 1994's Happiness?, an album on which he explored the theme of "dealing with life and looking for happiness". The success of the album prompted further tours of the UK and Italy. Then came perhaps his most potent album, Electric Fire, which clearly showed Taylor as an acute observational songwriter. Rich in contemporary reflections on life, the album was full of attention-grabbing songs tackling thought-provoking and sometimes challenging issues - national obsolescence, domestic violence, and poverty, among them. One track, People On Streets, was inspired by visits Roger made to India and the inequalities he witnessed in the fortunes of that country's vast population. Never shy to express himself, several super- rich and powerful world figures get name checked in the song.
Roger returned to his solo career in late 2009 with the release of the single The Unblinking Eye. A new solo album emerged in 2013, the critically acclaimed Fun On Earth, plus a comprehensive box set called The Lot which covered all his solo material and work with The Cross. In 2017 Roger released a stand alone video single called ‘Journey’s End’ that reached No.1 in the iTunes Video Chart in several different countries.

About Roger Taylor:
Roger Taylor's contribution to Queen was far more than just the drummer. He wrote massive hit singles; 'Radio Ga Ga,' 'A Kind Of Magic,' 'Breakthru', 'Invisible Man', 'Heaven for Everyone' and 'These Are Days of Our Lives.' Plus fan favourites like 'I'm In Love With My Car' and 'Tenement Funster.' In 1977 Roger became the first member of Queen to launch a solo career with the release of the single I Wanna Testify. His solo album Fun In Space followed in 1981, and was succeeded by 1984's rock-based Strange Frontier. Both LPs reached the Top 30. In 1987 Roger formed his own band The Cross, in which after more than 20 years he finally resumed the role of lead singer. The Cross released three distinctive albums and toured extensively in the UK and Europe.

1980. Christmas Day. My mom bought me The Game as a present. I was eight. I opened it up. I looked at the cover. I dropped the needle. My jaw hit the floor. Literally, within minutes Queen became my favorite band. I wanted to be a drummer because of Roger. I would sit on the side of my bed and act like I was the drummer. Pencils as drumsticks (Speaking of drumsticks, I got one of Roger's from a show they did with Paul Rodgers. He threw it straight to me. I was begging!!! I guess he could tell I really really really wanted it! Hahaha!!!). Later, after I got Live Killers, I used to act out that whole album from beginning to end. My bedroom became a concert hall. Anyway, my parents refused to buy me drums, so I ended up being a bass player/guitarist. Today. June 28,2021. Queen. They are still my favorite band. I have all the solo albums by all the individual members too. Long live the Queen!

I bought this on its day of release, in...April, May, was it?...1981.
I loved it then, and I love it, now.
"We went walking down the streets we used to run" is such a lovely phrase and it sounds like a eulogy to days gone by. The whole track is a kind of sequel to Drowse (incidentally, my favourite track on A DAY AT THE RACES).
This is the best solo Queen product, by a country mile.

Hmmm.. i always sang and thought the lyrics was "We went down, we couldnt smile..." Not "Cruised round"... also says "we went down, down, down, into violence", not "in the"... Anyway, great song, reminds me and has an atmosphere like Rock It (Prime Jive), as a matter of fact i remember i bought Fun In Space because the songs on it are similar to Rogers compositions for Queen, I dont find Strange Frontier and/or Cross style similar to Queen.... but Fun In Space is great
