The raven represents Susan's telepathic ability, and it showed Kosh knew she was a telepath

Watching you gush over the Sheridan/Delenn scene is one of the SWEETEST things I have EVER seen. What you are watching is a completely pure relationship developing and evolving from their first glance at each other, back at the start of this season, to now. I have never seen such a beautiful depiction of a burgeoning romance as theirs. Seeing your reaction to this warms my heart.

As per the 'Red Book' the original plan would have seen Laurel Takashima from the pilot being both the one with the implanted personality and the one who shot Garibaldi in the back at the end of season 1. Susan would have been slowly introduced in the background throughout the season and after Laurel was exposed would have taken over her job as the second in command.

To me it felt like BSG season one "borrowed" this twist. Moore probably didn't directly nick it - the Manchurian Candidate concept is nothing new, after all. But it feel like it plays how B5 would have done if Tamlyn Tomita had stayed on.

Patricia Tallman, who plays Lyta, used to be married to Jeffrey Willerth who was the actor inside the Kosh suit (Ardwight Chamberlain provided the voice).

This episode basically wraps up the Bureau 13 plotline as well, for the most part.
Not that some of their machinations may not have continued, but they were never directly addressed again.
In part this was because the name 'Bureau 13' was already being used by another project, leading to a rights dispute. So if they were revisited, the name would have to change.

Uuugh, so many people leaving comments that "she wanted out". Seriously, stop making it sound so acrimonius. Andrea Thompson worked on other shows during B5 which is why she's not in every episode. She was offered better roles for more money including moving towards a journalism career which was something she wanted to do longterm. She spoke to the shows creators about more money to counter the offers but she was a side character who couldn't really command that level of screen time or wages. It was clear that her career was moving into different areas and they decided to go for a "killed off" option because Patricia Tallman was able to return and take up the role that Talia was meant to fill in the story. That's it.
JMS said that his biggest regret was not being able to finish the "relationship" arc but also has said that after Michael O'Hare left fairly suddenly after season 1, he started planning "trapdoor escapes" for all of the main cast incase someone else wanted to leave.

I think you are reading too much into the comments. She wanted out vs she was forced out. That's all.

This episode illustrates the brilliance of Straczynski as a writer. He anticipated that, at any time, an actor might become unavailable, so he wrote "trap doors" for them to exit the show without negatively affecting the story. Andrea Thompson (Talia) is a total nutcase and decided mid-season she wanted out. Joe was able to accommodate her.

The situation is basically the same as Boomer on BSG. I love Lyta Alexander. The actress Pat Tallman is mainly an unsung heroine covered in latex doing stunt work. She did lead the 1990 remake of Night of the living dead.

When I first watched this episode I had no idea who the double agent was,
    Even though their was clues,
I was recording on my VCR, and at the exact moment when the password was transmitted my old TV glitched, from some interference,
For years I thought the glitch was an effect on the show, until I watched a copy without the glitch.
The glitch was timed so well I think it actually added some shock factor.

Let's talk abandoned plot threads. When Sheridan asked if Garibaldi's second in command, who shot him in the back in season 1, might have been the sleeper, that was a reference to something similar to the original plan. The first officer in the pilot episode, Laurel Takashima, was originally supposed to be the sleeper. This is evidenced by a shot in the pilot of a hand going up to unlock a door, and the screen confirms that the hand belonged to her. She was also intended to be the one who would shoot Garibaldi in the back in the season 1 finale. However, plans changed when she didn't join the main cast.
The second version of the plan was referenced with the flashbacks to Kosh and Abbut. Kosh knew about the fake personality and was using Abbut to create a backup of the real Talia's personality so that when the sleeper agent was activated, he could pull out the data crystal that had the backup of her mind on it and restore her. Unfortunately, the actress playing Talia wanted to leave the show... so, unfortunately, this never happened. Andrea Thompson joined CNN not long after this.

@Gimil38 No, I understand that. I'm saying it must not have been too terrible if they were able to put it aside to physically interact with one another in that scene. Literally hands on. Bad break ups tend to negate that kind of handsy interaction.

@Gimil38 Jerry and Andrea were still married when she left B5. According to Patricia's book, Jerry and Andrea were on good terms when she returned for this episode. Andrea was also supportive of Patricia's return to the show. Andrea wanted to leave because Talia wasn't getting enough screen time.

The reason Lyta reacted when she scanned Ivanova was not anything mysterious, remember, she commented "She's Blocking me !?!", she had to push harder to get the codeword delivered, and it affected her when she stopped. Anyway, regarding cosh's appearance, You are still in Season 2, of 5 seasons, anything can happen within 3 seasons. (That is all I am saying).

Apparently Andrea Thompson wanted out of B5 because she was unhappy with the amount of screen time the character of Talia was getting.

    • @DoppelSkumm
      @DoppelSkumm 11 месяцев назад +1

No, she was getting better offers from other shows and serious news reporting jobs. She asked about more money and more screentime to counter the offers but she was never going to have that much of a role in the story. They wrote her out because she was moving on to other things and even had she been available later, the story needed a telepath for the next season.
