Excellent channel. I was a boxer from 83-2010. I also taught boxing. Never learned the peekaboo style but respect it very much. Fun Fact: Cus DAmato appropriated Tai Sabaki foot work from Ashihara kara te and incorporated it into the peek-a-boo style of boxing. I learned that directly from Tyson. Peace be with you young man. You're a good teacher. I wish you success.
Liked it, and I subscribed. Thank you ver much for sharing your solid knowledge. I am from Kazakhstan, the birthland of Gennadiy Glolovkin. Here we practice more soviet style boxing with the orthodox stance. And peekaboo style is rare in here. I have been practicing the style for 6 months, nevertheless, I have some problems. Keep up making your video.
Thank you finally theres a video on the proper mechanics of weaving theres plenty of slipping but I havent been able to find a good longer video explaining weaving thanks bro
While you're at the basics of the peakaboo boxing style like Teddy and Cus taught it, maybe u can recommend a routine based of strength and cardio. The style demands a lot of cardio and strong core and leg muscle. What is your recommended cardio training and strength base(for example u should be able to do 500 bodyweight squats and 5 minutes core training). Would help us a lot to train specifically for the style. Cheers.
@@TheMagnificent1903 As it’s well documented, Mike had freak genetics and was a very strong kid. He went above and beyond out of fear of going back into the environment he came from. But what many don’t know is that you don’t need to follow his workout routine to use the style. All of the fighters in the gym back in the day were just normal 12-15 year old kids. Most went onto becoming decorated amateurs using the style. The physical conditioning just comes down to practicing properly. Always slipping and weaving properly, learning the Willie and advancing on it properly, doing the moves, always slipping or changing position after your last punch, etc. All stuff we’ll cover in time 🥊
hey man, i've been waitin' a long time for videos like this, with such credibility. mike's peek-a-boo did have quite a few nuances, so i always hesitated to take advice from other people on the subject. my 13 y/o son and i greatly appreciate what you're doing and look forward to more!!!
@@KyleHarrington Glad you guys are enjoying Kyle. When I was 13, my dad and I were living the same story. Looking up videos, practicing, going to the gym night after night. But a lot of those videos online weren’t and still aren’t teaching the style in its purity - they’re just copying Mike. Since I moved to Catskill, I got the opportunity to learn correctly. So now, the idea is to preserve it and pass it onto the next generation 🥊
Ur a god for making this content. If I become a boxing beast, ill make SURE to give all the credit to you. Cant say I taught myself when ur basically coaching everyone for free. Sure it's not in person & near as in depth of training but still, u doin gods work lol💪🏾
@@sealofakatosh Glad it’s been of help. I give the credit to the Darren and George who trained me, who were trained by Cus. And then the several others who learned from Cus that I learned from over the years. I’m simply the conduit 🥊
As a tall guy 6ft4, the weaving has been a bitch to master. At the point where i might give up on it almost completely. Shorter fighters anyway go to the body more with me so i end up crashing on a punch.
In the video 2:55 i have been learning every Mike Tyson with the ever heavy bag, you know the one you said that will make a bad habit but i always see Mike Tyson do the one you call a bad habit
Actually i was learned to do it in such a sense that you go under his armpit rather than dodging his whole hand and its really better but i guess there are different strategies.
cant wait to start training here remember me i ll come from georgia not state in boston state and continue boxing here and i want u to be my trainer : )
Great channel Mate! Subscribed! Been a big fan of the Peekaboo Style, few people online teach it as it was by Cus.. the only 'authentic' other source was Joe Hadley. Do you have specific conditioning routines for the Peekaboo style? I remember Joe had specific warm ups for the waist, neck exercises, push ups etc. Also, a technical question, with the slips, do the hips move to 'counter balance' your upper body slipping at the waist? or do the hips never move and its just waist muscle movement only? Reason I ask is I always wondered how much 'shearing force' there is on the spine when slipping fast side to side from the waist only.
@@RollinBoy Thanks, glad you’re getting value from the channel! We do movements that acclimate your body to the slipping technique, yes. But they’re more drills than just warm ups. Constantly doing it the proper way will naturally reduce the soreness you have in the waist area. As for your second question; the slipping is done all at the waist. You don’t want your hips to move. Rather, you want your pelvis to be locked in place while you slip at the waist. If you’re balanced and your pelvis is locked in, it serves as a stabilizer in of itself. Beyond that, getting the slipping down is just a means of doing the repetitions and building up the muscles to do it.
Maybe it's ur phone or something but that wouldn't make sense if nothing else has weird audio. Idk my point is his audio sounds loud & clear & perfectly fine to me. & It is superb content

How to defend against an uppercut ? Sir.
In my opinion, I think you just step back (put the weigh on your front foot to propel backwards) then step back in
