- We’re all sick of Isekai, but this one’s good, I swear. The Princess of Convenient Plot Devices (Watashi wa Gotsuugou Shugi na Kaiketsu Tantou no Oujo de Aru) is a Josei Isekai light novel and manga series that-while it is a little tropey-is actually a fun story in its own right. Its two-faced fujoshi heroine Octavia is flawed, funny, and fun to root for.

Not quite what I was expecting when you said those Isekai Twitter polls were for a video, but this seems like a very interesting series, and I’ll have to check it out.
I do wish there was a Shojo equivalent to the Shonen Jump app, would make getting into series so much more accessible.
hell yeah, Sarah Moon upload!! it seems like it would be really difficult to translate something like this, that does a lot of switching between formal princess tone and almost netspeak-y otaku tone. looks like a fun series!
I ordered it from amazon today. My first light novel.
I squealed and fangirled in pure joy when you mentioned Clifford. “Ridiculously pretty” is completely accurate for Clifford. That man is the most beautifully drawn ML I have seen in such a long time! I’m so glad Yoneda Kazusa was chosen to draw the manga adaptation. Their art for Clifford is perfect!
Not only is he gorgeous, but I just love Clifford’s stoic but sweet and gentle personality! A knight with no inferiority complex! Loyal to the FL from the start but professionally polite to everyone! A man who asks for permission and jelly without being a red flag! His lines make me swoon.
I love this series because of Clifford!
Other than that, I’m so happy that Watago got an official English translation. It feels like it’s getting the recognition it deserves! And Clifford deserves that recognition! While I’ve already read raws, I love how you’ve made Octavia sound so sassy in your English translation! Even Clifford is a little sassy, and I’m here for it!
Maybe… maybe, my dreams of an anime adaptation aren’t just a pipe dream! Maybe a Watago anime will be made one day! I want Myth&Roid to do the opening song! It’s only right because this is an isekai! Aoi Yuki has to voice Octavia! I need her in there! Yūichirō Umehara for Clifford! Let’s go!!!

I bought it, read it and now preordered Vol 2! I had a fun and easy time reading your translation. I hope this series catches on because I love how much agency the main character is demonstrating. I feel like even in other similar stories of the otome iesekai genre the main character can be quite passive which frustrates me.
Saw this when YP announced it and thought it looked interesting! And i'm even more intreeged now! My brain doesn't like reading huge amounts of text that much, so probably gonna hold out for the Manga, or maybe if we're lucky we'll get an Audio Book =D
Cool thing about light novels is they're short! But yeah, the manga's good.

An interesting perspective. I have to admit, I've also become a bit disillusioned with Isekai lately. Most of the Isekai shows I started lost my interest at some point or another, particularly Slime Isekai (how Rimuru fought to become so Overpowered through hard work and unique skills) and Villainess Life (the first season was sweet, but it lost steam in following conventional reverse harem tropes in the second).
That said, I'm not opposed to Isekai as a genre, so I'll give this manga a chance! (Plus I need to revisit Magical Knight Reyearth at some point, lol)

EDIT: Now, two thoughts that crossed my mind:
1. Isn’t _Futurama_ an _isekai_ series? And, considering how the term is used in Japanese, an _isekai anime_ specifically?
2. The description you gave didn’t feel like ‘oh poor straight me’ but more like ‘the fujoshi finally gets we don’t exist for her consumption’, so based on that I give it my queer seal of approval.
Yeah, time travel usually falls into Isekai, so Futurama is an Isekai! And double-yeah, one thing that always made me feel a *little* uncomfortable about BL is how it does seem to be more for straight girls and women than for gay men.
